BUNGALOW RENOVATION Project Info Existing bungalow consisted of two floors (ground and first). Clients were unsatisfied with the layout and were willing to construct second floor as the space was insufficient. Responsibilities 1. Assistant architect. Started working on this project on presentation phase of first option. 2. Participated in discussion with project architect and client regarding revised layout. 3. Designing furniture layout with one to one discussion with client. 4. Incorporating changes in revised drawings and making 3D model, presentation and municipal drawings.

COMMERCIAL COMPLEX
Project Info Project was at execution stage where pile foundation had already been completed. MEP (Mechanical, Electrical and Plumbing) and HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditining) drawings were not correlating with construction drawings. It needed immediate attention. Responsibilities 1. Assistant Architect. Thoroughly understand the complete set of existing construction details and drawings by technical consultants 2. Finding the flaws and editing them with respect to 3D model, construction drawings and forward the changes to site engineer for execution.

SANDEEP INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY Project Info One of the many structures in an Institutional campus for SAPKAL group; designed for chemical and electrical engineering department. Brief included classrooms, laboratories, tutorial rooms and auditorium. Responsibilities 1. Assistant Architect. Project was handed over to me at an intial zoning and planning stage. 2. Accompaning project architect for finalising plans with client. 3. Designing auditorium with respect to viewing angles and acoustic reflectors and absorbers. Clarification of doubts with acoustic consultants. 4. Facades detailing according to sunpaths. An attempt at avoiding harsh sunlight in classrooms during lectures.

CENTRE FOR PROMOTION OF ARTS at Nashik, Maharashtra, India
I believe life is ‘an art’ in itself and it should be inculcated in every individual and city’s progress. Nashik being a developing city majorly lacked in the field of art. Hence, Centre for Promotion of Arts. It included the following functions with respect to immediate past, present and immediate future:
Museum for different forms of art (Immediate Past) - Art works by renowned artists to be displayed. Key agenda would be to explore, understand and enjoy art forms with respect to aesthetic and theory. Workshops (Immediate Future) - Different workshops to be held for public under the guidance of experts. Key agenda would be to let people participate and experiment with of various forms of art. Gallery space (Present) - Displayed works would be the result of experiments from the workshop. Exhibitions to be held on temporary basis. Also, consultation clinics are provided for guidance in personal and household decorative arts and installation.
Amphitheatre and Wind-Catchers
CIRCULATION STRATEGY NODE A Human beings are complex and diverse creatures, but many differences between us can nonetheless be boiled down into a simple, binary distinction. Visitors start their journey from this node and the entrance to the campus is based on the above principle, where they have two choices viz. either get welcomed by a grand staircase or a narrow intriguing lane that passes through the staircase. Both of these entrances have alluring identities that lead to land art section. NODE B At this node, visitors could examine and notice different people working at the workshops. This would trigger their minds towards different form of arts as there would be live demonstration for them. Also it would prove as an advertisement strategy for the workshops and provoke an idea in the viewer’s mind of joining the workshops. NODE C This is the heart of the campus and here onwards people can access amphitheater, fine art museum, applied art museum or skip if any and enter the exhibition space.

NODE D People could rest or review their tour at this node. Space is surrounded by shopping market, restaurants and experts answering questions and doubts if any. NODE E Every person who visits the pedestrian shops and stalls could enter straight into the heart of the campus from here. Entrance designed in dramatic and inviting approach.

CONE OF VISION Human cone of vision considered while creating interesting spaces between different sections of campus. (NODE A) FOCUS CONTENT Filtered content provided so that visitors are not overloaded with the information. (NODE D) RIDE AND LESSON The circulation path is such that it is a ride for the visitors and triggers their minds regarding the importance of art in their lives. CAPTURE CURIOSITY Story telling techniques used to engage visitors. (NODE E) MODULARITY Smaller themes presented instead of large complex topic. MOTIVATE VISITORS Targeting an audience. 4th year studio project June 2011 - Nov 2011 Existing studio is a 150 year old structure with an appealing aura. It is most active place in the whole campus. As the structure is surrounded by the trees with great foliage, an attempt is made to incorporate these trees in the structure as design element. Beautiful wooden roof with heritage value is restored and cut into three parts which convert in workspaces. Existing roof tiles are replaced with transparent tiles that blur the indoor and outdoor spaces. The form is derived
STUDIO RE-DESIGN from the existing site conditions and the concepts of golden rectangle. Rain water is allowed to enter the building premises on the roof (as shown in sections). Also, all studios are designed in such a way that every student gets a private working space over-looking the nature and a common discussion space. Massive exposed spiral staircase and transparent roof adds charm to the new structure without affecting the identity of existing structure.

