L’MODE
BOHEMIAN
Chic
Faby Jaca, founder of Lolita Jaca, on her collection —where timeless elegance meets bohemian sophistication, and every piece tells a story.
By JENNY MANNERHEIM
L’OFFICIEL: What is your earliest fashion memory?
FABY JACA: My earliest fashion memory goes back to my childhood, but it wasn’t just the fabrics or clothes that drew me in—it was primarily my perspective on women. I’ve always wanted to make them even more beautiful, to enhance their essence. From a young age, I was captivated by icons like Audrey Hepburn, for her natural elegance, and Brigitte Bardot, for her bohemian and wild style. Tese two
women, with their very diferent but complementary styles, left a lasting impression on me. My heart has always been torn between these two worlds, and it’s this duality that has shaped my approach to fashion.
L’O: How would you describe your creations, your style, and your approach to fashion?
FJ: My creations combine timeless elegance and simplicity,
with fuid cuts, luxurious fabrics, and unique prints that are part of the brand’s DNA. My style, inspired by travel, blends a bohemian touch with chic sophistication. Te aim is to create pieces that transcend seasons and become wardrobe essentials for our clients.
L’O: Te name Lolita Jaca – how did you come up with it?
FJ: Lolita Jaca was born from my desire to create a universe that is both poetic and evocative. “Lolita” embodies femininity, lightness, and a certain playful charm. “Jaca” is a tribute to my roots, both islander and cosmopolitan, and refects the soul of my creations.
L’O: You’ve traveled to India and Asia since the creation of Lolita Jaca, drawing inspiration from ancient cultures. How do these influences shape the brand and its creations?
FJ: Tese travels have been an invaluable source of inspiration. I was deeply moved by the colors, textures, craftsmanship, and exceptional embroideries I discovered. Te traditions and aesthetics of these regions nourish the very essence of my creations, whether through the choice of materials, manufacturing techniques, or the harmony of colors. Each piece of Lolita Jaca refects a meeting between these infuences and my own universe, creating a unique blend of modernity and ancient traditions.
L’O: You have two stores in Saint-Barth and are soon opening a new flagship in Palm Beach. Can you tell us about this expansion into the United States?
FJ: Palm Beach naturally became the perfect location for our expansion. Te clientele in this region shares our taste for refned elegance and timeless luxury, which aligns perfectly with the essence of Lolita Jaca. By opening this fagship, we’re bringing a bit of Saint-Barth’s spirit with us, ofering a unique experience that blends island chic with the luxury of Palm Beach. T is new step allows us to introduce our vision
to a wider audience while staying true to the brand’s spirit, combining sophistication with the art of living.
L’O: Lolita Jaca will celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2025. How do you reflect on these two decades?
FJ: Tese twenty years have been rich in learning, emotions, and challenges. Each step has strengthened my vision and allowed me to grow. Te successes, the defning moments, and even the obstacles have shaped this journey. Today, I feel immense pride and deep gratitude, particularly towards my sister Nanou Jaca, director of our boutiques, as well as to all those who have supported me: our loyal clients, my team, and those who have believed in me. T is anniversary will be an opportunity to celebrate this path we’ve traveled and to appreciate the chance to have realized this dream.
L’O: What have been some of your favorite moments throughout your journey?
FJ: Tere have been so many precious moments! I especially remember the f rst time I saw a woman wearing one of my creations in New York, by pure chance… It was a magical and emotional moment. Tere were also the collaborations with artisans in India, which allowed my ideas to come to life in such an authentic way. And of course, the opening of our f rst boutique remains an unforgettable memory. But beyond these key moments, my journey is also an incredible daily experience. I look at it all with the eyes of a child, always amazed and grateful for this success. I still can’t believe the love my creations have received over the past two decades and the loyalty of my clients, who wear and adore my designs with such passion.
L’O: What’s the best fashion advice you’ve ever received?
FJ: “Stay true to yourself.” In fashion, as in life, it’s essential not to get swept away by feeting trends and always return to your essence, to what truly inspires you. Creating to last is what makes the diference.

The world of GAIA
As Jasmin Larian’s Cult Gaia brand reaches further round Mother Earth, we discuss chaos, the divine feminine & how her designs sculpt her desires.
By JENNY MANNERHEIM
JENNY MANNERHEIM: What is your earliest fashion memory?
JASMIN LARIAN : My earliest fashion memory is going through my mother’s linen closet. She used to have a lot of fabric left over because she was a fashion designer. She would keep it in the linen closet, I would go in there and it was like a treasure chest of textures and unique shapes, it was a really magical experience and probably my f rst fashion experience. I was around 5 years old. Tat and I would only go to school in a dress it had to twirl or I wouldn’t wear it.
JM: How would you describe your approach to designing?
JL: I really believe in the concept of “one stroke”. I love sets, I think the eye moves upwards. Tat’s why I like designing in a lot of tonal colors, playing with bolder silhouettes and playing with proportion, fnding ways to emphasize or characterize a woman’s body. I love inviting a bit of playfulness but also making sure that everything is quite timeless, and then fnally I think everything has a bit of a goddess element to it it’s elegant but it has impact.
JM: I love that concept of the goddess, and the name Cult Gaia, how did you come up with that name?
