OUR HISTORY Our roots are 138 years deep.

1876 1st National Bank was chartered Sept. 15, 1876, as a private banking house under the name of Sacket, Fitch & Company in an old wooden building, currently occupied by 1st National Investment Services in Berlin, WI.

1897 Half of the block that included the bank's rented quarters was destroyed by a fire. Following the fire, the corporation purchased the Huron Street and Fox Alley location in Berlin and erected the present brick structure.

ACH blocks are the simplest of all products to use. They allow companies to notify their banks that ACH debits should not be allowed on certain accounts. With a block in place, no ACH debit, even one that is authorized, will be able to get through on a given account. Everyone is advised to put blocks in place on all accounts where ACH activity is not likely to be used.

Transform your computer into a virtual banking branch. Check account balances, transfer funds between accounts, and pay bills—all available aroundthe-clock at the simple click of a mouse.

Optimize the use of your organization’s funds by automatically paying down your line of credit over a predetermined target balance. On a daily basis, the sweep automatically transfers excess collected funds to perform a principal reduction of your line of credit. The exact total of checks and other disbursements is swept back to your checking account as necessary. The sweep creates an efficient method of managing your organization’s credit and cash needs.

The bank will then “filter” incoming debits and allow through only those that are on the list submitted. • Prevent unwanted ACH activity on specific accounts • Preauthorize your trusted vendors

Your time is extremely valuable. Create more of it with this convenient, timesaving service. • Fast, free, secure • Available anywhere with internet access

Every check you originate is automatically compared to a list of previously authorized checks. If any discrepancies are detected, you are immediately notified and payment is held, pending your review. • Catch fraudulent items before the money leaves your account • Protect your company’s assets from check fraud • Imperfect matches flagged before payment • Mismatched checks not paid, unless authorized by you as an exception • Timely check return deadlines for success

SWEEP: REPURCHASE INVESTMENT Optimizes the use of your business’ funds by automatically investing any funds above your target balance/limit. The “sweep” transfers excess collected funds on a daily basis to your Repurchase Account. The exact total of checks and other disbursements is swept back to your checking account as necessary. A primary benefit of the sweep is that it occurs automatically on a daily basis, investing excess funds, which could otherwise lie idle in your business’ checking account. The short-term nature of the Repurchase Sweep allows your company to maintain liquidity, while simultaneously earning investment income.

On a daily basis, the sweep automatically transfers excess collected funds to perform a principal reduction of your line of credit. Once the line of credit has been paid in full, the excess funds are transferred to a repurchase investment account. Conversely, as funds are needed in your business checking account, they are first transferred from the money market mutual fund or repurchase investment account and then from the line of credit until the checking account is back to its target balance.

ESTATE MATTERS*

1st National Investments can help you build financial management strategies to enhance your future.

Regardless of where you live, what you do for a living, and the lifestyle you personally enjoy, there are many forms of insurance that could provide some financial protection from life’s unknowns.

A sound investment strategy based on your financial goals, time horizon, and risk tolerance could serve you well over the long run. To build a portfolio that could help meet your needs, you should consider why you are investing and the time frame available before you need the money.

Setting the stage for a comfortable retirement involves determining how much you need to save and developing a roadmap to pursue your goal. It is never too early to prepare for retirement.

Your estate comprises all the wealth you have accumulated over your lifetime, including real estate, stocks, bonds, business interests, retirement plans, personal effects, and anything else you own.

How much will you need? It will depend on what age you would like to retire? How many years will you spend in retirement? Will you pay for health-care expenses out of pocket, or will a former employer help cover the costs?

Effective estate conservation can provide several benefits: select the people and/or organizations you want to receive your assets, and determine how and when they received their inheritance.

Be prepared for life’s surprises. A sudden job loss— even unexpected expenses like a major car repair or medical bill—could be devastating if you don’t have adequate cash cushion. Create an emergency fund. This type of account should be held in a bank saving account or money market were the cash is readily available to you when needed. For guidance when making these decisions, contact a financial advisor at 1st National Investments.

It is worth the time and effort to review your coverage and evaluate whether it is still adequate for your family’s needs. This includes homeowners, auto, health and Medicare, disability income and life insurance. Before implementing a strategy involving life insurance, consult a financial advisor at 1st National Investments.

WE ARE FORWARD THINKING We are the 2014 recipient of the Wisconsin Governor’s award for Financial Literacy. We reach thousands of Wisconsin children every year with our in-school programming and extra-curricular events. We are setting the foundation for a successful financial future in today’s youth. WE GIVE BACK Every year, we donate thousands of dollars to local non-profit organizations for the betterment of our communities. We help hundreds of organizations in dozens of communities. We know that strengthening our communities contributes to everyone’s success – and we want to enhance all of your possibilities. WE DEDICATE OUR TIME FOR OTHERS Together, our team dedicates over 6,000 hours of community service. That’s an average of 65 hours per employee directly benefiting our communities every year.

FINANCIAL LITERACY INITIATIVE Teaching communities healthy financial habits.

The importance of financial literacy in our communities is critical, as challenging financial decisions are presented every day. 1st National Bank recognizes the importance of reaching people with our message so they can make informed financial decisions.

As part of our mission, we’ve dedicated a team of people to reach out to local schools and organizations with two Financial Literacy programs—at no cost. Our Financial Literacy efforts gained us recognition from the Governor of Wisconsin in 2012 & 2014 with the Governor’s Award for Financial Literacy (the only bank recognized in Wisconsin in 2012).

Each year we participate in “Teach Children to Save Day,” a program sponsored by the American Banker’s Association. Our team is deployed into area schools where they reach more than 2000 students over the course of the month. Financially focused activities help children understand good money habits, how spending actions affect their future, and basic banking functions.

1st National Bank plans to continue our financial literacy program and expand our reach state-wide.
