01865 407757 Do you work on your own vehicle? ~~~~~~ Are you a member of a Car Club looking for a place to meet? ~~~~~~ Do you need somewhere secure and dry to store your vehicle? ~~~~~~ Ever wished you could work in a warm, professional quality garage or needed to get under your vehicle to complete a job?
This is Your Garage is a unique new business coming to South Oxfordshire, that
will allow you to do all of the above and more.
This month Look Local met with owner, Dave Ridgway, to ask your burning questions about how this new concept in vehicle care could change your life. What made you decide to open ‘This is Your garage?’ I have always wanted to run my own business but like many people had not had the “killer” idea that would convince me to give up a very successful and secure career. This changed a few years ago when I was stuck under my 1973 Bay Window Camper van cleaning off old paint and dirt! I thought to myself how good it would be if there was a local garage that would rent me their lift and tools so I could avoid crawling around on the floor. There wasn’t anything local to me and that is when I first started thinking
12 06
about TIYG. Two years later and after a whole lot of research and planning we are now only weeks away from opening the first TIYG site. What does ‘This is your garage’ consist of as a site? The original idea was just about providing somewhere people like me could work on their own cars. The “Self Service” workshop is still the heart of the business but the concept has grown to also include secure vehicle storage, a retail shop selling parts, tools and TIYG merchandise and probably the biggest addition is “The Club”. We wanted to also bring like minded people together and offer a meeting place for local clubs. To do this we are creating a social space overlooking the main workshop where our members can meet, chat and recharge in a really cool and comfortable environment.

OPENING MAY 2015! The UK’s Premier Self Service Workshop, Car Club and Vehicle Storage Facility. Who do you see as a typical ‘This is Your garage’ customer or client’ if such a thing exists? TIYG will hopefully appeal to a wide range of people. Whilst TIYG is the perfect place for owners of classic and vintage vehicles to work on their cars and meet other enthusiasts we believe the facility has something to offer anyone that is interested in cars and wants to work on their own vehicle. Anyone from your first time driver that can’t afford to pay a garage to fix their car through to amateur race teams wanting to prep for their next big race could use TIYG. What kit can people expect to be able to use at the garage? Each of our 7 work bays will come with a comprehensive tool kit. We will also supply specialist tools and a range of air tools that can be hired
individually (for use at TIYG only). We will provide all drainers for clean oil changes and we will dispose of any waste oils for you. In the parts preparation area our members will have access to parts washers and a media blasting cabinet. A full range of lifting equipment (engine cranes, stands etc) will also be available. All of our equipment will be of a professional quality and well maintained. What is the ‘The Club’ all about? As well as the workshop we wanted to create a place where car enthusiasts and clubs could meet. The Club at TIYG is going to be the social hub of the business. We can seat up to about 50 people and will be able to cater for small or large groups. Members will be able to relax and unwind in a comfortable and welcoming space. Are we going to see events

at ‘This is Your Garage’ too? Yes, during the Summer we hope to put on our events as well as host local club open days / evenings. The facility will also be available for members to hire for private events and parties. When will the whole project be fully functioning? Our vehicle storage facility is up and running now. The main workshop is being fitted out as is the club area. If all goes to plan we will welcome our first customers to the facility in early April 2015. Motoring Vehicle Review:
First Drive: All New Kia Sorento By Tim Barnes-Clay, weekly road test journalist for Confused.com.
If you want a family car with seven seats then look no further than the all-new Kia Sorento.
Once known for being a
budget brand, Kia has gone way beyond that and is competing with premium vehicles. That’s not spin – it’s fact. Just get behind the wheel of the Sorento and the vehicle speaks for itself. The third-generation model is better equipped, more refined, stylish and technologically advanced than before. It’s longer, lower and wider too, thanks to a revolutionised platform, while an extended wheelbase creates greater room in all three rows of seats. You’ll probably only be looking at this car if you have kids, so, as a father-of-three, I know safety will be at the forefront of your mind. Rest easy, because the Sorento has been awarded with a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating. Safety technologies include Advanced Smart Cruise Control, Blind Spot Detection, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Lane Departure Warning System, Around View Monitoring and Speed Limit Information. In the UK, the new Sorento range comprises six models at launch. All are powered by a 2.2-litre turbo diesel engine, with either a six-

