A CHARITY football match to help raise awareness of local male suicides has raised over £4037.45. The match was played in memory of Garin Collins, a friend of the event’s organiser, Lee Shepherd. Lee said “Personally it’s been an amazing experience and has opened my eyes to how many people are affected by suicide but
has also shown me how truly generous and compassionate we are in a world that can be doom and gloom, I’d like to thank everyone that contributed from the bottom of my heart, you have been amazing!!!!” The Collins Cup charity football match saw Ecclesfield Eagles take on Hibs (Garin’s team) Hibs ran out eventual 4-3 winners. DAMBUSTERS 75th ANNIVERSARY
This month marks 75 years since 133 airmen, led by Wing Commander Guy Gibson, took part in the Dambusters raid. Fifty-three of those brave men made the ultimate sacrifice. As the country remembers those who were killed that night, Sergeant Ian ‘Alfie’ Garnett, an Aircraft Technician, has shared his very own piece of Dambusters history, which he believes may be a one of a kind. When his Nanna passed
away in September 2017, Alfie was left one of her most treasured possessions. A black and white photograph, taken by his Great Nanna’s brother, Frederick Waller, who was stationed at RAF Scampton at the time, captures 12 airmen who returned safely from one of the RAF’s most daring raids. The young members of 617 Squadron line up smiling, after returning from the raid which saw 19 specially-adapted Lancasters take off on
16 May 1943, eight of which did not return. The photo is signed by squadron boss, Wing Commander Guy Gibson; ‘Guy Gibson W/C these are the pilots who came back.’ Alfie says: “One of my earliest memories is looking at the black and white photographs displayed on my Nanna’s sideboard in her house when I was about eight years old. I remember my Grandad showing me the photo of the 12 men in uniform and recounting their story.

“To be honest, I was a young lad and at the time it didn’t have much of an impact on me. “It was only when I was older, and my interest in the RAF grew, that I realised just how extraordinary their story was and every time I saw the picture thereafter I was in utter disbelief that it was sitting on my Nanna’s sideboard. “When it was handed down to me, as sad as the circumstances were, it meant the absolute

world. Every time I look at the image I remember my Grandad telling me the story of those courageous men. “As a serving Sergeant in the Royal Air Force myself, I can’t help but think back to the men and women who put their lives on the line to secure our freedom during the Second World War. “The bravery of the men in 617 Squadron is something you can’t put into words. They were prepared and so many
did, make the ultimate sacrifice for the defence of not only our nation, but other nations throughout the world. “Their courage and bravery must never be forgotten.” As the RAF celebrates its centenary this year, the RAF Benevolent Fund prepares to do the same. The Fund has stood side by side with the RAF since it was founded, just a year after the Royal Air Force itself and as a serving member of the

THree GeNeraTIONS FOr WINdOW cOMpaNY HISTORY From humble beginnings, leaving school at 15 to start work as a tractor driver and general farm worker with wages of £20 per week back then in 1975, l realised there must be more to life, so I went to work for the first double glazing company set up in the Sheffield area called Radiant Superglaze. After two years working there, learning all the skills, l decided to set up a business of my own, manufacturing double glazing in the old stables at The Coach and Horses pub in Stocksbridge. I soon moved into our existing premises on Manchester Road, Deepcar. The business quickly expanded through doing a good job, offering excellent customer service and value for money. The company soon grew to a £2 million pound turnover that enabled me to buy my own factory and I won the Yorkshire Television Young Business Man of the Year Award back in 1983. We are still going strong at our existing premises we bought in 1978. 40 years ago. We are a family run business, joined by my son ten years ago and hopefully his son will be joining us in a few years time.
3 Generations: This year will be the 40th Anniversary
WHY ARE WE SO SUCCESSFUL? l put that down to having old fashioned customer values, the customer is king at our firm, we stick to our old fashioned values, courtesy and customer service - we are customer friendly. Nothing is too much trouble for our customers. After all, it is the customer who pays our wages. When you contact us, you talk to a real person, not a computer, you don’t wait on the line trying to get through to a real person. We are a forward looking company offering top quality ‘A’ Rated energy saving windows as standard. We are also introducing new products to satisfy our growing number of thousands of customers. 95% of our work is within a ten mile radius of Deepcar but we have travelled further on recommendation - as far as London, Liverpool, Scotland and even as far as the Isle of Man. We have thousands of satisfied customers. With our company, you get the old fashioned customer service with the most modern, up to date products. In fact, the Eurocell system we use is, without doubt, the best on the market. Ring now for a free quotation or call at our showroom to see the full range of products on display. Church seeks new organist
24th May 2018

