8am–10am, Riverdale Park, Meadowbrook BushCare’s Big Day Out is about enhancing Logan City Council’s Community BushCare Volunteer Program. Everyone is invited to come along and have a chat about the BushCare program, meet existing volunteers and plant some native trees. Morning tea will be provided. Please wear enclosed shoes and sunscreen and bring a hat and a water bottle. All tools and gloves will be supplied.

MAKING OLD CLOTHES NEW AGAIN: WORKSHOP Slow clothing pioneer Jane Milburn from Textile Beat will share upcycling ideas based on her own refashioned wardrobe. Bring along a few cast-offs from your wardrobe to discover options to refashion them for a second chance at life and to reduce your fashion footprint. Basic handsewing skills useful, but not essential, to attend this workshop.

There will be rods up for grabs and a kayak as a lucky door prize! Sausage sizzle and drinks can be purchased. There will also be plenty of other fishing games to play if you don’t wish to compete. RETHINKING WASTE AT HOME WORKSHOP

Learn practical tips from Roman Spur on how to grow enough organic food in your small backyard to provide for 5075% of your family’s fruit and vegetable needs. Roman will also show you how to make self-watering planter boxes.

This workshop will demonstrate practical ways to help the environment and save money by reducing your waste footprint at home. If you want to clear up the myths around recycling, learn what happens once your waste is collected from your home, and are keen to learn how you can further avoid, reduce and reuse your waste materials, then this workshop is for you! The workshop will include a behind-the-scene bus tour of the tip face and recycling facilities. Refreshments and morning tea will be provided and there will also be compost bin giveaways for 5 lucky workshop participants.The workshop is free of charge to members of the Logan community but registrations are required.