speed manual or automatic gearbox. All have permanent, intelligent all-wheel drive and trim levels are KX-1, KX-2, KX-3 and KX-4. I drove the mid range KX-2 and higher range KX-3 around the beautiful roads of Marbella in Spain. Both test cars came with the smoothchanging manual gearbox – and, to be honest, it was hard to tell the trim levels apart. That’s good though, because it shows how well Kia has started to deck out its motors. The Sorento has soft-touch surfaces throughout the cabin; however the elephanthide-look dash material is overdone. That said; the seats come in black leather, creating a classy appearance. The standard instrument cluster features clear white-on-black graphics which deliver all essential information at a glance, but in the KX-3 version this is replaced by a seven-inch TFT (Thin Film Transistor) display which adds an even more premium look to the dashboard, and allows greater personalisation of the information provided. Legroom has been increased in all three rows of seating. The second-row seats slide forward, giving muchimproved access to the two seats in the rear, which now offer enough space to accommodate adults. Even
better, the transmission tunnel has been completely eliminated, resulting in a completely flat floor for your passengers’ feet. The boot is longer than before too, and loading up is a doddle because of the Sorento’s low, easy access sill. In conclusion, minutely detailed body, cabin and chassis engineering work has resulted in a large SUV which is not only more engaging to drive, but also more refined to travel in. And with a seven-year or 100,000-mile warranty, the Sorento will deliver peace of mind, which is priceless when it comes to family motoring. PRO’s & CON’s Spacious

Recipe
Irresistible Chocolate Tart
For the shortc rust pastry, you will need;
225g plain fl our 120g cold cube d butter 3 egg yolks 100g caster sugar
For the filling , you will need ;
450g dark chocolate 450g double cream 125g caster sugar 70g butter
For ingredient s for the white and method chocolate sauce and C hantilly crea m, visit our web site. This chocolate tart with raspberry Chantilly cream and white chocolate sauce might seem daunting, but once you break down the recipe you’ll see just how simple it is to knock together and impress dinner party guests (If you don’t feel up to making the pastry yourself, you can buy ready made, making the recipe even easier)! Method for the pastry: 1.
Put your flour and butter in a food processor and pulse until the mixture resembles bread crumbs (or rub the butter and flour between your hands in a large mixing bowl, handling as little as possible).
2.
Add the egg yolks and sugar and pulse again until the mix comes together (mix the yolks and sugar with a knife if you are using a bowl instead).
3.
Add a little splash of water if the mixture is too dry. Bring together into a ball and wrap in cling film. Chill for 20 minutes in the fridge.
4.
5.
Preheat the oven to 200c (fan) and grease a 22-25cm tart tin with a thin layer of butter. Take your pastry and roll out on a floured surface as thinly as possible. Line the tart tin, using a little ball of dough to push the pastry right into the grooves and corners. If the pastry tears, just use a little spare section and patch it up. Once lined, place some greaseproof paper in the tin and pour baking beans on top ready for blind baking (you could also use rice or dry pasta for this). Bake for 20
minutes then remove the baking beans and return the tin to the oven for another 5-8 minutes, until golden brown. Leave to cool.
Method for the filling: 1.
Finely chop the dark chocolate and butter and place in a jug. Put the cream and sugar in a pan and heat until it gently boils, stirring occasionally to ensure the sugar dissolves.
2.
Pour the hot cream mixture over the chocolate and slowly mix until smooth.
3.
Leave to cool and then pour the dark chocolate filling into the prepared pastry case, smoothing down if necessary.