Christ Church Stocksbridge A United Reformed and Methodist Church Local Ecumenical Wanted : Church Organist at Christ Church Stocksbridge Following the untimely death of our organist this active merged United Reformed and Methodist Church is seeking a new organist to lead a lively choir and congregation in its Sunday morning worship. We have a beautiful new Phoenix three manual organ and a new Klavinova piano. The post would suit either a competent organist, or a pianist who is prepared to learn how to use the organ, which has automatic couplers to allow the foot pedals to be automatic.
The much-loved organist at Christ Church, Mark Rotchell, who was well known in local choirs, in which he took an active part, tragically passed away at the end of 2017, after serious surgery. It was a real shock to many in the community. The church is now trying to find someone who could take over this role in future. For the moment a number of volunteers are taking turns on Sundays to play the new Phoenix organ or the Klavinova piano, and they are doing a sterling job. But
the church would like to recruit someone to be the regular organist. The picture shows Mark at the new organ, surrounded by the choir, before his sad death. The role of organist is key to helping the choir and the congregation in worship, and at Christ Church there are other events including musical productions which would add to the mix of music. Mark was himself almost self-taught, with some guidance from an older man when he was young. And
the church feels that this could be another good opportunity for a younger person who can play the piano to gain experience playing a three manual organ. There could be some mentoring available from others, to help someone if needed. And the organ has a helpful button which links the pedals to the keyboard, so that playing the keyboard also brings in the bass tomes from the pedals without any feet! The minister, Rev Ian Lucraft, said “Mark’s contribution to the life
Attendance sought at morning services at 10.45 – 11.45 on Sundays and choir practices on Wednesday evenings at 7.30 – 9.00. Flexible working weeks can be agreed.
and music at Christ Church was wonderful and he will be a hard act to follow. But the church is keen to welcome either an experienced organist or someone who is younger and is seeking experience, and to develop their own skills. We are a very friendly church and it will be an appreciative choir and congregation that welcomes a new person in this role.”
An honorarium of £2500 per annum is proposed and there will be the opportunity for fees from some other occasional services.
To discuss the role please contact: Rev Ian Lucraft by email on ianlucraft@btinternet.com

