A DECADE IN REVIEW AND A LOOK FORWARD Back in 1998, something amazing happened to me that made me change the way I lived. That “something” is my wife. Although I had just bought my first property around that time, it really takes 2nd place to finding the right person that would support my next journey. In the year 2000, I decided to become a real estate professional. Every year since then has been better than the rest. Not necessarily income wise but experience wise. These 7 areas have been my core areas since I started and I know many of you are glad that I chose them. Of course, other amazing areas exist but these have always been the most popular amongst my client base. In fact, more than a few of you started with me in your 20s and are now mortgage free 30-somethings doing more travelling than anyone should be allowed to...its a good thing I am giving out Air Miles :) Where is the next decade headed, NO one knows. Environmentally Friendly Paint Products Spring is in the air. Why mask it with that ‘new paint smell’? Whether you are painting a home for resale or fixing up your newly-bought property with a fresh coat of colour, paint fumes don’t have to be part of the picture In response to consumer demand, leading paint producers now offer brands with low VOCs (volatile organic compounds). VOCs are chemicals that contribute to that ‘new paint smell’ that can sometimes linger for days – even weeks – after a painting project is finished. Due to concerns over the impact of VOCs on our environment and health, there is a growing trend among Canadians to seek out paints with low or no VOCs. The quality of these paints has improved dramatically over the last decade. Here are five major brands advertised in Canada as having low or no VOCs:

Not all low VOC paints are created equally. In Canada, Ottawa-based Eco Logo gives its third-party seal to low-VOC paints that meet its standards. In the U.S., the Green Seal organization provides certification for products meeting its specifications. Brands of low and no-VOC paints by manufacturers Denalt, Bétonel and Sico are among those that have achieved the Ecologo seal.

Boomerang Paints is an environmentally conscious company that recycles used paint and resells it under its low VOC brand. Boomerang paints are available in a variety of retail locations in eastern Canada.
