Basics of Quilting Gail Schaffler $135 This course is perfect for anyone wanting to learn to quilt or for those who wish to brush up on the basics. At orientation we discuss the pattern, supply list and you choose your fabrics. During the following 4 classes we cover rotary cutting basics and quilt top construction and assembly – strip sets, pieced blocks, borders, layering and binding. Some homework is required. If you have a zigzag stitch on your machine, along with stitch length and width adjustments, you can do this. We will cover straight lines, inside and outside curves, inside and outside corners and points. We will also talk about needle and thread choice, machine settings, and other tips to help you get that beautiful finished look. This will be a skills class in the morning followed by a workshop in the afternoon where you can work on any appliqué project you have waiting for you (maybe a Row x Row, a block of the month or any other project you want support with). Basic Machine Quilting Velma Mallow $50 Join Velma to learn the basics of machine quilting. In this 3 hour class you will learn to set up your machine, how to layer a small quilt top and will practice stitching different designs in a 9 block sampler. Key Largo Barb Leger $100 This pattern comes from a Fons and Porter magazine. It is constructed with easy four patches and log cabin blocks, then embellished with some simple appliquĂŠ. The pattern is square but I have altered it to make a rectangular twin. With a little figuring, it could be made any size. ORT Mon Dec 3 6 - 8 pm Classes Mon Jan 7, 14 & 28 6 - 9 pm

Meet Me in the Middle Elaine Xenos $125 Let Elaine guide you through making this amazingly simple queen sized quilt. It's much easier than it looks. Mixed Pineapple Quilt Barb Leger $100 This is a combination of large and small pineapple blocks, made with the Pineapple Trim Tool rulers. Once you get the hang of it, the blocks are fast – and oh, so perfect! Color choices can totally change the look of this quilt. You can make it as large or small as you wish. In this class you have a choice - you can make a regular One Block Wonder or use a panel and add the One Block Wonder blocks to enlarge it. The technique is the same for both – only the design stage at the end will be a little different. Either way, you will end up with a stunning quilt! Outfit your entire family with soft, comfy pajama pants! We will use the book Sew Easy Pajama Pants by Cindy Taylor Oates as the basic pattern. Stick to the basic pattern or customize your project with pockets and different waistline treatments. Learn a few tricks to make waistline casings behave better. Flannel is always a good choice, but also consider gauze or rayon for summer wear, or try the cotton knit for ultra comfort! (Class requires purchase of the book of patterns and will require pre-shrinking of the fabric). Solstice Lisa Bernhard $155 I’ll walk you through every step of creating this amazing quilt! Learn the fun technique of edge-coloring appliqué and become a fearless stitcher. The majestic creature is made in 97 sections from 12 different fabrics, organized from lightest to darkest. A basic knowledge of foundation paper piecing is required. Gail Schaffler, Studio 180 Design Certified Instructor Tucker U is a fantastic program that offers a series of 12 technique classes to help improve your quilting skills and accuracy. A new Studio 180 Design tool/technique is taught in each class and the 4” units completed in class can be combined to make 8” or 12” finished blocks.

A supply list, including fabric requirements, is emailed prior to class. The technique sheets and design tools can be purchased at class. Quilters of any level will benefit by attending Tucker U and will experience a better quality of piecing using the Studio 180 Design tools and techniques. In this class we will be making mini quilts. Great little pieces to hang, put on your table or a gift for someone special. Sometimes it's nice to start and complete a project in a day. This class will run every second week, to allow you to get any homework done. To guarantee your place in a class, payment must be made at the time of registration. Phone registrations are accepted with Visa or Mastercard. If you are unable to attend a class, you may ask a friend to take your place. There are no refunds on registration fees. Class Pass exempt. If minimum enrollment is not met, we reserve the right to cancel the class. In this case a full tuition refund will be given. If there is no orientation, it is your responsibility to ensure that you get a list of materials or a pre-class homework list. Lori’s Country Cottage aims to keep the cost of classes down so we require that your supplies be purchased from Lori’s Country Cottage. Do not purchase your materials until the class has minimum enrollment. Due to copyright laws, class participants are required to have the pattern or book if applicable. No children, babies or guests in class. Teens 16 years and older are welcome in our adult classes. Please leave the store number at home for emergencies and have your cell phone turned off during class. Please be prompt for on-time start to classes. All classes held at Lori’s Country Cottage require that you supply Some knowledge of a your own: Beginner sewing machine.

Most of our classes have Ready to try something an orientation class (ORT) Challenging difficult. scheduled prior to the actual class. The ORT is planned to give the students time with the instructor to assist them in selecting the materials required for a class. If possible, purchase all class materials during the ORT. Border Creek Station Mystery Quilt Laura Catto $50 Join Laura on the second Thursday of each month, October to May, as we help Border Creek Station celebrate Friendship. We will piece together this year’s mystery titled Quilters Friendships. If you haven’t done one of these mysteries before, you don’t know what you’re missing. If you think that making a full size quilt is too much for you, throw that thought out the window, because this quilt is broken down into “bite sized” pieces. Each month we will walk through the steps and techniques to be used in the next set of instructions and Laura will demonstrate the tools that will make the job easier.
