Plus, what a great excuse to talk about myself without having to pretend to be interested in someone else’s boring problems in return! To start with, I was gutted there wasn’t a black leather couch to lie on like in the movies, but as I started pouring out my heart – OK, I was just bitching about a colleague who was driving me mental – the stress seeped away. The best part? The shrink told me I was completely sane and that it sounded like my co-worker’s prefrontal cortex (part of the brain responsible for personality and social behaviour) had stopped developing at an early age. Who knew psychoanalysis could be so vindicating?! Ever since, I’ve been recommending therapy to anyone with the slightest issue. By her own admission, Ashy says a little bit of planning goes a long way. “Training is always a priority for me, so it’s all about scheduling it all in!” she says. “My husband, Steve, also likes to stay active, so we make sure we both have the time, space and freedom to be able to train, as we know how much of a snowball
effect it has on our positivity, energy and happiness.” All you need is a chair and some floor space to try this workout from Ashy. Too easy!

Serves: 1 Prep + cook: 5 mins Ingredients • 2 eggs • 3 tbsp oats • 1 tbsp Happy Way Vanilla Whey Protein Powder • ½ banana • 1 tsp coconut oil • 2 tbsp coconut yoghurt • 1 tbsp maple syrup • ½ punnet fresh raspberries
LATERAL LEG LIFTS 1 minute on / 20 seconds rest x 3 reps 1. Lying on your side, bottom leg slightly bent for balance. 2. Raise the leg up and down.
Mini quiches Serves: 1 Prep + cook: 25 mins
CLAMS 45 seconds each leg x 3 reps each leg with no resting in between 1. Lie on your side with knees bent. 2. Lift the top knee away from the bottom knee while keeping your heels together.
Ingredients • 6 eggs • 1 tbsp coconut milk • 1 cup zucchini, grated • 1 cup carrot, grated • 1½ tbsp nutritional yeast • Black pepper, to taste • Sea salt, to taste Method 1. Preheat oven to 160°C (fan-forced). 2. In a large bowl, whisk eggs and milk until eggs are broken up. Stir in the rest of the ingredients. 3. Grease a metal cupcake pan with coconut oil, pour mixture into each cup, filling it three-quarters of the way. 4. Bake for 17 mins or until knife inserted comes out clean.
Method 1. Place eggs, oats, protein powder and banana into a blender and blend until a smooth consistency is reached. 2. Heat pan over medium heat. Pour coconut oil on pan. 3. Spoon ½ cup of mixture onto pan, cook pancake 1 min either side or until brown. 4. Top with coconut yoghurt, maple syrup and raspberries.

Chia & buckwheat pots Serves: 4 Prep + cook: 90 mins (+ cooling, standing and refrigeration) You will need to start this recipe a day ahead. Ingredients • ¾ cup buckwheat • ¼ cup raw cashews • ¼ cup sunflower seeds • ¼ cup pepitas • ⅓ cup apple juice • ¼ cup dried goji berries • 400ml can coconut cream • 1 tsp vanilla extract • 1 tbsp honey • ¼ cup white chia seeds • 250g strawberries, sliced • 60g blueberries Method 1. Combine buckwheat, cashews and seeds in a medium bowl, add enough cold water to cover. Stand overnight. Drain well. Add apple juice. Stand for 1 hour. 2. Preheat oven to 180°C. Line an oven tray with baking paper. 3. Spread buckwheat mixture on tray. Bake, stirring occasionally, for 25 mins or until golden and dry. Transfer to a heatproof bowl, stir in goji berries. Cool completely. 4. Meanwhile, combine coconut cream, vanilla extract, honey and chia seeds in a medium bowl. Cover, refrigerate for 1 hour or until it forms a soft gel. 5. Spoon granola mixture into base of serving glasses. Top with chia mixture, then strawberries and blueberries. TIP The buckwheat granola mixture is delish eaten as a standalone meal and also yummy served on top of yoghurt. Store leftovers in an airtight container.

Raspberry sago with coconut yoghurt Serves 4 Prep + cook: 30 mins (+ standing and cooling) Ingredients • 1 litre water • 1 cup pearl sago or seed tapioca • 200g frozen raspberries, thawed, crushed coarsely • 200g coconut yoghurt • 2 tbsp chopped pistachio s • 100g raspberries, extra Method 1. Bring the water to the boil in a medium saucepan. Add sago, cook, stirring occasionally, for 10 mins or until sago is soft and translucent. 2. Transfer sago to a heatproof bowl, stir in raspberries. Cool completely. 3. Spoon sago into four serving glasses or jars, top with coconut yoghurt, pistachios and extra raspberries. TIP This recipe has no sugar added, as often coconut yoghurt is sweetened. Taste it and see how much sweetness the raspberries add – sometimes these can be a little sour. Use pure maple syrup to sweeten, if needed.