JL: Gaia is the goddess of Mother Earth and the daughter of Chaos. For me femininity is the most creative force there is, as well as nature, and I think every great design has tension within it which to me is chaos.
JM: You’ve described your design philosophy as creating things you want to wear.
JL: I tend to gravitate towards things that I don’t see everywhere, I love nuance and a bit of things that feel unique and very diferent but also timeless. I think that is a huge part of my philosophy as well, it’s the idea of if I’m going to take it out of the bottom of a box, will it still look good? I think that’s the best evolution, you can see our product has gotten so much better as I have learned, having this company has been a bit like school and I think there’s always room for improvement but our product is so much better than ever; beautiful, timeless, and in continuity with our brand DNA.
L’MODE
JM: Te Cult Gaia aesthetic is artful and sculptural, I know your mother was also a sculptor, how do you approach blending art and fashion in your designs?
JL: Yes I think most of our pieces basically act like wearable sculptures and wearable art, they’re made and crafted to evoke emotion but still wearable. I think its super important for someone to feel when they see something, that’s why we exist as a brand and I think that we really walk the line of creating pieces that are extraordinary but also functional.
JM: Motherhood has also influenced your fashion collection, how does that tie into the designs? Tis idea of being a mother and leading this international brand?
JL: Well I think more than ever it makes me really focused on making pieces that are lasting, forever. Tat’s truly my approach right now to sustainability, as much as possible, making less but making everything a lot better because I really think of what they’re going to see the legacy of what I created. Our customers are going to grow up with that, so how do I want to make them proud. It has also taught me a lot of patience and has changed my approach to managing a team and a company, it’s a lot more purposeful.
JM: You opened your store last year in St Barth, how did you decide to open a store on the island?
JL: I visited St Barth three years ago and to me it’s like this magical escape. I like that it’s a little hard to get to and it has this perfect balance of nature lots of nature, and also glamour. T is to me is the most Cult Gaia thing ever, the balance of both. I just felt like it really feels like an escape when you’re there, and it’s a bit artistic in a way, and bohemian which I really resonated with. Everyone who knows knows, it’s a magical gem of a place. We have a global audience and they travel there, I thought it would be a perfect place for us to give them a piece of our brand.
JM: What were your favorite spots?
JL: I stayed in an amazing house next to Eden Rock, we got so lucky we could walk to the beach from it. I was with my kids, magical. We did a lot of hikes, Le Grand Fond, the sea turtles. I mean, wow.
JM: You last dressed Tailor Hill for the CFDA awards, do you do custom designs with talent?
JL: Yes. I was working on my resort collection, believe it or not I’m working on it for next year, and the word that inspired the whole collection for me is: charming. So the whole collection there’s like this idea of what is charming when it comes to pieces. And I think her dress was one of the f rst things we designed with that concept, you’ll see a lot more come up, but it’s a year from now.
EVERYONE who KNOWS KNOWS, it’s A MAGICAL GEM OF a place.
JM: Any upcoming projects you’re most excited about? Could you tell us a bit about your upcoming perfume launch?
JL: A goddess, femininity, contrast and tension. Each scent has a little bit. It’s defnitely not basic. I really wanted it to be something that trails you, it doesn’t overwhelm you, and that’s how I kind of see perfect product, it’s not so in your face but the more you look, the more you see, and with fragrance it’s like the more you follow, the more you, you’re like, what is that?
JM: What’s the best fashion advice you’ve ever received?
JL: Less is more, I think. I think it’s a big challenge, but it goes a long way to be able to edit and pull back sometimes.
Bathymetry VIBRATIONS
The French luxury swimwear house Vilebrequin, renowned for its dedication to eco-friendly materials and innovative design, has partnered with the visionary Françoise Nallet, an expert in energy frequencies, to create an exclusive model inspired by the marine landscapes of Saint Barth.
By PHILIPPE COMBRES
PHILIPPE COMBRES: Could you briefly describe your activity and how you work with Vilebrequin?
FRANÇOISE NALLET: I have been practicing cellular memory expertise for several years. I am also a speaker and author. My main activity consists of uncovering unconscious blockages that hinder the full development of individuals, and I teach methods and tools that help people fnd the best qualities within themselves to grow and feel happier. My extrasensory abilities allow me to transmit this energy and knowledge across various felds. Terapeutic support for individuals, creation, theater, and writing. Textile creation was my f rst profession, when I designed colorful wedding dresses and shimmering corsets at a time when getting married in white was almost mandatory. My source of inspiration comes from nature, the stars at night, and the love of sharing knowledge.
Meeting Vilebrequin was, above all, the meeting of a wonderful man, Roland Helory—an exceptionally kind being, passionate about his work. He trusted the dynamic of “pattern and energy” and the story that the design would tell. Roland had faith in my intuition, and I am deeply grateful for that.
PC: You work with energy frequencies; how does it work?
