Dust off those parachute pants, tease that hair and get ready to go back to the ’80s. Jessie’s Girl, the 80’s revival band led by “American Idol” finalist and Tony nominee Constantine Maroulis, brings back the era with a tribute show that channels the likes of Madonna, Cyndi Lauper, Michael Jackson, Journey, The Police, and, yes, Rick Springfield, next Friday, Jan. 3 at The Paramount. Named for Rick Springfield’s hit song, Jesse’s Girl is winding down a long-standing residency at New York City’s Canal Room, which is closing in early January. Four members of a district-wide Half Hollow Hills high school orchestra took center stage in Times Square Dec. 17, creating memories that will last well after they graduate as the Class of 2014. Fourteen days before New Year’s Eve, the Class of 2014 quartet, featuring Hills East seniors Roger Cheng on viola and John Ahn on cello and Hills West seniors Simon Lee and Jake Zipkin on violin, helped unveil the big “14”, part of the lighted “2014” that will be perched atop One Times Square as millions ring in the New Year during the annual ball drop. “One of the kids is sitting there, and he said, ‘This is the highlight of my senior year. I will never forget this,” Karen Romeo, the Half Hollow Hills CrossCampus Chamber Orchestra director, said. The students performed classical works including Mozart’s Quartet #157 and Eine Kleine Nachtmusik at the Times Square

P. F. Chang’s is the newest restaurant anchor to join the foodie lineup at the Walt Whitman Shops in Huntington Station. The grand opening was Monday, Dec. 23.

Burgers? Check. Pasta? Check. And gourmet Chinese food? As of Monday, the Walt Whitman Shops can check that box off too, with the Dec. 23 grand opening of P.F. Chang’s. The China bistro will be the last of four new eateries at the Walt Whitman road shopping—and now, foodie—destination this year. The Huntington Station restaurant will be P.F. Chang’s third location to open on Long Island, following the opening of a Lake Grove location at the Smith Haven Mall in November. P.F. Chang’s, located towards the south end of the mall, constructed a new brick exterior façade and will be accessible from outside the mall, joining other restaurant anchors The Cheesecake Factory and Legal Sea Foods. The Huntington Station location will offer the same P.F. Chang’s core menu that is available at most other restaurant locations. (Continued on page A23)
