The completion of our stunning new Science Centre will enable our pupils to immerse themselves in this world and greater equip them for the future. New state-of-the-art laboratories, coupled with independent study spaces, will help give our pupils the best chance to excel in all three sciences. Breakout areas and the faculty room offer excellent collaboration opportunities across year groups and beyond. Our inspirational teachers will continue to capture the imagination and harness the curiosity and creativity of LWC scientists now and for generations to come, for they will be our future engineers, chemists, doctors, virologists, researchers, astrophysicists, inventors,

The new building will transform the delivery of Science at LWC. Moving from nine labs, of varying sizes and quality, and two temporary classrooms, to 13 large, flexible laboratories will enable teachers to plan and deliver exciting activities in all lessons. The labs have been designed to meet the particular needs of the three departments and there is a specialised lab for Junior Science. This increase in space will enable LWC to continue developing its outstanding Science provision outside formal lessons too, including the popular Astronomy GCSE, Dissection Club, Junior Science Club and EPQs. In addition, there is considerable space for private study and group collaboration, with a dedicated area for sixth formers, so that pupils can develop their knowledge and skills, as well as work on joint projects. FLEXIBLE, PROFESSIONAL VENUE FOR YOUNG PERFORMERS AND AUDIENCES

6 | Aspirations

Performing Ar ts Performing Arts

The Performing Arts continue to thrive at LWC. Music, Drama and Dance literally take centre stage throughout the year and across all year groups.

Our performing arts team aspire to do even more and for that we need to upgrade some of our performance spaces, namely the Dance Studio and the Theatre in Visual Arts

the Music and Drama Centre.

We want the MaD Theatre to become a multipurpose, modern space for both performers and audiences to enjoy. New tiered, retractable seating arranged on 3 sides will allow “theatre in the round” performances as well as end on productions. A sprung floor will transform the venue for dance and drama. New curtains, lighting, sound, filming and other technical upgrades will mean the theatre can be transformed for every performance, making it an incredible, professional space for all. Alongside the MaD Theatre refurbishment, we would like to turn the Dance Studio into a multi-functional space for pupils by the addition of new, retractable theatre curtains across the mirrored wall.

As a community of Performing Artists, both students and staff are extremely excited about the new Theatre refurbishment, resulting in a fantastic space for a range of Drama, Music and Dance activities and events. With our new Harlequin sprung floor, we can offer the best quality performance stage and working studio space for our students. The new technical upgrades will enhance teaching and learning, as well as the quality of productions and performances we can deliver. The refurbishment will completely transform the performance space and foyer, providing audiences with a truly immersive theatre experience. Head of Performing Arts, Gemma Reeks

Thank You The LWC community has shown incredible loyalty to the College this year in particular. We really do appreciate your support through these unprecedented times. You have continued to support the Foundation. You have stepped up to help LWC families who are struggling by donating to the COVID-19 Appeal for Single Term Bursaries. You have fully funded the CCF Ceremonial Appeal. We are truly grateful. We will, of course, continue to fundraise for the Foundation as it remains at the heart of LWC and all we do. However, we hope you will support some of our other aspirations to ensure they become a reality for pupils today and in the future.