Perforated walls. Existing trees are shelter to many bats and wall openings are designed accordingly. It also helps in maintaining the internal temperature of the building due to venturi effect.

Site is located at a very busy street in Malad, Mumbai which includes residential and commercial complexes. The surroundings are very crowded and chaotic. So, a concept of introvert designing is used where a huge semi-open space is created inside the structure itself. This space has its own identity and functions like restaurants and coffee shops. It would change the ambience drastically from the busy neighbourhood. Proposed struc-
BUSINESS HOTEL ture has a dead front facade, so as to stand out from a narrow busy street. It would also act as a landmark. A sense of anticipation and curiosity would be created in the visitors while entering the building premises and they could feel the volume of this space through a long escalator reaching to reception, conference halls and rooms. Stack parking provided so that there is more usable and easily accessible space on ground floor.

IT IS NOT always visible but dirt and dust is everywhere around us; it is in the air that we breathe and on every surface. It also pervades the urban environment and, particularly in big cities, it readily accumulates on building facades. For the most part, this dirt is seen as ugly and unwanted and much effort is expended in trying to eradicate it. But look closely and there is a beauty to be found in the patterns it forms as it settles on walls, windows and other surfaces. There are many different kinds of accumulation pattern and each is a consequence of subtly different conditions of surface

texture, air movement and, of course, the type of dust. If only we could control these parameters; instead of being a maintenance problem, it could become a productive part of building design. My thesis explores the cultural background to and our attitudes towards it. I have also investigated the unrecognized aesthetics of dirt and I have worked experimentally with surface modulation, electrostatics and acoustic levitation to test the possibilities for manipulating dust on the surface of building and treating dust as architectural material rather than antithesis of architecture.

Silicon Experiments Particle behaviour and Accumulation: Experiment involved flour (substitute to dust) landing onto specific grades of sand paper placed at a specific inclination of 20, 40, 60 and 80 degrees. Friction Electrostatic Generator: Machine was designed to manipulate flour (substitute to dust) with the help of static charges. Materials such as aluminum sheet, conducting wire, silicon and plastic were used in building this machine. Acoustic Levitation: Acoustic levitation is a technique where you could suspend matter with the help of sound waves of ultrasonic frequencies. This method could help us control or manipulate floating behaviour of particulate matter in urban environment.

Workshop Jan 2016 - Sept 2016 Mapping: The concept of mapping is entirely oriented towards experimentation in contact with real and due to its unfolding agency; it is easier to find hidden potentials of the site and design. Maps are different than tracings. They are regarded with the performance while tracing involves alleged competence and hence tracing effectively dominates the exploratory inventiveness integral to acts of mapping. An attempt was made on mapping my life (adjacent image) with re-tracing already known facts and it did inaugurate new and different types of aspects which otherwise wouldn’t have.

MAPPING . MAKING Making: I believe, the lesser the amount of detail specified in the drawings, the more ambiguous the imaginative conception of the building they represent. Making workshop focuses on creating drawings, models or sketches in order to critically understand the concept of perspective drawings. My key agenda was to create a pseudo perspective with a fixed viewing point. It was achieved by creating technical drawing (as shown below) and model (as shown on the cover page). It reveals the difference between experiencing architecture via drawings, models, sketches and the actual buildings.

APPLIED ANIMATION Module addresses the application of advanced 3D modeling and animation in architectural design. Key interest was to explore the transformation and manipulation of a basic 2-Dimensional square. Grounded in the related practice of computational design, this exploration capitalizes on the potential of contemporary animation software to simulate material qualities and behaviours. TYRES AND TUBES for Mr. Rekhi
Tyres and Tubes - A showroom for automobile accessories. Existing showroom was located on a national highway and had improper circulation and furniture layout. Mr. Rekhi had asked me to transform the design of the showroom and make it user-friendly according to their requirements in such a way that it would get an identity and be noticeable from the highway. Hence a bright colour theme is chosen for the new design. The green lit square on the front wall has a distinctive identity which serves its purpose of adding liveliness and charm to the space. The single tyre stand is designed keeping in mind the showroom size which is 3.6m X 9.6m (a very elongated space). The curve helps in freeing the space at eye level as the width of the room is very small.
