Grace Hall's tutu re:
Plans respond to student requests by MaureenLarkin
For the past three semesters the fate of Grace Hall has been a discussion topic of meetings of the Council of College Affairs and the Master Planning Committee.
On February 27, the President of the college accepted the recommendations made by the Master Planning Committee, along with the aid of a professional architect planner, to end Grace Hal 1's career as a women's dormitory. By closing Grace Hall as a dorm, school officials will now be able to begin the long process of redistributing the extra space which will be used for academic and activity purposes . Faculty offices in the future will be grouped together to create the idea of uniformity. The most important aspect is the new flow of student traffic between the three buildings that the changes will create. One of the major student body complaints, which the recommendations hope to solve, is the lack of space for student
and recreational activities. Hopefully, by allotting the bottom floor of Sacred Heart Hall to student and recreational activities, this problem will exist no more. The redistribution of -space will occur over a two or even three year time span. Following the general guidelines offered by the planner, the changes will occur somewhat along this line : Sacred Heart Hall will contain classrooms, the cafeteria, recreation rooms, student activities rooms, commuter facilities and locker rooms . Grace Hall will house all of the faculty offices. The offices of the chaplain, the Dean of Students, the Psychologists and the nurse will possibly be located in Grace Hall. Along with these offices, the college store, the post office, the theater, a student lounge and a multi-purpose hall may alse be located in Grace Hall. As the need for space becomes more demanding, the ground floor of Holy Spirit Library may contain the Fine Arts department, an audio-visual area along with a quiet student lounge for studying.
Father Rudy Fund:
Memorial by Cindi DeRitis
keeps his spirit alive
Since the death of Cabrini 's chaplain, Father Rudy, many people have been interested .in doing something in his memory for the benefit of Cabrini College. The sisters of the College community became aware of the people's interest . With some discussion, it was decided by the Administrators of the College to start a Memorial Fund in Father Rudy's name _. Prior to the re-opening of school in January, considerable thought was given by the Council of College Affairs as to
what the goal of the Memorial Fund should be. The Council submitted their idea to Sister Mary Louise Sullivan, president of the College, for the final decision. Many donations have been given to the Fund, even though many people are unaware of its goal. The Father Rudy Memorial Fund, although not formally announced, will need the involvement of the college community.