With Jen Webster, Bowen Therapist
A
ccording to a recent report there are 8 million chronic pain suffers in Britain. Most problems involve the back. GP’s tend to refer patients to chiropractors, physiotherapists and in some cases suggest surgery, with no guarantee of success. Bowen Therapy is rapidly gaining acceptance, as the treatment of choice amongst sufferers of chronic pain. The Bowen Technique is a natural, drug –free non-invasive complementary therapy which was introduced to the UK, from Australia in the 1990’s. Bowen Therapy has a well documented record of success in the treatment of back pain. Bowen works with the body’s own healing systems. Rather than ‘making’ the body change, Bowen’s ‘asks’ the body to recognise and make the balancing changes it requires. With fingers and thumbs the Bowen practitioner makes precise rolling movements over muscles, tendons, ligaments and soft tissues at precise points on the body, using only the amount of pressure appropriate for that individual. No hard tissue manipulation or force is used. As well as back pain Bowen Therapy may also help with a host of other health issues such as frozen shoulders, sports injuries, whiplash, migraine, hay fever, asthma, IBS, fertility matters to name but a few. Bowen Therapy is not a substitute for medical advice and treatment.
Case Study: Sarah, aged 60, 18 month history of unresolved and debilitating lower back spasms and pain. Having been seen by her GP, an osteopath and chiropractor, Sarah was referred to the NHS pain clinic whereby she was issued with a TENS machine (for pain relief) and an appointment for facet joint (back) injections (booked for 10 weeks after her first Bowen session).
Sarah is fit, active and proactive regarding health in that she eats sensibly and enjoys cycling and exercising. In her spare time she enjoys gardening. Due to the increasingly debilitating level of pain, she was unable to do any of her leisure activities as even a short period would induce pain that would only resolve with complete rest. She was unable to stand comfortably for any length of time. After 3 weekly treatments, Sarah said she was generally out of pain, and had no incidence of spasms. 8 weeks later she reports; - Quicker to recover after lifting, standing, gardening, cycling. - A sustained improvement in range of mobility and a vast decrease in pain levels. - Neck and shoulders relaxed, and postural aware. - Coping with work stress and long hours. - Drinking more water (Jen’s constant ‘nag’!). - A light and happy feeling after each session.
There is no doubt that Bowen Therapy helped Sarah manage her active lifestyle. She considers the treatments to be safe and effective and will ensure she makes time for regular maintenance sessions.

Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy at Thame Therapy Clinic
Irene Ricketts, Physiotherapist BSc SRP & Naturopathic Nutritional Therapist (College of Naturopathic Medicine), explains how Naturopathic Nutritional Therapy can work in conjunction with conventional medicine to help conquer many health issues .
What is Naturopathy?
Irene Ricketts has 9 years of Naturopathic Nutritional Medicine clinical experience, having recovered from her own health care challenges of thyroid, other endocrine imbalances, digestive problems and heavy metal toxicity. She is therefore in an informed and unique position to understand and help you with your health issues.
Naturopathy is effectively an ‘Independent Alternative Healthcare Profession’ but does aim to work in an integrated way with the modern “allopathic” medical model when required. State registered Naturopath’s (ND) receive extensive training in anatomy, physiology and pathology: they have an excellent understanding of how the body works and what happens when things go wrong. They are also trained in one or two specialist areas as nutritional therapy or herbal medicine. Often a qualified Naturopath has to assess clients modern pharmaceutical drug plan and then work out protocols to combine with ‘natural medicines’ with the aim that the reliance on modern drugs can be reduced (by the GP or consultant) and sometimes
Thame
Naturopathic medicine works on all levels – Body, Mind and Spirit and uses various modalities to conquer health issues. Initially a deep level of individual assessment will be done in order to establish the root cause of the illness. Ongoing assessment is usually done on a monthly basis initially and treatment plans changed accordingly.
“Health is much greater than just absence of infirmity, it should be abundant Vitality!”
Diagnosis is made using a multiple of tools, such as nutritional assessment, iridology, ear reflex diagnostics, reflexology and lab testing. If you are in any doubt if nutritional therapy is suitable for your problem, contact the clinic on 01844 215555 or visit

Learn How to Build a Successful Business Online! Have you ever thought about starting your own online business, working from home and choosing the hours to suit you? If so, everything you need to start, create, and grow a successful business online is now available. Read on to find out how to get started with a 10-lesson course and 2 easy steps to set up websites, for free!
Affiliate Marketing has become
a very popular way of making money online. It is a totally legitimate and lucrative business model that can save you a lot of time and money because you do not need to create and sell your own products. Instead, you earn commissions for promoting other people’s goods and services. So what does it mean to have an online business? Well, nowadays every business ideally needs to have a web presence and many companies have either built or moved their entire business online. Just think about how often you now shop for goods and services online compared to say, five years ago.
for doing so. However, there are thousands of other companies and products outside of Amazon to affiliate with, they are free to join and there is bound to be one that will suit your personal interests. For instance, let’s say you are mad about golf, you would create a website about golf, provide valuable information to your visitors and recommend goods and in some cases, services relevant to that niche. When a visitor purchases a product from your website, you earn the commission. Many people are making additional income as a result and many more create a full-time income from it. It means that ANYONE who is seeking a way to change their life in a way that gives them more choice, opportunity and freedom is available to them. Does it sound like something you are interested in being part of? If so, read more at www.GrowYourResidualIncome.com
Perhaps the best example of an online store is Amazon who according to recent industry figures netted 88.99 billion in sales in 2014 with a rise of 14.54 billion from their previous year. They have thousands of affiliates who promote their goods and earn commissions Please mention Look Local Magazine when responding to adverts.