Record breaking bitterns at RSPB Old Moor
Photograph of Bittern - credit Paul Paddock
The RSPB are delighted to announce that they are on course for a record breaking year for the rare and elusive bittern at their Old Moor reserve in the Dearne Valley. Once extinct in Britain, the elusive bittern has returned in recent years thanks to concerted conservation efforts but there are still just 150 breeding males in the whole of the United Kingdom. This year, two males have been holding territory at Old Moor and careful monitoring has revealed in the past week that there are three active nests in the reedbeds on the reserve. Given their scarcity, these nests have national significance to the population of this rare bird. The bittern, a member of the heron family, has a buffy-brown plumage designed to camouflage perfectly with its reedbed habitat. It is a difficult bird to see, given its secretive nature. It moves silently through the reeds at the water’s edge looking for fish. Its call, a remarkable far-carrying booming sound can be heard across the reserve during the spring time. The sound is similar to
the noise of someone blowing over the top of an empty glass bottle and is the loudest noise of any British bird. The bittern lives exclusively in reedbeds, this is a scarce habitat as traditionally it is transitional, meaning that over time it changes. The reeds dry out as plant litter builds up. The then reed dies back and scrubland takes over which in time evolves into woodland. When the team at RSPB Old Moor took over the management of the reserve in 2003, one of their aims was to develop the reedbed habitat in order to attract these rare birds. The reserve team planted reeds and created channels and pools to give the bird the perfect blend of open water and reeds to hide and feed amongst. Furthermore the RSPB worked with the Environment Agency and Don Rivers Trust to release fish and elvers (baby eels) into the reserve as part of a wider project to restore fish populations on the Dearne and Don river systems. Not only was this good for the fish populations but eels just happen to be a favourite food of the bittern!
Careful management over the past 15 years has paid off and nature has reclaimed this once industrial wasteland. Bitterns first nested in 2010 and have attempted to breed every year since. Matthew Capper, Site Manager at RSPB Old Moor said: “It is a truly remarkable story. 25 years ago this area was left as a post mining wasteland. To see how, with some help from our incredible team of staff and volunteers, nature has taken over and reclaimed this part of the Dearne Valley is a real success and story of hope for the local area. Who would have thought in 2003 when we took over management of this site we would be celebrating three bittern nests now.” This year is looking to be a fantastic year for RSPB Old Moor. With three active nests and plenty of food available, could this be a record breaking year for the reserve? Why not see if you can spot one of these rare birds flying over the reeds or hear one of their booming calls by taking a trip out to RSPB Old Moor.

new Ecclesfield Parish Chairman
Ecclesfield Parish appoint new Chair - with promises to “root politics in the community” Ecclesfield Parish councillors have appointed a new Chair. Parish Councillor Garry Weatherall, who is also a sitting city councillor for Labour, was appointed on 17th May 2018.
Councillor Weatherall becomes just the fourth Labour councillor to become the Chairperson of the Parish since the late 1970s. Over recent years Ecclesfield Parish was ran by the Liberal Democrats but in recent years Ecclesfield parish voters have increasingly put their support behind other parties.
Commenting on his appointment, C o u n c i l l o r Weatherall said:
“I am delighted to take up this role. I have lived in the area for the last 30 years and it remains a terrific privilege to serve the community. “Despite the worsening financial position brought about by recent governments – who since 2010 have been hell-bent on depriving local services of funds I honestly think the last four years have been terrific for the Parish. “It was down to the hard work of Labour councillors that we secured the hugely successful Thorncliffe Leisure Centre in the area and, together with

Parish councillors, I led the campaign to get defibrillators in every ward of the Parish – the success of which is something I am immensely proud of. “We at Ecclesfield Parish Council have also allocated £5,000 in our budget this year to fund work on our parish’s war memorials and Parish Council events. I want to bridge the generations so that young and old can come together to commemorate the sacrifices made in World War I, and subsequent conflicts, and celebrate what they did for us.” “There are a lot of strong characters on the Parish so I know that chairing these meetings will often be
an interesting challenge. But I am happy to rise to this and happy to accept this position. “Ultimately the Parish Council is here to bring politics closer to home. To make sure that decisions are rooted in our community. I am a big believer in this and a big believer in championing local projects. This is why I am encouraging all groups to fill in application forms for a grant from the Parish, and I will also help these groups in doing so. “I want to make sure Parish affairs are as open and transparent as possible and that all Parishioners can benefit from the work we undertake”.
Supporters of Burncross Action Team were delighted to receive the Ecclesfield Parish Council’s “ Chairman’s Award” 2017-2018
in recognition of the groups services to the community of Burncross.

