ow in its ninth year, the London Mozart Players weekend at the Grand Hotel has become a permanent feature of the hotel’s calendar and is enormously popular. Our first concert features two of the most popular chamber works ever composed – the clarinet quintets of Mozart and Brahms. The clarinettist will be Angela Malsbury, the LMP’s principal clarinettist for many years. On Saturday evening, the ensemble performs two quintets by Elgar and Fauré; these are less well-known than those by Mozart and Brahms but both are masterpieces of their genre. The LMP Chamber Ensemble will be joined by Cordelia Williams who, since becoming the piano category winner of BBC Young Musician 2006, has built a career as one of the outstanding pianists of her generation.

After the concert, dinner with wine will be served in the Garden restaurant, with the LMP’s musicians in attendance. Dancing to the sound of the Simon Goodwin Band in the Chatsworth Room Saturday 5 February 2011 In the morning, after a hearty breakfast, enjoy an illustrated talk on the programme taking place later that evening. During the afternoon Shelley van Loen and Palm Court Strings will play by the Great Hall fire during with tea and pastries. There is also the opportunity to join the musicians for an open rehearsal as they prepare for the evening’s concert. At 6.30pm