Travel Review
L
Thai and and of smiles
Having recently returned from the beautiful country of Thailand, Traveltime Consultant Liz Hislop gives us an insight of what you can expect from this exotic destination.
The capital Bangkok is a vibrant city and
a must see (if time permits) as a stopover before visiting the islands. The shopping and entertainment is hard to beat but there are also many beautiful sights to see such as the Grand Palace or a sunset cruise on the Chao Praya river. Head from here to the islands, Koh Samui, Krabi and Phuket being amongst the popular ones for the first time visitor. One thing for sure is that the people of Thailand, wherever you visit, are warm and friendly and always seem to be smiling. Koh Samui has lovely beaches and plenty to see and do such as boat trips to the marine park and Jungle bungy jumping for the more adventurous. Food is a delight and very varied all over Thailand, from traditional Thai to European and also extremely reasonably priced. Krabi is a quieter island yet still has plenty to do for those who want it. Maybe take a longtail boat to visit other islands such as Phi Phi (avoiding the busy excursion trips) or maybe some horse riding along the beach or diving and snorkelling in the warm green sea. Phuket is a busy island and the opposite time of the year for the monsoon season to the above, yet getting out and about and exploring will reward you with quiet local beaches and traditional beachside restaurants.
20
Getting around Thailand is easy, driving is on the left and car and scooter hire is well priced. For a night on the town Tuk Tuks are readily available. The vibrant town of Patong is a must for a night out, just like a mini Bangkok with its colourful nightlife with something for everyone with shopping in abundance. Church Road, Thame, OX9 3AJ 01844 217308 www.thamebarnscentre.co.uk The Disappearance Of Major Glenn Miller A Talk by Tony Eaton Back at the end of March some of the mysteries of the disappearance of the 40’s band leader Major Glenn Miller were unravelled to an enthralled audience at an event organized by the fundraising committee of Enrych Oxfordshire in Lewknor Village Hall near Watlington. Enrych are a charity working with adults with a physical disability enabling them to take up a leisure or learning activity often with the support of a one to one volunteer. Activities such as learning a new language, getting to grips with an IPad, support to cook or garden and many many more, all enable their members to maybe regain some independence lost as a result of their disability or as some members have said “made me feel part of society again”. Tony Eaton, a local historian, who is a member of the Glenn Miller Society, has spent many years delving into archives, along with his fellow enthusiasts, trying to find out what
really happened to Major Glenn, despite hitting many brick walls with files still being classified as top secret 70 years on. At times you could have heard a pin drop as Tony’s story unfolded with the help of photographs and documentary evidence which disproved the main theory that the Major was lost in an air accident. Enrych was delighted to announce at the end of the evening that just over £500 had been raised through the talk and the supper enjoyed by all after the many questions put to Tony by his mesmerized audience. For further information on anything at all to do with Enrych, whether to become a member, a volunteer or enjoy some of the many fundraising activities please contact Theresa; T: 07968 350587 W: www.enrych.org.uk

