Moments before the big night’s presentations, the EGC Group offices are abuzz with the clacking of computer keyboards and calls for refreshments. The 60-person staff of the Melville-based digital marketing agency was putting the finishing touches on creative projects for two nonprofits as part of an annual 24-hour pro bono marathon. The Melville-based digital marketing agency is one of many across the country that took part in CreateAthon—an annual event that connects creative profession-

als with nonprofits groups in need of assistance. CreateAthon was founded roughly 20 years ago and has produced more than 3,500 projects for 1,300-plus nonprofit. The combined value of the projects are $16.7 million, said Jana RaphaelMcDonough a spokeswoman for Maracaibo Media Group, which represents EGC. “We are the sole exclusive New York-area agency that participates and this is our eighth year participating,” said Ernie Canadeo, founder and president of EGC. “We send out invites for charities to apply and then we have a committee here that selects the

most appropriate ones,” he added. Canadeo says that he and his team look for charities that want help branding themselves, and during the CreateAthon event EGC dedicates 24 hours of company pro bono work creating successful campaigns and giving notfor-profits the tools to successfully promote themselves when they’d otherwise lack the funds to hire companies like EGC to do it for them. “We really want to help understand what they want to accomplish, how they feel they can grow and how we can help rebrand them,” Canadeo said. “We’ve done
