Our staff are COMMITTED & APPROACHABLE

At Long Road, we share a passion for learning and its capacity to transform lives; we strive to encourage and inspire you to be the best that you can be.

You will be taught by highly qualified subject specialist teachers who will get to know you as an individual. During classes they will expect high levels of student participation and mature group discussions; with their support and guidance you will learn the skills needed to confidently express and present your own opinions in a professional and academic manner. All of our teachers are friendly and approachable, you will call them by their first name and smaller class sizes mean you will receive more one-to-one attention than you’re used to in Secondary School. Throughout your studies your teachers will also develop your skills in evaluation, organisation, time-management, and research techniques.

Inspiring you to find your vision is key to the Progress Coach role. At the start of your course they will introduce you to the VESPA framework, helping you make use of effective tools that enable you to develop a positive mindset and aim high, reflect on what you’re good at, and develop the new skills, systems and attitudes necessary for successful sixth form study. We know it feels like a big step - but your Progress Coach will help you build your confidence. You got this!

As you begin to find your feet, your Progress Coach will always be there to keep a close eye on how you’re getting on; they will help you stay on track and give you the support you need, when you need it. Overseeing your academic progress, they will update you and your family on your achievements and celebrate your successes. The team works closely with teachers, Academic Support, and the Wellbeing team to make sure that everyone gets the care they need. Our collaborative approach will help you to get the most out of your study programme, and your Progress Coach is always there to reach out with a helping hand.