OPEN GARDENS On Saturday 6th – Sunday 7th June, Clico and Gerald Kingsbury welcome the public into the garden of their home at Dadford House in Cuddington to help raise funds for a local family whose son suffers from Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 2. The entrance fee is £4.00 (children are free) and visitors can enjoy homemade teas whilst strolling around the exquisite grounds that this stunning house has to offer. All proceeds from the event will be donated to The Finley Newell Mobility and Equipment Fund. The main garden of this 2 acre plot faces south where three terraced lawns lead down to a small lake, filled with Koi Carp. The terrace nearest the house is formally laid out, with Lavender edged beds filled with Hebe and Alliums with a box knot at its centre. A ha ha was added thirty years ago to open up the view across the 11 acre field to the side of the house. This view is framed by two borders: a new rose border on one side and a mixed border on the other. Both these borders are backed by clipped yew hedges. There are many mature trees throughout the garden including Dawn Redwoods, ancient Yew Trees and a large Holm Oak. A shrub border hides the tennis court. The walled kitchen garden behind the house is laid out to a strict pattern with box edged beds where vegetables and ornamental herbs are grown as well as flowering annuals and topiary shapes. The gravel courtyard, which leads to the house from the road, can be used for disabled visitors to park. Mr & Mrs Kingsbury politely ask that no dogs enter the gardens.
What is Spinal Muscular Atrophy (SMA) Type 2
SMA is a rare neuromuscular condition that leaves Finley unable to walk. The condition also affects his arms, hands, head and neck movement, making breathing and swallowing difficult. Finley will be two years old this month and he currently gets around in his Wizzybug, a first power chair, which has been supplied on free loan by the national charity ‘Designability’. By the time he is three, Finley will need a larger power chair costing in the region of £15,000. A larger family vehicle will be necessary to accommodate him in his wheelchair and his parents and big brother. Their small home in Haddenham is to be extended with specialised facilities being installed throughout. Partial grants will be available however fundraising events such as this are necessary to help raise more money to help Finley lead a better future. Any donations large or small are therefore greatly appreciated. Finley’s parents, Rosie and Joel are entirely grateful to Clico and Gerald Kingsbury for their kind generosity in opening their garden towards Finley’s fund. If you would like to know more about SMA, please visit www.smasupportuk.org.uk, a national charity supporting and empowering those affected by Spinal Muscular Atrophy. Saturday 13th June parade starts at noon followed by a fete at 1pm THAME CARNIVAL 2015 is calling all smart phone video enthusiasts to get filming around the town and enter the Thame One Minute Video competition. The theme for this year’s carnival is The Movies, so the carnival organisers want all those amateur movie makers of all ages, out there in the Thame area, to make a one-minute video, using just a smart phone, about any aspect of ‘Life In Thame’. Just make your film between now and May 30, 2015, and upload it to YouTube, to be judged by the Carnival Committee with the help of an expert filmmaking judge. Feel free to add music or sound effects to enhance your movie, though adding sound will not necessarily score you extra points - a silent movie can be just as original and effective as one with sound. So, get out there and video your family, your pets, your friends, your club or organisation, life on the allotment, the pub, the town-scape - anything that showcases an aspect of ‘Life in Thame’; upload it to YouTube and send the link to: editor@thame.net, for passing on to the Thame Carnival Committee. Plans for the Carnival, which will take place on
Saturday, June 13, 2015, are already well under way, with Jon Littler, from Thame’s First Thursday Music Club, taking on the responsibility for the live music and the stage, though the committee is in need of a compere on the day, someone to manage the parade, and of course a celebrity to perform the grand opening. If you would like to volunteer, Sue Martin-Downhill would like to hear from you via thamecarnival@gmail.com. The committee also wants local clubs, groups, pubs etc. to take on stalls and provide fun activities for the visitors and also to enter the Tug-of-War competition. The programme for events in the Arena is nearly full with contributions from The Pauline Quirk Academy, Thame Youth Theatre, Catkids and Stage Coach Thame. Stalls already booked include a beer tent by Round Table, Pimms Tent by Racquets Fitness Centre, ‘What’s in the bag’ by Friends of Oscar, music demos by Thame Music School, tombola, a variety of different food selections, sweets, inflatables, ice-cream and loads more! So, get out those smart phones and ‘Roll ‘em!’ as they say in the movies.
Movie Theme: Come dressed up as your favourite movie film character, classic or modern, or as a musical group... There’s plenty of entertainment, including a Beer tent, Pimms Tent, Bouncey Castle, novelty Dog Show and more... Please mention Look Local Magazine when responding to adverts.

Astonbury festival 7th - 8th august 2015 The Astonbury summer music festival is back for the 8th year running with organisers looking to put on an even bigger show than last year. The event will once again see the return of huge global artists sharing the stage with some of the best local talent that Oxfordshire and Bucks has to offer in a weekend of live music and entertainment. Due to the huge popularity of Astonbury the numbers attending have steadily risen which has prompted organisers this year to shift venue in order to increase the capacity and accommodate more numbers. Astonbury 2015 will this year be based in the idyllic surroundings of the Kingston Estate Park, close to Aston Rowant and will run from Friday evening on the 7th August to the Saturday night on the 8th. The main arena is just a stone’s throw from Kingston Blount point-to-point racecourse in the valley of the Chilterns and organisers could not have wished for a more picturesque venue to host this years event. Formed by volunteers from Aston Rowant Cricket Club in 2007 the event aims to raise funds to support the local sports charity which provides opportunities for youngsters to get involved in sport. Since it’s humble beginnings on a cricket field using a farm lorry as a stage Astonbury has grown into a several thousand capacity festival, which was headlined by Tinchy
Stryder and dance music legends The Ministry of Sound in 2014. Despite being able to land top global acts Astonbury has stayed true to its roots and continues to provide a fantastic opportunity for local talent to showcase their material to larger crowds on a professional platform. The continued improvement and big plans for 2015 suggests that the gimmicky named Astonbury brand is a local success story that is really maturing into a serious festival now. Weekend tickets are now ON SALE and available to purchase from the website, www.astonbury.net website. For latest news about the Festival visit Facebook & Twitter. /@astonbury1 /astonbury

