THE SPEAKERS Fiona Webster Fiona is a national newspaper journalist, magazine editor and broadcaster. She has been an opinion columnist on the Daily Mirror, a news reporter on The Sun in New York and her work has appeared in The Sunday Times, The Guardian, The Independent, The Daily Telegraph, the Mail on Sunday and the Daily Express. She also worked as a television producer and presenter at ITV. Fiona runs the post graduate journalism courses at The Press Association, Britain’s top news agency and journalism training centre, where recent graduates have landed jobs at the BBC, ITV, The Times, CNN and The Wall Street Journal. Fiona has also taught on the Daily Mail, Daily Telegraph and Irish Independent’s graduate schemes.
Matt Taylor Matt is currently working on digital strategy and development at The Times. Since graduating Queen Mary, University of London, Matt has been a freelance sub-editor and digital production editor before his getting his current position.
Jem Collins Jem is a professional video, online and social media journalist, with several years of experience at both a local and national level. She is currently the News and Social Media Editor for RightsInfo, as well as heading up a start-up to help young people into the media, JournoResources. Jem is also a trustee and previous Chair of SPA.
Martin Stabe Martin is head of Interactive News at the Financial Times. He manages a team of journalists, designers and web developers who create new digital storytelling formats, including multimedia stories, interactive news applications and podcasts for the FT.
Aubrey Allegretti Bree is currently a political reporter for the Sky News website and app. Previously he has been both a political reporter and news reporter for Huffington Post as well as a political researcher for NewsUK. He was Editor-in-Chief of the Badger when he was at Sussex University. Bree is also a trustee and previous Digital Officer of SPA.
Alastair Reid Alastair is currently a social media journalist at Press Association. He was previously Managing Editor of First Draft News, UGC Producer at Al Jazeera English and Editor of Journalism.co.uk.