FN: Energy frequencies are fows of energy that are an integral part of matter, shapes, and colors. Tus, fabric and the materials that compose it—fbers, shapes, patterns—emit vibrations along with the corresponding favorable energy. Te designs of the collection are inspired by the source of creation: these positive, invisible waves that cannot be seen by the naked eye, yet they possess an extremely powerful
vibrational energy. Each product, whether a swimsuit or garment, will emit vibrations for the person wearing it and infuence their own energy. T is goes beyond simply feeling good in a piece of clothing because of its color or pattern. Te patterns I create are drawn from the expression of my intuition, which is connected to these energetic felds. Tese vibrations can be transposed onto a fabric or product. T is alchemical design work, based on color nuances and associated patterns, carries a sacred quality and is rooted in the theory of the fve elements, which symbolizes the balance of all things. Each swimsuit is inspired by this balance, with vibrations that are either soothing, energizing, or revitalizing, depending on the theme. In this way, each pattern carries a sacred quality and transmits a powerful message through its vibrations. My extrasensory abilities allow me to transmit this vibratory and energetic language. Te pattern delivers a message… that of the fow of energy. Te “Bathymétrie des Océans” line, for instance, reveals dynamic, regenerating vibrations through its design.
PC: What is exactly the bathymetry and how came the concept of Bathymetry of the Oceans, this special piece exclusively for St Barth?
FN: At its core, bathymetry is a technique used to observe and measure the depth of the oceans. However, the vibrational feld of St Barth revealed, through my intuitive reading, very graphic fows that pointed to powerful, energy-rich grounds. Te vibrational feld I connected to revealed harmonious, balanced fows. Te vectorized pattern of the island, along with the colored fows—touches of orange and yellow— represent the vibrational map of the island, which you can see in the print. It’s as if you are wearing the island’s energy, or carrying a bit of its land, its vibrations, and its beautiful energy in your suitcase. Wearing “Bathymétrie des Océans” is like carrying and unveiling dynamic, regenerating vibrations that support good mood and self-transcendence. It’s a pattern that radiates the energy of St Barth onto you, and then into your suitcase, bringing along the island’s vibrations—surrounded by warm, energizing fows that are conducive to vitality.
L’OCÉAN EACH PATTERN carries A SACRED QUALITY and TRANSMITS a POWERFUL MESSAGE
PC: What have you learned from our underwater landscapes while creating these visuals?
FN: T rough this creative exploration I tapped into the beauty of the seabed and the artistic character of the form waves I sensed. Nature, in response to my connection, revealed perfect curves, unimaginable forms of beauty, and inspiration fowed from there.
PC: Are you concerned about the protection of the oceans, and what do you think is the best way to protect them?
FN: Yes, of course. It is essential to become more conscious of nature and our fundamental role in protecting it. Nature is an integral part of our existence. Te oceans, like forests and all natural spaces, are vital habitats for life, and in order
for life to fnd its balance, we must live in harmony with nature, which is a fundamental element of our balance and future. Protecting the oceans is crucial for the survival of the ecosystem and our future. It’s like we must naturally protect someone we love. T is may sound like a simple approach but perhaps the message would be better understood this way: the best way to protect the oceans is to educate humans about their preservation. Measures should also be put in place, such as regulating fshing practices—fostering more conscious and environmentally respectful fshing, and enforcing regulations on large ships that dump their pollutants into the ocean without consideration. Finally, it’s essential to educate everyone on the dangers of human overactivity in the oceans, which creates imbalances and weakens the very life that depends on them.
Massage is the MESSAGE
The master massage therapist Christophe Marchesseau opted to settle in the Caribbean: he chose St Barths’ emerald-blue paradise, where an essential connection with nature provides the source of all balance and equilibrium.

L’WELLNESS
A long history of healing, Christophe Marchesseau believes in being an active participant in this fow, treating every body with fundamental respect and upholding a practice of complex, holistic care. His primary tool is his hand—one that feels, perceives, and heals. Christophe listens, understands, calms, and regenerates, restoring balance to the body, the mind, and the vital breath of life. His expertise has helped him develop an all-round, comprehensive technique; one that is therapeutic, simple, and holistic with his four major pillars: Te Hand, Te Masssage, Te Care and Te Senses.
THE HAND
Te hand is an exceptional tool, one that reconciles body, soul and spirit. Te hand feels—but also releases and repairs. With one hand, Christophe Marchesseau brings together the expertise of a physiotherapist, an osteopath, a masseur (who also trains), and a coach. He likes to note the parallel between human f ngerprints and those of a tree. Te hand is, by def nition, connected to nature and to its environment. Te hand is a tool that triggers contact, one that links people and the world around us.
THE MASSAGE
Christophe Marchesseau has crafted a one-of-a-kind therapeutic massage technique that adapts to the unique needs of each individual. His method addresses the body in its totality, methodically lifting the heaviness and tension that may weigh it down. His hands become intuitive instruments, refecting the state of the body’s tissues and identifying precise pressure points to release blockages. T rough this intricate process, Marchesseau helps the body rediscover its synergy, vitality, and growth, while simultaneously enhancing energy fow and breathing. Te result is more than just relaxation: it is a sensory experience that taps into the body’s innate self-healing power, unveiling a renewed sense of well-being.
Massage, derived from the Indian word massa meaning “to touch” or “to feel,” is deeply rooted in ancestral therapeutic practices. Marchesseau honors this heritage by blending ancient traditions—such as Tai massage, a 2,500-yearold art recognized by UNESCO as an intangible cultural treasure—with modern teachings. He draws from a universal philosophy, going beyond super fcial techniques to awaken, repair, and inspire the body’s inner potential. For Marchesseau, the ultimate message is simple yet pround: our body is our most valuable asset, capable of remarkable renewal and transformation.
