FITNESS FANTATICS COMPLETE 24 HOUR CHALLENGE FOR CHARITY FIT4IT Hybrid Gym in Tankersley committed to an exhausting challenge on Friday, with 15 members and supporters taking part in a 24-hour fit-a-thon. Proceeds went to two charities – Bluebell Wood Children’s Hospice and St Luke’s Hospice. Well over £5,000 was raised, although money is still being counted. FIT4IT owner Katie Ford explains: “This was a very unique challenge organised using the ideas of Nikki Outram, Amanda Curwood, Paula Bertra-Lax and myself. “We had kind instructors from all over South Yorkshire coming together to teach a timetable of 20+ classes back-to-back, from circuits, spin, Zumba and Morris dancing to cheerleading. “People popped in and donated £5 for each class they did but 15 of us did non-stop exercising for 24 hours to raise as much money as we for two charities that are close to our hearts. “We did this challenge in memory of Carter Lax and my amazing friend Deborah Holmes, who
was an inspiration to many and a philanthropist herself. “I just want to give a massive shout out to everyone that made this happen. From a crazy idea to an event that blew our socks off! “We worked so hard but it was an amazing experience. People’s kindness and support has blown me away! Their energy and support kept us going. I couldn’t have asked to do it with a better bunch of people - to everyone that donated and supported, thank you so much. Also to the instructors that gave their time - it couldn’t have happened with out you. “Nikki did a great job organising everything, going over and beyond to make it happen.” You can still donate to the two Just Giving pages.