Litter Cleanup
Thank you
Dear Look Local readers
Can I offer my heartfelt thanks to everyone that helped me in the recent election campaign, and the many good luck wishes from local residents across the West Ecclesfield Ward that I received. As a councillor, my main focus will be on helping local residents with their issues, as well as actively looking to improve the services Sheffield City Council provide in our area. We are awaiting the publication of the Green Belt Review which could have a major impact as part of the development of the Sheffield Plan for Housing, which must be published this year in order to meet government deadlines.
Like many, I am appalled by the amount of litter on Angram Bank pavilion. As such I want to do something about it and have organised a litter pick for this Monday. We will meet at 11.00 am (rain or shine!) and I hope that some of you will also consider joining us too.
Got something to say?
Issue 1010
It is a great experience and I will be sure to welcome anyone who wishes to join us – it certainly doesn’t matter if you’ve never done a group litter pick before. If you‘re thinking of attending do please drop me an email on adamhurst.ah@gmail.com or given me call on 07581 367150 so I can make sure I I will endeavour to serve our community to the best have enough litter pickers, bags etc. for everyone. of my ability over the next four years, and thank You certainly don’t need to let me know beforehand you all again for your vote. I can be contacted either and if you would rather turn-up on the day you’d be through the Sheffield City Council website http:// democracy.sheffield.gov.uk/mgFindMember.aspx more than welcome! or our Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/ Many thanks Adam MikeLevery.NorthSheffield/

Gambling Addiction Last Thursday 17th May, the Department for Digital Culture, Media and Sport reduced the maximum stake on fix-odds betting terminals from £100 every 20 seconds to £2. This is a positive step which I have personally been campaigning for this last two years, but it still doesn’t address the issue of online betting. For some, gambling addiction will move from the real world to the virtual world, online. Fixed-odds betting terminals and to a lesser extent The National Lottery and the like, are a tax on the poor. It beggars belief that these machines, up until now have had so little regulation from Central Government, the same applies to the loan shark industry which is allowed to roam this country taking money with menace like a modern day Dick Turpin. It is no surprise that Ladbrokes Coral Group plc top the list of donors giving MP’s gifts and hospitality. The bookies appeared 15 times in the Register of Members interest over the last 18 months, more than any other donor. There is no situation so dire that a politician can’t make worse. Regulations in this country can be quite severe when it comes to, parking, fishing and dog ownership, just to name a few. But multinational companies and wealthy individuals can rob people with impunity, sometimes causing them to take their own lives, as they see it as the only way out of the nightmare they find themselves in. The welfare of the people should be the supreme law. The vulnerable in our society need more protection on these important matters. Councillor John Booker Ecclesfield West deputy leader of UKIP, Sheffield.

Grenoside Holiday Club offers children fun and activities this Half Term APPLETREE CHILDCARE It’s Half Term again and Appletree Childcare in Grenoside is offering a fun filled programme of activities for children aged between 4 and 15. The well-established Holiday Club runs in all school holidays (excluding Christmas) and is designed to give children the chance to interact and play with one another in a safe and secure setting. The club welcomes children
from all schools and areas and offers a fun and stimulating environment giving parents and carers a reliable but flexible childcare option throughout the holidays. Gayle Crossley, who runs the Holiday Club, said: “It can be difficult to juggle work and childcare throughout the school holidays, which is why we have worked hard to establish a Holiday Club that children want to come to and
where parents and carers feel safe sending their children”. “Every holiday our Holiday Club is jammed packed with fun and games and this Half Term is no exception. There is lots of do and our team of highly skilled childcare professionals are on hand to make sure your child has fun this school holidays.” Appletree Holiday Club runs from Grenoside Community Centre on Main Street in

Sheffield Forgemasters is a global supplier of components for civil nuclear power and specialises in the casting and forging of ultra-large components required in the heart of a nuclear power plant.
Sheffield Forgemasters International Ltd (SFIL) was contracted by plant operator, AXPO, to investigate the origin of ultrasonic indications which were detected in the Reactor Pressure Vessel (RPV) of Unit 1 of the Beznau nuclear power plant (KKB) in Switzerland, which was taken offline for two years until confirmed to be safe by the Swiss Federal Nuclear Safety Inspectorate (ENSI).
The company is now a world leader in the delivery of technology enabling it to tap into markets including Small Modular Reactor and pressure vessel development and has recently partnered with a Canadian company on the design of one of the world’s first fusion nuclear reactors.