FOUNDER, MARCHESSEAU HEALING SPA
With over 30 years of experience, Christophe Marchesseau has redefned the art of massage, seamlessly blending the disciplines of osteopathy, physical therapy, and therapeutic touch. His unique approach transcends traditional methods, ofering a holistic and intuitive pathway to balance and renewal. Based in the serene paradise of St Barth in the French West Indies, Marchesseau has earned international acclaim. His therapeutic techniques restore posture, awaken intuition, and promote physical and emotional growth. Known for his gentle yet profound touch, he invites his clients to recharge, let go, and embrace tranquility. From his private spa in St Barth to the world's most exclusive luxury hotels, Marchesseau works with discerning clients seeking unparalleled care. A trainer, recruiter, and humanistic philosopher, he radiates a rare serenity that transforms not just the body, but the spirit.
CHRISTOPHER MARCHESSEAU
THE CARE
Harmonizing emotions and resolving bodily dysfunctions, Christophe Marchesseau follows a straightforward philosophy: today, more than ever, our most valuable asset is our health. Listening to one’s body is an essential act of self-care.
Every day, Marchesseau works to alleviate chronic pain— whether cervical, dorsal, joint, or muscular—while addressing fatigue, jet lag, insomnia, or stress. His practice focuses on calming, healing, and lightening the physical burdens we carry.
In his work, Marchesseau listens closely to the body’s tissues—their rhythm, resonance, and elasticity. He relieves tension in muscles and joints, drains fuids, and restores balance. Under his skilled touch, the body regains its natural synergy, rhythm, and vital energy.
Marchesseau believes in the body’s extraordinary capacity for self-healing. As an attentive therapist, he liberates tensions and guides the body toward its innate ability to recover and renew.
Thirty years of DAILY PRACTICE have ALLOWED me TO CHOOSE, ADAPT and USE the BEST COLORS of this wide PALETTE called ‘MANUAL THERAPY’ to fnd the ‘THREAD’ of EACH PERSON.”

Romance on the ISLAND
Indonesian artist Riz Riz Rizz’s newest series delves into a world of passion and delight, inspired by St Barth itself.
In his debut exhibition in St Barth “Romance on the Island”, Riz Riz Rizz playfully takes us through his deeply imaginative world. His collection of pieces explore the wild quality of nature through muse-like f gures: women riding crocodiles, singing tigers, zebras carefully balancing fruit bowls, and mermaids suspended in midair.
Strength, vulnerability, and heroism are captured through symbolism all across the same frame. His compositions are playful, raw, and emotionally resonant these complex emotions play out in poetic, whimsical scenes on the canvas. Te human spirit merges with an animalistic and untamed nature, all painted through textured
brushstrokes in colors that reveal a distinct melancholic beauty. A self-professed lover of the madness of creation, Rizz has infused this collection with a personal fervor. His pieces speak universally while being deeply tied to his background, drawing in fuence from his heritage. Rizz’s success has attracted collectors worldwide, and his entry into the Caribbean art scene marks an exciting chapter in his career. Romance on the Island invites us into Rizz’s eccentricity, both captivating and surreal, these works are a must-see while they’re on the island.

LUXURY CONNECTION
An interview with Jordana Gheler, founder of St Barth Connection— the local tour operator transforming vacations into tailor-made experiences.
By PHILIPPE COMBRES
St Barth Connection has been redefning luxury travel on the island for 14 years, blending impeccable service with unmatched connections. Enter a world of luxury travel where bespoke is the new standard for hospitality.
PHILIPPE COMBRES: How did you get into the world of tourism?
JORDANA GHELER: In 2014 I started a marketing company to promote the island to the Brazilian market. I ran an online content magazine and regularly brought journalists, celebrities, and infuencers to showcase the island. I loved hosting them and showing them every corner of St Barth. In 2018 the hotels approached me and proposed the idea of launching a destination management company, which I loved, and in 2019 the company became the local partner for Brazilian travel agencies. In other words, they book hotels, villas, and mega yachts through us, and we handle absolutely everything.
PC: What is unique about the Brazilian market?
JG: Brazilians are accustomed to highly personalized service—nannies for each child, numerous sta f members, everything done last minute, and they want it all. So, I developed an ultra-personalized service. Our concierges are practically like nannies for our clients. Before clients arrive, the travel agencies provide us with all their details, so once they’re here, it’s as if we are their private assistants. Every morning, they send reminders of the day’s reservations and stay on top of everything.
PC: What is your vision for the future of tourism on St Barth?
JG: Having been here for many years and building friendships with the owners of beach clubs and restaurants, we have excellent connections to secure the best hotel rooms, beachfront villas or those with breathtaking views, the best tables at beach clubs, incredible private events with celebrities and so on. For the future of tourism we need excellence. If you rent a villa, it comes with a concierge. If you book a hotel, it also ofers concierge service. However, the hotel concierge won’t park your car, run to the pharmacy for you, or deliver items in the middle of the night. When the reservation is made through us, we provide this service as a courtesy— essentially an extension of the hotel concierge service.
