Paces invests in new base to support more adults living with motor disorders and brain injuries
PACES, the High Green specialist centre, charity and school for individuals with Cerebral Palsy and motor disorders, is to expand its services for adults with the opening of a new facility. Located at the Smithywood Business Park – just two miles from Paces current headquarters and directly off the M1 at junction 35 - the 8,000 square foot base will allow Paces Living Adult Services to grow and support three-times as many adults in the future. It will mean more places for more individuals, who will be able to easily access the facility from across South Yorkshire and beyond, as well as providing an improved space to
offer conductive education sessions that improve the mobility of those who have acquired brain injuries – such as through a stroke, Multiple Sclerosis or Parkinson’s.

In time, Paces will also develop a service for young adults aged between 18 to 25 to ensure the organisation is able to offer the best possible care for those who need it, no matter what their age.
“We know there is too little provision for adults with motor disorders and brain injuries across Yorkshire – whether that’s recovering from a Stroke, living with Cerebral Palsy or facing a diagnosis of Parkinson’s.

Christian Centre Christmas events STOCKSBRIDGE Christian Centre is to host a number of events over Christmas. On December 13, the centre on Cedar Road will be host to an on-site service led by community worker Phil Hall at 10.30am. On December 20, at 10.30am, there will be an on-site adult Nativity led by the worship team. Both of these will also be available via Zoom. Contact James H. Grayson at j.h.grayson@sheffield.ac.uk for the links. On Christmas Day, the centre will host live carols in the car park and a brief communion from 10am. On December 27, there will be an on-site quiet time of reflection on the past year and looking to the New Year at 10am and January 3 sees the covenant service - a time of re-commitment for the New Year, also on-site. The Smithywood site will also be the new home for the charity’s staff while Paces School remains on the existing base at High Green. A refit will begin in the New Year with the hope of moving in during April 2021.

Paces has been campaigning for a new home for some time to allow for the expansion of its services and the numbers it can support. Moving adult services to Smithywood will mean plans can be taken forward for a new home for Paces School and further updates on that are expected in the New Year.
