Q: We moved into our house
last fall and are about to embark on a renovation. We bought a two-storey built in the 1930s with a dining room, living room and kitchen on the main floor. Our plan is to remove the walls and essentially open up the entire main floor. The only problem I foresee is that immediately on opening the front door you step directly into our living room. Do you have any suggestions to help me create the feeling of an entryway? A: I am very familiar with the scenario you describe, having had friends purchase older homes and do exactly as you are about to.