Tanks to the level of excellence we’ve achieved, we were encouraged to expand into the U.S. market, with emphasis on our ultra-personalized service as a key diferentiator.
PC: What is your dream project?
JG: If possible, I try to introduce a touch of nature by incorporating the activities we ofer here, like Sound Healing, astrology, and more. I’m planning to organize a spectacular retreat here in November 2025, precisely because this movement is growing in New York, and it’s something I’m passionate about.

GLAMOUR
Are you looking for some additional comfort and glamour in your beach wardrobe? The long-standing Australian brand Zimmermann has opened its doors for all you lovers of luxury and suave but sandy looks.
By GISELE LACOURSIÈRE
Te ultra-chic, ever-popular Zimmermann brand began its journey in 1991 when Nicky and Simone Zimmermann founded the Australian label. Over the years, Zimmermann has evolved, bringing together sophisticated, feminine silhouettes with chic swim and resort wear - solidifying its place as a staple for those seeking stylish clothing in warmer climates. It’s no surprise that Zimmermann and its loyal clientele feel perfectly at home in St Barth. Te brand has recently opened a highly anticipated storefront on the island, ofering their signature styles in the idyllic tropical destination they’re perfectly suited for.

the island, the store occupies an original two-story timber and stone building that refects the efortless elegance synonymous with the Zimmermann lifestyle.
Te design thoughtfully incorporates the island’s unique history, blending French and Swedish in fuences. Details like a rare 1940s French abstract painting and a Swedish Kurbit folk art-inspired curtain infuse the space with a sense of heritage. Bespoke furniture, alongside a curated mix of vintage and modern pieces, enhance the stunning interior. With a warm palette of olive greens and rich oak woods, the boutique exudes an inviting, casual charm that brings together both the island’s spirit and Zimmermann’s relaxed ethos. EVERYTHING is HAND-PICKED BY ME. EVERY PIECE HAS A story, AN ORIGIN, A previous LIFE.
PHILLIPPE COMBRES: What is your earliest fashion memory?
MOLLIE MAE: Fashion represents many things for me. It’s more than just clothes. It’s like a history, a refection of all family trends and styles from past eras and ages, infuenced by diferent cultures, seen and transported through the fashion choices of younger generations. I was always inspired by my mother who had a very distinct look: golden skin, brown fur boots, and big brown hair. From a young age I loved wearing heels and leather patchwork boots - my dad con fscated those when he saw the size of the heel. I had an emo phase, only wearing bandannas and black lipstick, my parents prayed for the best. I’ve always explored and played with fashion. I can always remember being curious and having fun with the way I dress. Living in a small village in the middle of France meant many people had a lot of opinions. All I can say is, look at me now. Because who wants to look like everybody else anyway? I don’t want to ft in!
PC: You have a deep love and instinct for fashion, how did you come up with the idea of opening your own vintage store in St Barth?
MM: I have been looking for myself for years, looking for something that truly makes me happy, and a romantic luxury vintage store on a Caribbean island sounds like a dream. St Barth is my chosen home, and after meeting Kristian Stark, fashion icon but also the love of my life, here - I don’t want to leave ever. It just feels like the natural course of life for me. It fts.
PC: How would you define the style of Mollie Mae Vintage?
MM: Te style of Mollie Mae Vintage shifts through the seasons. It evolves every day to something new, constantly being inspired by life, new people, new cultures, new cities. Te vibrancy and quirkiness in my personality shows through my carefully curated selection of vintage. Everyone is welcome, we have a something for everyone, every mood and vibe. More important than just style, it leaves you with that happy, warm feeling. Tat feeling that you just found something with a story that is truly unique and perfect.
PC: How long have you been coming to St Barth, and what makes the island so special to you?
MM: I f rst came to St Barth’s as a traveler, a backpacker
hitchhiking around the island barefoot my f rst year. Here we are 4 years down the line. I wake up thankful for the life I live here, blessed every day, surrounded by beautiful people helping me succeed. I discovered what true love was and the importance of making your life exactly what you want it to be. St Barth was everything I was looking for. But, life here can be challenging, even people you don’t like, you will probably still have to see them every day… fashionably.
PC: How has St Barth influenced your perspective on fashion?
MM: St Barth developed my luxury fashion sense a lot, St Barth’s has expensive taste, but not necessarily good taste. Although my favorite out ft will always be a ripped shirt bikini, with no shoes, on my scooter. In the low season, I love how it feels like a small village and everybody is just laid-back, beachwear all day. In the high season, the sparkles and glamorous lifestyle come out again, I always love seeing how foreigners dress in St Barth. It’s showtime for everyone, every night.
PC: Do you see vintage fashion as a sustainable option for today’s world?
MM: I have deep opinions on today’s world and the situation of global pollution. I think vintage fashion is the solution. Not all vintage is expensive, and I always push and tell people to buy vintage. Fast fashion is the worst thing that has happened in our generation. It is the death of real style and uniqueness, it’s simply not cool. Te lack of craftsmanship, ethics, the mass production, the slavery, it is a sick trade. In terms of the consumers health, not only are we consuming chemicals, with fast fashion we are also wearing them. Invest in vintage, these clothes stand the test of time and maybe one day your daughter will be happy to wear her mother’s 30 year old vintage Dolce & Gabbana skirt, still in perfect condition and still trendy.
