British designer Alexander McQueen created the Hummingbird rug in 2010. controversy. SAY A LITTLE PRAYER — THE PRAYER RUG Ar tist and illustrator Robyn Waffle is new to rug design. Her Across the Line series from earlier this year, is her first foray into the medium, and for her first pieces, she chose the theme of spirituality and prayer. “I pray all the time to my own higher power; it’s very im-
portant to me.” Inspired by traditional Iranian prayer mats and tribal rugs, Waffle teamed up with Jordan Reznick to create the Modallion rug studio inside Reznick Carpets. Each rug is hand-knotted and carved in Nepal, using hand-dyed wool. Custom colours and sizes are available, but in stock is the 4 x 6, $2,500 from reznickcarpets. com.
