Rescue team at hand to help save 6 year old

On Sunday morning, three team members of the Woodhead Mountain Rescue Team were able to assist a Mother and her 6-year-old child who had got into difficulties whilst on route to A&E.

Woodhead MRT said “Being made aware of the events unfolding outside by a neighbour, the first team member on scene was able to assess the situation. It was soon apparent that the young child was having severe breathing difficulties whilst mum was doing her all to get help.

With the teams vehicle based no more than 5 minutes away, and the team’s doctor also local to the area, a few calls were made and both were on scene at the drop of a hat. The young child was further treated by paramedics once the ambulance arrived.

“Thank you so much to the Woodhead Mountain Rescue Team and everyone else who came to our aid this morning. We are down at Sheffield Children’s Hospital and my little boy has had some steroids & adrenaline to help his breathing. They are going to keeping him overnight to keep an eye on him xxx thank you again - I was in such a panic and I was so grateful for all the help, and massive thank you to the lady I flagged down in the road who called the emergency services for me and helped me in those initial minutes”