PC: What are the must-have pieces in your boutique?
MM: I love a bit of a surprise, I do not want to say much. I’m very proud of each piece I have collected. I source each piece individually, everything is hand-picked by me. Every piece has a story, an origin, a previous life. I have many boots and silk sheer crepe dresses, those are my favorites.

IT’S ALL ABOUT ENERGY and HOW YOU show YOURSELF, HOW IT MAKES YOU feel.
I’m always excited to hear what my clients think and listen to demands for better sources every week, and give a more personal shopping experience.
PC: Can you name a few of your favorite brands and designers?
MM: Blumarine, Chanel, Roberto Cavalli, Dolce & Gabbana, Galliano, Dior, Chrome Hearts, Miu Miu, and so many more… but also some smaller brand vintage too. Because it’s not just about the logo, but how you style it and fnd what works for you.
PC: Is the store exclusively for womenswear, or will there be some pieces for men as well?
MM: We welcome everyone. I will be launching the store with a collection of men’s vintage as well as women’s pieces. Old baggy jeans, vintage shorts, vintage t-shirts, but also small trinkets and cool collectible pieces, not to mention a vintage collection of one-of-a-kind custom jewelry, a collection of beautifully crafted gold jewelry from Child of the Sea.
PC: Could you tell us more about Child of the Sea?
MM: Child of the Sea is a jewelry brand founded by my talented friends Cheyenne and Nico Mignot. Born and raised on an island, they’ve crafted a stunning line that captures the essence of their heritage and creativity. Teir designs explore the art of gold craftsmanship and the magic of gemology, bringing to life the spirit of the sea and the allure of treasures from old pirate legends. T is collection features pearls, gold, and exquisite gemstones.
PC: Why did you choose to have this jewelry collection in your vintage store, and what sets it apart from other jewelry brands?
MM: Teir love for the ocean and adventure has shaped not only who they are but what they create. Child of the Sea isn’t just a jewelry brand, it’s a refection of their journey. Tey make pieces from the treasures they fnd, the waves they ride, and the spirit of adventure that drives them. Each item is unique, carefully selected, and designed with exceptional taste and attention to detail using sustainable gold that refects their commitment to responsibly sourcing the jewelry.
PC: As a young entrepreneur, what challenges have you faced in bringing this project to life?
MM: Te hardest part is to not to keep every piece for myself.
I’ve learned to let go, I’ve spent hours and hours online and in in-person negotiating and sourcing the perfect pieces. Vintage doesn’t always come in perfect condition so repairing every piece is time-consuming, and it can also be challenging to curate fashion for all di ferent body shapes, sizes, styles and moods.
PC: Te theme of this issue is “Surf is Art” What is your connection to the surf world?
MM: I think the energy of the surf world is a similar energy to the fashion world. I think it’s cool going to watch my friends surf in my ripped vintage Levi’s shorts and a vintage silk lace 1920s top. Nobody knows what I’m wearing but me, but it’s all about energy and how you show yourself, how it makes you feel. Each surfer has their own style and technique just like every fashionista has their statement piece and go-to look.
PC: What is your ultimate dream in life, and who are your heroes?
MM: My ultimate dream in life is to be happy to be healthy, to be loved, family safe, everyone well dressed. But also to have done something in my lifetime that is bigger than me, something that helps people, makes people remember me, makes others feel good about themselves, creates connections and lifts each other up.
Te sooner I surrounded myself with people who truly want to see me succeeded that’s when I got closer to my dream. I was named after Amelia Earhart, American female aviation pioneer. A strong-minded woman who was to be the f rst woman to circumnavigate the world. Lost somewhere in the paci fc, she chased her dream.
PC: For this L’Officiel fashion shoot, you were photographed by the iconic Laurie Lynn Stark. Can you tell us about the experience?
MM: Shooting with Laurie Lynn is a blessing. You will never meet a mind like Laurie’s. She is a beautiful soul and someone that I look up to every day. I’m so grateful to have her guidance at this moment in my life, as a mother, as a friend, as a photographer and business woman, I love her dearly and can listen to her for hours. I will always learn something new with Laurie, she is truly unique and one of a kind. An angel.

MATISSE THE AFGHAN HOUND
Matisse, a one-and-a-half-year-old Afghan Hound, is the epitome of grace and refnement. Silent and stoic, he carries himself with elegance in the upscale spots of Saint Barth. His silky coat and poise evoke the spirit of the 1970s, with a stride that calls to mind the vibe of Stayin’ Alive. T is stubborn dandy only responds to gentle commands and prefers to observe in silence rather than bark. Despite his impressive 25 kg stature, he maintains a rare elegance. A chic rebel, he loves to play but is not one for swimming likely to preserve his coat’s radiance. Matisse is a companion who blends chic and charm with a distinct personality.
