I call the colored markings on my paintings “memories." – Brad Durham

Lora Schlesinger is pleased to presents Depth of Light, New Paintings, by Brad Durham. Durham’s lush landscape paintings explore memory and space through colored markings. He consciously leaves smudges and marks that occur naturally as evidence of the paths taken to create each work. He embraces and acknowledges the decisions made, the imperfections in each layer, and the pains and efforts necessary to make something beautiful. The paintings do not strive for perfection, but rather are constructed to present authentic memories of history and time. Each has an identity and a voice that is intimate, honest and serves as manifestations of self. Brad Durham is a nationally exhibited artist. His work is included in the collections of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, Long Beach Museum, Orange County Museum, Santa Barbara Museum of Art and Cantor Arts Center at Stanford University. He was awarded the Minnesota State Arts Board Artist Initiative award in 2011 and has completed several residencies with Cirrus Gallery in Los Angeles and Aurobora Press in San Francisco.

The gallery is located in the Bergamot Station Art Center, 2525 Michigan Avenue, T3, Santa Monica. For additional information please call (310) 828-1133, view our website at www.loraschlesinger.com, or e-mail: gallery@loraschlesinger.com.
