Join in these fun, interactive music sessions with Vanessa King which give your child the chance to interact creatively with LSO musicians and other children. Group sizes are limited to 15, ensuring all children receive individual attention from the Early Years team.

Vanessa King and LSO musicians re-tell a popular children’s story through music. Join in with all the songs and musical games we come across on our journey and hear how the instruments bring the story to life.

Join LSO players and Guildhall musicians as they explore Russian music with presenter Rachel Leach.

A Gamelan is a musical ensemble from Indonesia featuring gongs, metallophones, drums and bamboo flutes. The Gamelan Group offers sessions for beginners through to experienced players, so anyone can have a go.

Free entry, just turn up on the day!

Join Mark Withers, LSO musicians and other special guests to explore the music of the London Symphony Orchestra in these interactive and inclusive workshops. Try an instrument, do some creative music making of your own and have a go at performing and sharing your music with others. Open to adults with learning disabilities and their care workers.

Community Choir Concert Suitable for all ages

Mon 18 Nov 7.30pm Jerwood Hall, LSO St Luke’s Brighten up a wet and windy November evening by coming to watch the dynamic LSO Community Choir in their Autumn concert. There will be a whole mixture of repertoire from Bach to Bublé, reggae to Rachmaninov, as well as some trademark audience participation, all under the encouraging eye of the choir’s newly appointed Associate Conductor, David Lawrence. Young musicians Developing the musicians of tomorrow

Digital Technology Group Workshops for 12- to 18-year-olds

Every Monday at 4pm, 23 Sep to 25 Nov (except 28 Oct) Candide Discovery Room, LSO St Luke’s The Digital Technology Group (DTG) is an initiative set up by the LSO to support aspiring young musicians, composers and producers (aged 13 to 20) in the local area. Whether your interests are in rock, hip-hop or classical music, DTG can provide you with the skills to record and produce your music using professional studio equipment. Through regular hands-on sessions with industry experts and collaboration with other young musicians, you will have the opportunity to develop your music and creative performance skills.

LSO Soundhub Worker’s Union Ensemble For all ages over 12

Sat 9 Nov 7.30–9.30pm Jerwood Hall, LSO St Luke’s LSO Soundhub is the LSO’s initiative to support up-andcoming composers across a wide range of musical genres. Based at LSO St Luke’s, Soundhub provides a flexible space where composers can explore, collaborate and experiment, with access to vital resources, support from industry professionals and LSO players.

The Workers Union Ensemble, in association with LSO Soundhub, presents the London date of their PRS for Music funded Constructing a Repertoire tour. The concert will feature new works by Joe Cutler, Daniel Saleeb and Composer-in-Association Matthew Kaner alongside pieces by Laurence Crane and Matthew Shlomowitz. The concert will also feature the final of the ensemble’s Call for Works competition.

Britten’s ‘Friday Afternoons’ Suitable for all ages

Fri 22 Nov 6pm Jerwood Hall, LSO St Luke’s Join some of LSO Discovery’s younger participants as they explore Benjamin Britten’s Friday Afternoons, a set of twelve songs written for school children. Part of a national initiative by Aldeburgh Music to encourage as many young people as possible to sing the songs on what would have been Britten’s 100th birthday. The short and witty songs were written for the composer’s schoolmaster brother and the boys of Clive House preparatory school, Prestatyn – a school in which choir practice and singing lessons regularly took place on a Friday afternoon.
