Community Cup winners at Hillsborough

DEEPCAR St Johns School were crowned Community Cup champions at Hillsborough during the club’s WAWAW Fun Day last weekend.

The Sheffield primary school defeated Lound Junior School 1-0 in the final that took place on the Hillsborough pitch.

Owls coach Lee Bullen took charge of Declan St Johns while Wednesday defender Liam Palmer made his managerial debut at the helm of Lound.

The man of the match accolade was awarded to Aiden Staniland from Deepcar.

The competition is in association with Pass on Plastic, the campaign designed to educate people on single-use plastics and their harm to the environment.

The Community Cup was one of many activities taking place during the WAWAW Fun Day that saw thousands of supporters descend on Hillsborough.

Junior football teams can still apply to sign up for this year’s Community Cup which takes place on May 11 and 12.