Hawks soar high
Footpath runners:
Sheffield Hawks 34-0 Upton ARLFC
Local Sport
Cycle pass “Pride of place this week goes to Wheeler Bob Waterhouse who, after a winter of arduous training, on Sunday rode in the Fred Whitton Challenge, a cycle sportive held each year in the Lake District to commemorate a popular member of a local cycling club who died of cancer. Over the years the event has raised more than £1.1 million for the Macmillan cancer charity. The ride goes over six mountain passes, including the infamous Hardknott and Wrynose passes, gaining 12,870 feet of ascent and covering 113 miles. Waterhouse completed the ride in 8 hours 24 minutes at an average speed of 13.5 mph. The road racing season is now well under way and on Sunday Wheeler Dave Scargill rode in the 33km LVRC (League of Veteran Racing Cyclists) Enville Road Race at Bobbington Staffordshire and finished 10th overall in his age category race. Last Thursday Wheeler Joe Woodhouse in his first race for some time rode the NMRRL (North Midlands Road Race League) 52km race at Torworth, Nottinghamshire and was pleased to finish strongly in the bunch.
Upton ARLFC were utterly outplayed by a rampant Hawks side as they repeatedly cut through the Pontefract teams defence to score six unanswered tries. Upton have just moved into this league after a mid-season re-organisation and probably wish they could have stayed where they were. This was a much more complete Hawks performance with players taking full advantage of any gaps offered. Hawks ever reliable Corey Hall scored first after breaking through tackles following a great attacking set by the team. Spencer Poppleton was quick to the play the ball throughout and the speed and awareness from the ruck continually put Upton under pressure. The tone of the match was set from the first tackle when the supposedly bigger Upton players were ruthlessly dispatched by Will Burns, Corey Hall, Joe Littlewood, Tom Clarke and the entire team. Harry Edgar and Reuben Kateregga demolished any attempt to break free and their skill in
playing out of contact set up Joe Littlewood for a superb try, leaving numerous players (and a very quick full back) in his wake to score under the posts. From the next two kick-offs, drives by the Hawks took Upton out of shape and the speed of the service from dummy half created holes for Hall to exploit twice more. The half ended at 24-0 to the Hawks. The second half continued in similar style. Max Blackburn and Callan Drewery hit hard in the middle and the increasing penalty count in Hawks favour showed how frustrated the Upton team were becoming. Tom Clarke tackled and drove hard throughout, causing major problems as the big Ponty team showed a tired resignation towards their inevitable defeat. Ed Measures was unstoppable, frequently making yards when he had no right to. A piece of individual skill from Bailey Thompson brought a superb fifth try on the fifth tackle as he grubbed through and scored wide out left. Reuben Kater-
regga danced his way through the Upton defence to score another try with a spectacular finish under the posts. In defence Bailey Thompson made a try saving tackle out wide and the team simply did not let Upton have any time or freedom to play. Littlewood stepped up when Poppleton went off in the second half and the play remained as efficient and effective no matter what changes were made. The match ended with a serious injury to an Upton player and both teams felt that it was appropriate to stop the match then. We wish Callum Halford, a loose forward for Upton, a speedy recovery from his nasty knock. Hawks were imperious throughout and simple control of the ball, wise reading of the game and making the critically correct choice at the critical moments shows that Hawks are becoming a difficult team to play, home or away.
