At the Ceremony, students are welcomed to the chiropractic profession by the Logan University administration, faculty, staff and students. Students are congratulated on their achievement of being selected into Logan’s Doctor of Chiropractic Program and are informed of their commitment as doctors-in-training. Students will become proficient in the science, art and philosophy of chiropractic as well as the human aspect of being a doctor, especially the obligation of caring for their patients.
With the vast amount of scientific and technical data the students are about to be immersed in, it is essential that they do not lose sight of the core objective of becoming a doctor— to do good for the health of the people they serve. Th is Ceremony symbolizes the students’ pledge to pursue their chiropractic education and training f rom this day forward, to as long as they treat patients, to put the interest of their patients before their own, to respect and value their fellow students as colleagues as well as those who have taught them, and to behave well and honorably throughout their careers, always striving to be worthy of the privilege of being a doctor.
With this oath, I commit myself to the responsibilities and privileges of being a chiropractic physician in training and to the obligations of the chiropractic profession.
My commitment to learning will be my priority and I will support and promote the betterment of my institution, education, and my chosen profession.
I will take an evidence informed approach to the art, science and philosophy of Chiropractic.
I will learn to care for my health as I learn to care for my future patients, respecting the past, learning from the present, and always continuing to strive to learn in my future.
I will represent myself with good character and a positive attitude, abiding by the Logan values and the ethics of being a student doctor.
I will act within my abilities and recognize my limitations.
I will remember that I remain a member of this University, chiropractic profession, and society, with special obligations and respect to my fellow students, teachers, mentors, and patients.
I take this oath as a call to action; not only for myself, but for the chiropractic profession, the greater healthcare system, and for the patients whose lives I will impact.
This oath I make freely and upon my honor as a student of Logan University College of Chiropractic.
Logan University acknowledges that we gather today on the ancestral lands of the Osage Nation, Quapaw Nation, Kaskaskia Tribe and Kickapoo Tribe who were removed unjustly, and that we in this community are the beneficiaries of that removal. We honor them as we live, work and study here at Logan University and thank them for their stewardship of this land.
