N | ADVOCACY | COLLABOR The Chamber is called to problems because we CARE about people! Too often individuals want to activate the miraculous, but we are not willing to ask the tough questions. Why is this? Jim Collins in his book Good to Great believes too often leaders get locked into compensation packages, technology, mergers and acquisitions, and change management initiatives. These areas while important play relative minor roles in moving forward. Instead Collins focuses on three (3) main factors: be asking what is the ONE thing the chamber does better than anyone else? We are great storytellers-we promote and sell Longview! Now, I bet you are wondering; how does the Chamber tell Longview’s story? Great question! During the shutdown staff called members to check in and capture their stories. Maybe, you saw the article in the

There is no doubt the weight and magnitude that COVID has caused many of us to become distracted! COVID + a rocky economy has led many individuals towards the hedgehog instinct (curl up into a protective ball). I believe in Longview! We have so many ways to engage and build a community that will allow generations who follow to be successful.

I believe in our business community! This year our business community has helped lift each other up during difficult times by sharing best practices and investing in each other’s businesses.

I believe in our public and private school systems! We have seen teachers and administrators seek new ways to deliver quality education and prepare students for the future.

I believe in our faith-based organizations! Churches have pressed in to share their messages and beliefs, they have cared for their congregations, and they are uniting through UNITE Longview to strengthen our community!