It wouldn’t be a trip to Fiji without being reminded of the locals’ deep connection to their land. I feel it on various occasions, as the resort makes quite the effort to shine a light on the country’s unique traditions. An evening lovo, which is food cooked using hot stones under the ground like New Zealand’s traditional hangi, is best experienced in the hours prior to eating, when raw ingredients are lowered into the earth. I’m amazed at how meticulous each of the three men preparing the feast is. It feels like anything but a touristy stunt as the staffers slip me a polite smile before refocusing on critiquing one another and shovelling just the right amount of soil over
the top of the haul to get it right. Sweet potato, coconuts filled with spinach and coconut milk, pumpkin, and an assortment of fish and meats glisten when uncovered two hours later. After dinner service begins, the goodies are presented with pride as the staff sing and dance, and a few take a seat on the ground to blend kava. I feel as though I’ve been invited into this family’s home – a privilege that stays with me long after I leave.
LIVING OFF THE LAND Then there are the various wellness screenings which span detoxification of the mind, yogic cleansing and weight loss – plus the generous attention to your sleeping! Think handmade mattresses stitched from optimised airflow material (it’s called coir fibre and derives from the husk of a coconut), temperatureregulating pillows, anti-bug doonas and energy-boosting sleep programs. My favourite detail, though? The evening’s turn-down service sees a jug of water and glass placed on your bedside table. I’ve never experienced such considered hotel hospitality in my life.

GET READY FOR THE LOLS! After 10 seasons, it’s pretty clear Australians luuurve Gogglebox. Yep, the hit series has become just as much an Aussie TV staple as the shows that its castmembers critique each week – giving us their hilarious feedback with all the LOLs and life lessons included. Now, as we head into season 11, the show is bringing us three new households! We have the Elias family (a suburban Sydney clan of five), Kaday and Chantel (two modern-day Aussie gals), and loveable larrikin surfies Milo and Nic. Here, NW catches up with the Gold Coast best mates to
find out what they’ve got in store for us… Hi, Milo and Nic! So were you both fans of Gogglebox before applying? Nic: No, we’d never seen it. Just randomly, a recruiter came into the surf shop Milo works at looking for new families. Milo wasn’t keen, but when he came home and told me the story, I said what probably everyone has said: “Dude, we can do that! All you do is sit on the couch and talk s**t – we’re doing it right now.” So we applied. Do you think you’ll have conflicting views or do you usually see eye-to-eye?
Milo: Here and there. N: I love to play devil’s advocate and stir Milo up a bit – but just for fun. What shows do you guys normally watch? N: We both love our live sports, but on a work night, we’re watching Aussie Pickers, Pawn Stars, Love Island, The Amazing Race and Married At First Sight. Anything you aren’t looking forward to sitting through? M: I hate Pooch Perfect. N: I like it. We both aren’t too big a fan of The Block. What can the audience expect from you guys? You know her as Peggy Olson from Mad Men and the headstrong Offred in The Handmaid’s Tale, but now Elisabeth Moss is taking over the big screen. Yep, the talented actress has landed her first leading film role and boy, does The Invisible Man put her through the ringer! In the intense sci-fi thriller – a retelling of the classic HG Wells novel and 1933 film adaptation – Lizzie plays Cecilia, a woman who escapes an abusive relationship, after which her ex takes his own life. It’s then that she starts to notice strange things happening and becomes convinced that he isn’t really gone. Spooky! Here, Elisabeth shares her feelings on playing strong female characters and why she couldn’t say no to the part. Hi, Elisabeth. How did this film come your way? My agents called and told me I was offered my first lead role in a studio film, and I was blown away. But I was also mystified because when you hear “The Invisible Man”, you think of the classic telling of that story – with a man in bandages, a hat and glasses. I couldn’t imagine how I’d fit into that. But then they sent the script over and 72 NWonline.com.au

it immediately made sense. It puts a female spin on the story. Is that what attracted you? It’s a really feminist story of female empowerment – a victim kind of overcoming something. It’s that universal feeling of not being seen, of not having a voice, the fear of being invisible. Your roles often speak to people. How do you think
this film’s themes hit home? Most people have had some experience with gaslighting or feeling like you’re being taken advantage of. You have played some very dark characters in your long career. How do you separate yourself from these roles when you go home at the end of the day? I find that I’m very, very good at, like,
I guess some people would call it compartmentalising. I’m really good at turning it off, going home, texting my friends, having a glass of wine and putting it aside. It’s not unconscious. I need to be able to do that to treat my work with joy and enthusiasm. In cinemas Thursday 27 February
