Life saving heros commended
THREE members of the public were officially commended for helping to save the life of 14-year-old footballer Daniel Lowe on an emotional evening at the home of Stocksbridge Park Steels.
Daniel’s football coach Nik Dodsworth and two mothers of players from opposing team Maltby Main, Jayne Waite and Claire O’Connor, acted swiftly and calmly to administer an on-site defibrillator to help save the football-mad teenager, before paramedics arrived on the scene.
Peter Wike from Yorkshire Ambulance service presented the three heroes with their certificates of commendation in front of players and families from both clubs at Look Local Stadium in Stocksbridge.
Daniel suffered cardiac arrest during an under-15 game on Sunday November 25 at Oughtibridge playing fields on Forge Lane.
Coach Nik, an off-duty police officer, told Look Local:
Daniel is now looking forward to playing for the team again after recovering fully and having a permanent defibrillator fitted to his heart.
