THE LAY OF THE LAND At the heart of Long Meadow Ranch is a family dedicated to tradition. Our connection with the land is what continues to drive our purpose after three decades. Our three wine estates, planted with over 150 acres of vineyards, make up the backbone of Long Meadow Ranch. Vineyards are farmed using organic practices certified by California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF). The Mayacamas Estate, our home ranch in the Napa Valley, is planted with 16 acres of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sangiovese, and Cabernet Franc at elevations of 800 to 1300 feet. Our Rutherford Estate was once a riverbed and has 74 acres planted to Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Petit Verdot. Here is where we cultivate and tend to our fruits and vegetables, beehives, and our growing flock of egg-laying chickens. With over 500 varietals of organic heirloom fruits and vegetables, our diverse ranch defies the monoculture that reigns supreme in Napa Valley. In Mendocino County, our Anderson Valley Estate resides in the west or “deep end” of the valley. Here, 69 acres of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Pinot Gris thrive in the coastal air. Our full circle farming system relies on each aspect of the ranch to contribute to the health of the whole. From the vineyards to the livestock to the produce, each plays a part in our holistic mission for the land.

Created as an homage to Long Meadow Ranch’s pioneering settler — E.J. Church, who first acquired the property in 1872 — this barrel selection from our Mayacamas Estate exemplifies the finest expression of our terroir. Grapes come from Church’s original southwest-facing mountainside vineyard sites and are grown at 1,300 feet in elevation, resulting in deep, ripe fruit and elegant, textural tannins. The heart of our Anderson Valley Estate is our Tanbark Mill Vineyard. The Navarro River forms the southeast border to the property, and the Pacific Ocean is in close proximity, bringing cool sea breezes and a marine layer blanketing the vineyards, creating the ideal terroir for our estate-grown Burgundian varietals. Tanbark Mill Vineyard contains unique micro-sites of different soils, each offering specific expressions to our wines. With our estate bottlings, we wanted to highlight the distinct characteristics of each block. Our Perrygulch Pinot Noir is planted on a dense loam soil of the same name on a steep hill. Highly aromatic, the palate shows a lovely balance of ample fullness, durable structure, energy, and finesse. Pinole Pinot Noir comes from a site of heavier loam soil, which gives the wine a certain richness, fine yet firm tannins, and a vivid acidity. Our Feliz Chardonnay is planted in gravelly loam, a deep and well-draining type of soil. It is precise, fresh and complex with controlled power and length. It a fine and elegant expression of the Tanbark Mill Feliz terroir.

Our Prato Lungo groves are the oldest olive orchards in the Napa Valley. Abandoned for years, these trees were hidden by dense forest until Ted and Chris Hall discovered them while exploring the property in the 1990s. We cultivate eight acres of these ancient trees and even propagated them to grow new ones to fill in missing plots within the historic groves. The Highland breed has lived for centuries in the rugged, remote highlands of Scotland, where extremely harsh conditions led to natural selection. Only the fittest, most adaptable animals survived. We’re proud owners of one of the largest herds of this fine animal in California. Several hundred strong, these pastureraised cattle are at home on our more than 800-acre Tomales Station. Our Highlands are grass-fed and grass-finished and are raised employing a protocol that is entirely hormone- and antibiotic-free. We have acquired some of the oldest bloodlines in the country, which represent the very best attributes of this classic breed. FARMSTEAD PUMPKIN PIE RECIPE PIE CRUST INGREDIENTS • • • • •

2 ½ cups all purpose flour 2 sticks (8oz) unsalted butter, cold salt 1 tsp sugar 6-8 tbsp cold water

PIE FILLING INGREDIENTS • • • • • • • •

¾ cup granulated sugar 1 tsp ground cinnamon ½ tsp ground ginger ¼ tsp ground clove ½ tsp salt 2 eggs 15oz can pumpkin puree 12oz can evaporated milk

PIE CRUST INSTRUCTIONS – Combine flour, sugar, and salt in a bowl. – Cut cold butter into cubes and add to the bowl. – Using your finger tips cut the butter into the flour by pinching the butter into small pieces, repeating this process until all butter is broken down into almond size chunks. – Slowly add cold water while mixing together with your hands. Once the dough starts to form, dump out onto a floured surface and knead the dough until it is well combined. You want to be able to see chunks of butter that give the dough its flakiness. – Wrap in plastic and let it rest in the refrigerator for at least one hour before rolling out. – Roll out into a circle slightly bigger than your pie shell. Place in pie shell and form to the shell. Freeze until ready to bake. PIE FILLING INSTRUCTIONS – – – – – –

Preheat oven to 400°F Combine sugar, salt, and spices in a bowl, stir to combine. Add eggs and whisk until light in color and frothy. Whisk in pumpkin puree, followed by the evaporated milk. Whisk until smooth and completely mixed together. Fill frozen, unbaked, pie shell all the way to the top with filling. Load into oven and drop the temperature to 360°F. Bake for 40 to 50 minutes or until knife comes out clean when inserted in the center of the pie. Allow the pie to cool for 2 hours on a wire rack.
