D&E Hope by the time you read this the weather has gotten back to NORMAL (whatever
that is!) I’m writing this on January 10th. It’s COLD. It’s POURING RAIN. It’s WINDY. And our kid’s flight back to Illinois got cancelled as we were entering the Brownsville Airport. They’re looking on the bright side. They have one more day before hitting below zero temps and snow! I’ve decided i’m going to look on the bright side, too. We have a couple of more months of FUN here at LIV, no matter what the weather is like. So, here’s what to look forward to in February: Monday, February 2nd, it’s another fun Cocktail Party with Jeff Crocker from 4 - 6 PM. Tickets are $5.00 at the door. Don’t forget, it’s now BYOE (Bring Your Own Everything) except for water and ice. We will have that available. So far most of you seem happy with the new way of cocktailing. Thanks for being so flexible! Saturday, February 7th, is our annual Valentine’s Snack Dance with Good Times Band from 6 - 10 PM. Tickets are $5.00 at the door and BYOE (including your snacks). Originally this was going to be a dinner dance, but just couldn’t be done with the parking lot situation. Sunday, February 15th will be a really special show with Brian Arnold from 3 - 5 PM. This man was so outstanding we just had to invite him back. Tickets will be sold at the door. “God brought Brian to a career in music. At the age of six he lost his left leg in a lawn mowing accident but with the help of his mother, discovered a talent he didn’t know he had. Being in choir all through high school and then landing a job as a main vocalist and piano player for a music show, Brian’s career thrived. He has fronted as a piano player for, Tanya Tucker, Roger Miller, Ricky Skaggs, Roy Clark, Ray Stevens, Loretta Lynn and more.
Calling All Donors The blood drive for this year is Feb 9th , 8am-1200. The Blood Mobile will be parking in the Welcome Center Parking lot. Hope to see a good turn out for this very worthy event.

We try hard to get as much information to you each month as possible, and we really try to get it right. Unfortunately sometimes stuff happens and stuff changes and there’s nothing we can do about it, so please check in at the Activity Center and watch the marquis so you can keep up with everything. You certainly don’t want to miss something because of a change, right???

LIV BOARD MEETINGS
Thanksgiving and Christmas Community Pot Luck Dinners
It’s been about 4 years since I asked, “When will we be able to sign up for the Thanksgiving Pot Luck?” That led to my education in the history of the event with organizers who were often Board members to the event being held by the Atrium (Grill) and to its demise. While I was busy working and traveling it seems the event just disappeared and as I was the one to ask for it, I was asked to host it. Yet another lesson in “be careful what you ask for”! Just joking as organizing the community holiday pot lucks which now includes Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter has been a joy. A few years ago I was told by a Board member that residents were asking about an Easter Pot Luck and asked if I would organize one, so I added that also. This year just under 100 attended Thanksgiving and over 100 were at the Christmas Event. The White Elephant gift exchange also disappeared after being hosted by Kathy and Eric Von Schweinitz for about 15 years. I did a survey and many asked to have it resurrected at the Christmas Day event and so it was done with their blessing. Last year I was lucky to have Ellie Boven join me and as I was gone she took the lead in making Christmas Pot Luck happen. Now I can’t imagine the events without her as she has a great sense of decoration and joy in living that is inspirational! But it is the efforts of all who attend that make the holiday pot lucks so wonderful; volunteers who help set up and ready the food (too many to list but you know who you are and hopefully how much we all appreciate your help), food that is amazing, great laughs and a wonderful sense of community that is what attracted me to LIV 20 years ago. It is so nice to see that it remains important to many to gather together as a community on the holidays for a few hours to remember and share the best of the community spirit and experience. Hope to see you all at the Easter Pot Luck, how about creating an Easter Bonnet/ Hat for the event?

LIV RENTAL PROPERTY At the August 27, 2014 meeting, the Board voted to Eliminate 3rd Party Rentals. The Association needed to follow the direction given by our attorney which was: • LIVOA must enforce the 2005 Restated Declarations and all property owners at LIV must comply with the 2005 Restated Declarations. The March 2005 Restated Declarations specifically state in Article VII. that LIVOA “has the exclusive right … to rent lots, which are a part of the Condominium as established by Declaration.” Therefore, any property owner that uses a 3rd Party (instead of LIVOA) to rent their property at LIV is in violation of the 2005 Restated Declarations. LIVOA must put any property owner that violates the 2005 Restated Declarations on notice (pursuant to the 2011 Restated Rules and Regulations of LIVOA) of the violation. LIVOA must then follow the procedures set out in the 2011 Restated Rules and Regulations. Attorney, Rafael Garcia The Designation of Owner form will be eliminated immediately and 3rd party renters that are presently in place will be done effective January 1, 2015. Owner’s who rent out their property will then have to fill out the Guest of owner form as they have in the past and present it to the office in person, by mail or by e-mail. If the owner does not want to handle their own rental, they can put the property in the LIV Rental Pool at 956-943-6449 or 1-800-292-7261 Questions can also be addressed by calling the General Manager at 956-572-5671