Marathon Success
Last Sunday’s 100 mile reliability ride out to Howden and back saw Tony Lodge, Steve Myatt, Paul Mynett, Chris Jenkins, Dave Hudson and Rob Parkes all complete the ride well within the 8 hours time limit. Sunday’s club run sets off from Brewers Fayre roundabout Wombwell at 9:15 and heads out on a 60 mile loop to Retford. Visitors are welcome.
John Howsham recorded a time of 3:26 for the full marathon, with Dean Allcroft clocking 3:39. In the half marathon race, Julia Johnson took a large chunk off the existing F55 club record to run 1:35.47, which also saw her finish first in her age category in the race, with Jacqueline Armitage running 1:53. Julia Cobham clocked 1:45.17 whilst Ian Sutcliffe made his debut over the distance, finishing in 1:50.41. Myfanwy Cross ran 2:10.33 Stephanie Jones 2:11. Amy Schofield 2:21 and Peter Cross 2:32.24. Nick Whittingham 1.47.06 and Teresa Wall 2.30.16. Bill Phillips was 2nd V70 in 1:44.15. Also completing the course were Martin Hughes, Ian St. Clair, Keith Gordon, Sue Charlesworth, Jane Cockerton, Debra Cable, Sue Higham and Annie Lightowler and Julie St. Clair. Five runners took part in the Lads Leap fell race, which this year was the Inter-Counties Championship. An out and back route, run in the heat. For the women, Julie Darigala was the first back in 76:14. Helen Wright ran 82:23, Sarah Walch 85:59. Two men ran. Chris Hodgson clocked 70:33 and Dan Limb 71:02. At the Liverpool Half Marathon, Rianna Armitage and Karen Schofield ran 2:29. Five club members took part in the Askern 10k road race, one of the best races in the county, last week. First back was Gareth Cooke in a time of 34:37. New member Kieron Reed broke the 36 minute barrier for the first time to run 35:54. V40 Rob Lees ran 37:26, Simon Pike 38:57 and Julie Moxon a good 45:46 to finish 3rd F45. Three club members completed the 3 in 3 fell race weekend at Hayfield. Ian Charlesworth finished V55 at the Lantern Pike Dash and Mount Famine races and was 9th overall the series. Damian Kilpin and Brent Lindsay also completed the trio of races. There was a strong showing from the juniors, with Hugh Mackie, Tom Fryers, Ewan Mackie and James Fryers all winning prizes in their age categories.
Wheelers Trevor Mayne and Paul Heggie on Saturday rode in the South Pennine CC 25 Mile Open Time Trial at Etwall, Derbyshire. Both achieved new club age records -Mayne at 54 years old finished in 53m 42s and Heggie at 64 years old beat his own record set earlier this year by 1m 50s finishing in 1m 00m 03s. The 4th of the club’s 5 mile time trials at Thurgoland on Tuesday took place in the best weather of the season so far. Trevor Mayne was again fastest in 12m 21s. Winner on handicap was Tom Booth in a time of 14m 08s handicapped to 11m 38s. Mayne now leads the points series by just 2 points. The next round is on Tuesday at 7pm on Park Springs and is the club’s 5 mile Championship. Guest riders are welcome.
A party of club members made the trip to Riga to take part in the Latvian city’s full and half marathons.
Zak Ferguson the 11 year old Penistone grammar pupil came 25/188 out of the the top UK runner’s in u13 London mini marathon. The hot conditions took its toll on all the runners, but Zak took a fast pace and came in home with a time of 17.21 over the 3 mile course. Hopefully he will back next year in this age group.
At the White Peak Half Marathon trail race, first back in 8th position was Marvellous Martin Ball in 83:53, followed by Gary Briscoe, making a welcome return to club colours, in 93:07. First woman back was Jill Carlton in 112:30. Dawn Godley completed her first ever half marathon in 130:03.