LOOKY THE YORKSHIRE TERRIER
Looky, the adventurous little Yorkshire Terrier, always knew the world was his stage. After changing owners, he found a loving home with Marinka with whom he travels the world in style and with curiosity. But Looky is more than just a globetrotter—he’s a true fashion icon! As the face of Guismo and Friends Animal Services, he’s even been photographed in Dior for L’Ofciel, proving that adventure has its own style. Every stop on his journey is another chance to shine, whether in the wild outdoors or on the biggest runways. Looky embodies the perfect blend of boldness, elegance, and refnement, a true canine model with an unmistakable style.
ALDO THE PARROT AND MOSLEY THE COCONUT DOG
Eighteen years ago, a feathery newcomer arrived in St Barth from Nantes: Aldo the parrot, named after Aldo Maccione for his sassy strut! Always attached to his little toy, he loves spreading his wings to shine and sneaking bites from plates. His great love is Mosley, or Momo, a big, sturdy island-born pup with a mix of pony and calf looks, part of a litter of eleven puppies. Momo has simple needs: pulling his humans around, sprawling across the couch, and, like Aldo, nibbling on snacks. But make no mistake Aldo is the real boss here!

SIMBA THE LOVER GIRL
It’s true she’s a very shy girl. But Simba the pomeranian is a lover at heart. Her morning has to start with kissing everyone. She’s super curious. She loves riding on the scooter and looking around, which is funny because she’s scared of everything. Even the rain is scary to Simba. Tankfully, she hasn’t seen snow yet. She loves to jump in the water after boats even though she hates swimming and water. Put a piece of ham in front of her and you have her love forever.

VEGAS THE BROWN WIRE-HAIRED DACHSHUND
Te daughter of a restaurant director, this feisty little dachshund shows exemplary behavior with other dogs and loves their company. Extremely sociable, she never barks and stays calm in any situation. With her bold style, she even enjoys riding a scooter! However, her independent, una fectionate nature can sometimes be frustrating: “She never listens to me I must be too lenient,” says her owner, Manu. At the restaurant, she’s quick to beg at every table. One thing’s certain she’s no vegan: she has a carnivore’s appetite, which always brings a smile.
DAISY THE MINI BLACK DACHSHUND
Daisy is a year-and-a-half-old dachshund who weighs 3.3 kg. She’s a bundle of love! She loves playing with her koala toy and scaring the neighborhood chickens, just to show them who’s boss. She’s also a true athlete, especially when she hears the magic word “treat.” She takes up the whole bed and often steals her dad’s blanket, which makes him grumble. Food is life for Daisy; she love sneaking under the table and asking for scraps. She also loves playing with her friend Vegas, and when they’re together they don’t listen to anyone! Her faws? None. She’s the perfect dachshund except maybe when she steal her parents’ socks.
HERCULE THE DACHSHUND
Hercule the Dachshund to most, but his parents also call him Cucule, Bibi, or His Majesty. 7 years old, he has been living on St Barth for 5 years now. Always super friendly and ready for new adventures, whether going out with his parents or making new friends, cuddles and kisses are his thing. He could play fetch for hours. He’s also the pack leader a Doberman in his head so he always walks with pride. But mornings are a diferent story: he has to be woken up for walks, and if his toys are stuck under the couch, beware of the grumbling! He’s no fan of cats (and they’re everywhere in St Barth). Being a bit long, he spend a lot of time reversing. And his dislike of water can be awkward on an island at the best of times, but going out in the rain is absolutely out of the question.
LEVI THE MIXED DACHSHUND
Levi leads a life many of us could only dream of. Rescued from the streets of Los Angeles, this charming little dog won the heart of his mom Caroline and everyone else he meets. With his big eyes and irresistibly sad look, he knows just how to get what he wants: a belly rub or a cozy spot on the couch. From the sands of St Barth to the snowy peaks of the Austrian Alps, this little globetrotter goes wherever the action is. But nothing has captured his heart quite like St Barth, where he loves basking in the sun and enjoying life like a little king. Tough Levi is a bit shy and reserved, it doesn’t take long for him to hop into your lap and win you over with cuddles. A master at melting hearts, he’ll soon have you wishing you could be as adorable as he is.

OSLO THE SIBERIAN HUSKY
Oslo is a Husky crossed with a Czechoslovakian Wolfdog— but you can just call him handsome. He’s 6 and a half, and he’s been living in St Barth, his mom’s home island, for 5 years now. Before fnding his forever family, he bounced from home to home until he was 11 months old because he needed “too much attention.” Luckily, he found his people! Curious, stubborn, and a bit of a troublemaker, he has even learned to swim despite his fear of water—especially when it involves muddy puddles! Don’t worry about his thick fur; he thrives in the heat and loves soaking up the sun. His life here with his cousin Mosley is simply the best!
TOBY THE MINIATURE AUSTRALIAN SHEPHERD
Toby is a playful, intelligent miniature Australian Shepherd with strong protective instincts. T is little dog loves adventure and quickly picks up commands, always eager to please. His herding instinct is fully intact: he has the endearing habit of gathering people around him, as if they were his own fock of sheep! Very attached to his family, Toby never strays far. As for solitude? Not his thing! He much prefers being surrounded, ready to participate in any activity, keeping a close eye on every member of his human fock.

