Ecclesfield Priory celebrates 90 years

Ecclesfield Priory Players Amateur Dramatic Society was formed 90 years ago in September 1932

May they be the oldest drama group in Sheffield?

The EPPiC Theatre which local thespians converted from The Trinity Methodist Chapel, will be hosting their next production The Secret Tent by Elizabeth Addyman.

Elizabeth was married to Arthur Brough and together they formed a Rep Company which performed at the Leas Pavilion.

It launched the careers of many actors seen on TV including June Brown of Coronation Street fame.

The play was made into a film with the same title three years after it was first produced in 1953, Coronation Year.

EPP first produced the play on 1958.

Sylvia told Look Local "What made our dress rehearsal yesterday so special was that one of our members from the 1958 production came from Leeds to see it.

Roy Norcliffe was a theatre critic for The Sheffield Star in the 1960s.

Roy is far left in the attached photo.

Roy thinks there are only 3 people left from the original cast of 7".
