4 High Green W.I. will be meeting at 7.30pm on Thursday the 4th of January at the Church Hall, behind the Methodist Church, in Wortley Road. The event is “Musical Burns Night”. The competition is “Scottish Item”. All members and visitors are warmly welcomed.

Penistone footpath runner Tom Fryers enjoyed a festive parkrun double with first places at the Temple Newsam parkrun on Saturday followed up by first place at the Christmas Day parkrun at Barnsley. The first place at Temple Newsam was all the more remarkable given Tom cycled to the event from his home in Oxspring on a mountain bike, a distance of 27 miles.
THURSDAY 11 Chapeltown WI will hold its first meeting of the new year in Chapeltown Methodist Church at 7.30pm. Here they will discuss the resolutions proposed for the National AGM to be held in London. The competition is for a Scottish Item. New members and visitors are always welcome.
MONDAY 15 Wadsley and Loxley Commoners - The Bounds of Mediaeval Wadsley a talk by Nick Peck, a Wadsley and Loxley Commoners member. A “trip” exploring the boundaries of the old Manor of Wadsley using a document from 1752. How much of this can still be identified? Wadsley Church Hall, 7.30pm start.