ONYX, RESCUE FROM ST MARTIN
Abandoned on St Martin after being hit by a car, Onyx arrived in St Barth thin but determined to live life to the fullest! Today, fve years later, he’s calm, cool, and passionate about two things: food and lizard hunting – tricky yet entertaining opponents. Mostly a homebody, he loves peace and quiet, but when out on a walk he’s happy to make friends. As for his house in Saline, it’s his kingdom. Intruders? A loud bark reminds them that at Onyx’s place, security is serious business!
YUKI, FRIEND AND FELLOW
RESCUE
Yuki was rescued from a miserable life in Saint Martin, where he was quite literally at bay, tied to a boat. Now a much happier dog, on St Barth he spends his mornings exploring SBH gardens and his afternoons napping! Super friendly, he loves everyone and is full of energy. As a bonus, Yuki shares some quirky talents with his human, Cédric: snoring, sighing, and even burping like a pro! Tanks to Cédric, who gave him a second lease of life, Yuki is now a good time dog: naps, wild runs, and endless cheers – he makes sure everyone knows he’s around.

Our world on St Barth is particularly close to surf culture, with pristine beaches the island is a surfer’s paradise. Celebrities, enthusiasts, and pros alike have all migrated to the shores of St Barth for its beauty and its waves, and some of the best surfers, think Tomas and Noe Lédée, Anais Blanchard, Dimitri Ouvré, and Tessa Tyssen, come from Caribbean shores. From the beaches of St Barth to the coasts of Hawaii, this surf lifestyle has shaped fashion and art over the course of centuries.
T rough the lens of surf, artists have continued to tap into the spirit of the ocean, capturing its beauty, power, and freedom in their work. Whether it’s through painting, photography, sculpture, or clothing, surf and art have come together to create their own genre, one that speaks to the soul of both nature and art lovers.
Albert Falzon Oam’s classic surf documentary “Morning of the Earth” (1972) is a good place to dive in to the cult of sur f ng. Te f lm opens with a montage of the ocean’s beauty in technicolor. Surfers glide over crystal blue water in 16mm f lm set to angelic background music, as Oam’s scenes let us appreciate the beauty of nature and those who live to seek it out. Te f lm marks a moment where sur f ng evolved into a lifestyle that became synonymous with cool—mention surf and one conjures up images of free-spirited beachgoers and sun-bleached hair, people dropping their 9-to-5’s in favor of chasing waves around the world. It became the call of counter culture, a hippies sport for nomads looking to discover the oceans.
It’s an obvious link, then, between surf culture and the art world. With a sport that feeds of of nature’s beauty, rides the wave of counterculture, and draws in young people, art must follow. Tat essential fuid freedom of sur fng has been translated into visual art, fashion, and music for decades, giving us collaborations and projects that continue to re-shape pop-culture as we know it. Beginning from photos of sur fng legends facing big waves in competition, to Californian families propped up next to boards in Slim Aarons’s idyllic photography and eventually leading to multimedia pieces about the lifestyle—sur fng and art share profound ties.
Contemporary artists like Jenny Holzer, Katarina Grosse, Daniel Arsham, and Alex Israel have all incorporated surfthemed elements into their work, bringing the essence of the ocean into galleries. Even surfers themselves lean into the art world to express what they feel out in the ocean, like Tony Caramaico who documented his nomadic lifestyle chasing waves for over forty years. Collaborations like the one between Lind Surf and several contemporary artists take this symbiotic relationship one step further, using boards as canvases and donating the proceeds of auctioned pieces to organizations like Oceanic Global and Save Te Olives. In fashion, the in fuence is equally undeniable—surf- inspired designs, from wetsuits to breezy beachwear, have found their way into high-end collections, with luxury brands like Chrome Hearts, Louis Vuitton, Zimmermann, and Dolce & Gabbana all trying their hand. Dior’s collaboration with Stüssy, the Californian brand known for its roots in surf and
“Eroded Surfboard”, HAYDENSHAPES X DANIEL ARSHAM Surfboard in Wood Zebra Pattern and Celine Print, CELINE Surfboard from Kim Jones and Shawn Stussy Collection, DIOR X STÜSSY
streetwear, brought a bit of an edge to Dior’s luxury aesthetic, bridging high fashion with an efortless cool. Chrome Hearts, the brand born from a signature California cool, also often drops coveted special edition pieces for and inspired by sur fng. Te brand’s West Coast roots, along with the founders’ love for St Barth, come together and create laidback luxury designs for the fashionable surfer. Vilebrequin is also no stranger to this in fuence; the luxe swimwear brand’s recent collaboration with Beau Lake made perfect sense, producing a sustainable paddle board design made with recycled plastic and the spirit of surf culture in mind.
Tese brands focus on sur fng as a way of life, drawing from archetypes and using silhouettes that are quintessentially cool. It’s not only about the sport and the way it’s done, but how it’s done—it’s all about the surfer’s uniform.
In a world where fashion and sustainability are beginning to merge, sur fng and its ethos ft right in. Designers drawing inspiration from the ocean’s sport create collections and pieces that highlight the beauty of nature and the importance of preserving it. Whether it’s through surfinspired accessories or a photograph that catalogs a moment in history, surf culture reminds us of the connection we have to the environment. At the end of the day, surf is art because it is about living in harmony with the planet.
