The years 2016–18 have been characterised by dramatic political conflict and radical shifts in the practice of political leadership across Britain, Europe and the United States. Established political elites, institutional arrangements and policy practices have been challenged by insurgent political movements. These developments have prompted some to declare a crisis of democracy. This summer school will examine and assess the nature of these challenges and the validity of this claim. You will examine these issues through participation in discussions with academic experts and fellow students and the development of presentations.