Steels announce friendly games
24th May 2018

Stocksbridge Park Steels have announced two pre-season fixtures against football league opposition.
Steels will be looking for a new strikeforce for the upcoming season after both Joe Lumsden and Brodie Litchfield joined new clubs this week. Star striker Lumsden has been tempted to join Tadcaster Albion whilst former junior Litchfield has joined FC United. Both players will be hard to replace as they both brought pace, skill and goals to the team.
Sheffield United will bring a first XI on Saturday 7th July, with Rotherham United visiting Look Local Stadium on 17th July.
It is believed that 1st team manager Chris Hilton will commit his future to the club after 3 years in the job. Whilst an announcement in the running of the club is due soon, at a club founded by Allen Bethel back in 1982.

CRICKET:
Juniors show great determination It was a fantastic weekend in which Stocksbridge CC fielded two under 9’s teams for the first time with a total of nearly 20 kids involved. Many kids were playing their first game.
It was a sunny afternoon at Bracken Moor where Stocksbridge Blue hosted a number of teams with plenty of families turning out in force to enjoy the game and also the much needed refreshments on offer. Although the results didn’t go the home sides way there were some real positives on the day. The Red team travelled to Hallam and again there were some great success stories to report. It was great to see players taking their first wickets and also many players also hit a number of boundaries including a couple of sixes! For any child wishing to get involved in a great fun, relaxed team environment we train up at Bracken Moor on Fridays 1800 until 1930. All new players are welcome. Another way to get involved and introduced to cricket is to join up with our All Stars Programme. Please go to www.allstarscricket.co.uk
SPEEDWAY:
Tigers poor display TEAM boss Simon Stead offered an apology to Sheffield supporters after a disappointing 53-37 defeat at Berwick. The Window Centre Tigers got off to a sluggish start and were unable to recover as they left empty handed following a frustrating evening. They were simply not sharp enough from the gate and were second best throughout. The result leaves them still on the lookout for their first Championship win of the campaign - and Stead admitted they must do better. “On behalf of the club and the riders I just want to apologise to the supporters, because we’re just not good enough at the moment,” said Stead. “Especially the fans who are travelling to watch us away from home, the performances have been poor and tonight was another disappointing one. “For whatever reason, things just aren’t going our way at the moment and we’ve got to keep striving to do everything we can to improve. “It’s still early days in the season, and we’ll continue to look at whether changes need to be made “In the meantime, we’ll focus on our home meeting on Thursday and looking to give our fans the sort of performance and result they deserve.” Todd Kurtz, Lasse Bjerre and Kyle Howarth recorded the Tigers’ three race wins, and Charles Wright also put in a battling display for paid double figures. James Shanes, Jan Graversen and guest Joe Lawlor all struggled to make an impact as the visitors ran 10 last places. They will go in search of their first win of their title defence as they host Workington at Owlerton on Thursday (7.30). BERWICK 53: David Howe 15, Jye Etheridge 14+1, Kevin Doolan 9+1, Aaron Summers 8, Dany Gappmaier 5+1, Nathan Greaves 2+1, Nikolaj B Jakobsen r/r. SHEFFIELD 37: Kyle Howarth 9+2, Charles Wright 9+1, Todd Kurtz 8+1, Lasse Bjerre 7, James Shanes 3+1, Jan Graversen 1, Joe Lawlor 1.

Late goal flurry seals title CHAPLETOWN RBL 2 -3 OUGHTIBRIDGE WMFC (Cardwell, Morehouse )
(Booth, Brown 2)
In the Division one title decider a large crowd witnessed the most dramatic finale with Oughtibridge WM taking the title in a late explosion of injury time goals at title rivals Chapeltown RBL. Only victory would give Oughtibridge the title and after an even opening first 10 mins it was the hosts who went close when Brad Beatson crashed a shot against the cross bar, but the visitors started to grow in to the game and started to create openings, first Call Chambers went close and they then a great exchange of passes led to a Danny Booth goal when he turned his man and shot to the near post gave the keeper no chance. Chambers again went close and then Tom Fletcher looked certain to score but he fired at the keeper from close range. The second half again had the visitors missing chances and when Call Chambers again went through he fired wide. Going into the final minute heartbreak for the visitors when Ash Burbeary was brought down in the area and Danny Cardwell equalised from the spot. Three minutes into added time, however Ross Brown headed ‘Bridge back in front to the ecstasy of the away supporters whose pitch celebrations were cut very short as Chapeltown went straight down the pitch and Joe Moorhouse curled the ball home from 25 yards to level a second time and to spark another pitch invasion this time from the home fans. At this point it looked like the title was heading to Norton Sportsman, but just as the on looking Norton players and supporters were celebrating, this time it was Oughtibridge’s turn to go straight down the pitch and with just seconds remaining Brown scored his second header when Ollie Black whipped in a perfect free kick for Brown to give the title to Oughtibridge, leaving Sportsman in second and Chapeltown in third. All three are promoted to the CBC Premier next season.
WINNERS: Late goals saw Oughtibridge snatch a dramatic Blades Superdraw Division one title