Garden View
Chelsea Flower Show - 19th – 23rd May The Chelsea Flower Show is to gardening what the Paris catwalks are to fashion. Paris fashions may seem outlandish, but they push certain trends, which in a watered-down version end up in high-street shops. Likewise, though many of Chelsea’s show gardens are fantasy pieces which demonstrate outrageous ideas, the horticultural trends on display will find their way into our own more modest plots. For example; did you know that bonsai specimens and topiary gardens were introduced at Chelsea in 1913? Rock gardens were introduced in the 1940’s and decking in the eighties. All of these can now be bought in garden centres up and down the land. In 2006 James Dyson even produced a water feature in which the water ran uphill. Actually I’m still waiting for my garden centre to stock one of those! Maybe one day... Chelsea isn’t just about high fashion though; it reflects environmental trends too. In recent years there have been hosepipe bans in the great Pavillion and many of the gardens have
showcased drought-tolerant planting schemes. Chelsea draws over 150 000 visitors each year. For the past ten years it’s been held over five days instead of four, such is its popularity. The sheer quantity and varieties of plants on display to the general public is breathtaking. And if you visit on the last day you don’t have to restrict yourself to window shopping. At 4pm precisely a bell rings and the great Chelsea selloff begins. The poor designers, after all their hard work, begin the mammoth task of dismantling their creations. The good news is that the public can buy them. It’s perfectly possible to end up owning a little piece of a prize winning garden. So what should you choose? If it were me I’d go for a species which I know would grow in my garden, but an unusual variety, not available in my local garden centre. In my case it would probably be an unusual lavender or fuchsia. Choose carefully and you could have a little piece of Chelsea gold adorning your plot for many years to come. By Rachel Leverton

WARMING THE HEART
Versatility is at the heart of Bledlow based business North Mill Stoves. A respected local family business managed by Ian Pearce and his daughter Laura Morgan, the company have helped to bring warmth and style to over 30,000 homes in their 25 years of business. Laura talks to us about some of the more unusual and creative places in which they have installed their stunning stoves and fireplaces. Inside...
It’s not as uncommon as you might think for us to install a stove in other rooms of the house such as the kitchen, study or bedroom. How about considering the bathroom as a wonderfully indulgent solution perhaps in a weekend retreat or holiday cottage? Particularly with the cooler Spring and Autumn months, we can help to make those chillier corners of the home more usable. One of the areas that we have seen steady growth is in rooms where a stove is the least fuss heating option. This includes conservatories and garden rooms but also small independent buildings with more unusual uses such as information kiosks for the National Trust to keep volunteers warm and garden rooms and lodge offices where electricity can, longer term, be a more expensive heat source than a wood burner. One of our stoves keeps the office at Natural England Aston Rowant warm all year round. We have seen an increase in the renovation of older properties and the repurposing of existing building such as barn conversions. Even with excellent insulation and stunning original features, the taller ceilings can leave the space feeling a little cold. A free standing stove and a simple flue system immediately creates a focal point and a desire to pause and relax. The lovely feature with these types of rooms is people are often more relaxed and open to stoves that they wouldn’t consider in a more formal or traditional setting such as a lounge fireplace. It’s a great opportunity for us to showcase some of our more adventurous offerings such as multi- sided or revolving stoves or space saving styles that work well in open plan areas. We thrive on being asked to install a stove in a location which requires some careful thought and planning in order to achieve a system which meets Building Regulations. With Ian’s engineering background, he thrives on finding a solution where others might fail or fear to attempt.

conservatories and orangeries instead of more mainstream extension. These rooms are beautifully light and airy but can be challenging to heat - a stove makes a perfect independent solution. One customer decided to put a small stove in a lovely
turreted garden room which was often a little chilly but with beautiful views of the Chilterns. Since our installation, they have now moved into the room instead of the lounge. “We find it so convenient to heat and just so cosy on a chilly evening. It’s given us our own little hideaway when our teenage kids are home!
Outside
Even chillier spaces can be transformed with the installation of a stove. With camping and outdoor living becoming evermore popular, stoves have become a no-brainer for yurts and tents, patios and garden spaces. A number of our stove manufacturers offer solutions for outdoor living including free standing stoves, fire pits and barbecues. Why not talk to us about any number of chilly locations in your home?
