Everything’s waiting for you The child in all of us can only marvel at the extra days and weeks of Christmas excitement Moose Jaw offers. While the rest of the world has to wait until December, Christmas starts early in the Friendly City. Starting in October, with its now-famous Christmas in October (see related article, page 3). Moose Jaw residents and visitors alike can enjoy the sights, sounds, tastes and, yes, even sales of the holiday season for more than two months. Santa comes early to Moose Jaw with Christmas in October, when a wide range of events and activities are held throughout the city. While many take place at various recreational and entertainment facilities, along with outdoor fun in the Wakamow Valley, the spirit of Christmas lives in the downtown. With its historic Norman Rockwell-style heritage properties, many of them wrapped in Christmas trimmings, the downtown is a strong draw. Started back in 1990 by renowned artist Yvette Moore, Christmas in Oct. has become an annual rite of autumn in this historic city of 34,000. “I think the reason we’ve been so successful is because of what we have offer in terms of the history and the character — we’ve created an ambience that’s second to none,” Moore said. That spirit carries on until into the new year, with the First Night Celebrations at the Kinsmen Sportsplex capping this year’s events. From October 20, when Christmas in October gets started this year, until early in the New Year, with the extended offerings at many of the City’s facilities, there’s a lot

of time to fill. And, Moose Jaw’s downtown doesn’t disappoint, with its array of shops, restaurants, accommodations, spas and entertainment. Various participating stores will be all ready for the holiday season beginning Oct. 20, with extended hours and incentives unique to each store. You don’t even have to worry about parking — the City offers free parking downtown on all weekends. However, there is a buzz in the downtown core that definitely will want you planning to come early. The city’s new Multiplex, home of the Warriors and now officially named “Mosaic Place,” is an exciting new addition to downtown that gives even more reason to park, stay, play and shop in the heart of the city. Watch for participating stores that will be offering Game Day incentives and extra hours to accommodate guests visiting Mosaic Place. Much to the joy of Moose Jaw shopping fans, some of Moose Jaw’s finest are collaborating to offer a very special new weekend of shopping activity. From Nov. 11 to 13, the city is getting ‘All Decked Out.’ “We decided to create an elegant weekend of Christmas activities that would again pull visitors and our own shoppers to downtown and showcase all the reason of why they truly can do all of their shopping with our many unique and exclusive offerings. The holiday season débuts in style at Christmas in October Christmas comes early in Moose Jaw, where Santa’s sleigh bells ring out in October, inviting visitors to get a jump on the season. During Moose Jaw’s Christmas in October, hundreds of visitors join local residents, all anxious to explore the city’s many unique shops. They are seeking the perfect gift, want to catch the first glimpse of the latest in holiday decorating, or are shopping for a stylish new outfit for upcoming Christmas parties and gettogethers. “It’s a very exciting and busy time of year for us,” said Liz Craigen, owner of Cranberry Rose Boutique, one of the approximately 60 businesses taking part. “It’s the perfect time to shop. It helps people get in the Christmas spirit. Even if people aren’t buying, they are getting really good ideas about what they want to do for Christmas.” Christmas in October is held each year on the third weekend of October — this year’s event will be held Oct. 20 to 23. During the two-day event, each store’s lavish decorations provide a feast for shoppers’ eyes, while the other senses are treated to the sounds, tastes

and aromas of the holiday season. In addition to stunning visual displays and holiday music, many businesses offer their customers festive beverages, samples and treats to enjoy while they shop. Many participating stores extend their hours, opening evenings on Thursday and Friday, or add a shopping day Sunday. Some offer specials with a different sale each day of the four-day event, and some offer instore draws and give-aways. “Each store does their own unique thing,” said Craigen. Preparations for the event begin weeks in advance. “We add Christmas into all our displays throughout the whole store. Right after Thanksgiving, our staff begins decorating for the holiday season. They are all very excited about the event,” Craigen said. Shoppers also plan for the special weekend well in advance and like it so much that many out-of-town visitors often ask when the following year’s event will take place so that they can make arrangements to return. Yvette Moore, artist and owner of the Yvette Moore Gallery, started Christmas in October in her home 20 years ago. She invited other

artists and artisans to showcase their works and capture the attention of pre-season buyers. The event has grown continually, and now, throngs of customers and visitors drop in to the city’s downtown to enjoy this first taste of Christmas. “We welcome and congratulate all the businesses that are taking part,” said Craigen. “They are very excited about doing it. Those of us that have been around for over 15 years — we still get excited about it.” Even many service-oriented businesses, like spas and restaurants, join in the festivities IS THE with Christmas displays and promotions. The City of Moose Jaw contributes to the festive atmosphere by switching on the

Christmas lights on Main Street when the event begins, at approximately 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 19, this year. If you can’t make it to Moose Jaw in time for Christmas in October, don’t worry. Except for a pause in respect for Remembrance Day, the beautiful displays and great shopping will be around until Dec. 25. “Christmas in October is just the beginning,” said Craigen.

Gluten-free RolledSugarCookies 1 1/2 cups white rice our 1/2 cup butter, cold 1/2 tsp. cream of tartar 1/2 cup sugar 1/2 tsp. baking soda

1 egg, cold 1 1/2 tsp. xanthan gum 1/2 tsp. almond avouring 1/8 tsp. salt

Combine the rice our, cream of tartar, baking soda, xanthan gum and salt. Mix well. Cut in the butter until the mixture is in crumbs the size of peas. In a small bowl beat the sugar, egg and almond avouring together. Add this mixture to the dry ingredients and mix until the dough pulls away from the sides. Form the dough into a at ball shape and refrigerate for one hour. Dust some freezer paper (not wax paper) with gluten-free our or confectioners sugar. Put the dough on the freezer paper and sprinkle with our. Roll the dough to 1/4 inch thick and cut out shapes as desired. Bake at 350°F for 12 minutes. Cool on a wire rack. Yields 20 cookies. Small businesses celebrate Christmas Small businesses, regardless of the number of employees, have a great opportunity to show their appreciation for the year’s work and to celebrate the Christmas season. The Moose Jaw and District Chamber of Commerce is again partnering with the Heritage Inn to present the Annual Small Business Christmas Party. The 2011 event will take place on Saturday, Dec. 10. Winter fun in Wakamow There is no need to dread the upcoming winter months and cold temperatures when there’s so much fun to be had in Wakamow Valley. Moose Javians and visitors are lucky to have access to a whole list of things to do, many available only in a winter wonderland located in the beautiful valley. The fun starts in early November with the 19th annual Wakamow Christmas Craft and Bake Sale held at the Sportsman Centre Nov. 5. The event features a variety of different vendors from communities across Saskatchewan, and there will also be chili and homemade Christmas goodies for sale. Admission is $2 with doors opening at 10 a.m. The fun doesn’t stop there. On Nov. 10, Wakamow Valley presents the Festival of Flavours, proudly sponsored by the Heritage Inn Hotel and Convention Centre. There will be local and regional cuisine, as well as the latest in alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages available to sample. Tickets, which include five sample coupons, are $25 and can be purchased at Wakamow Valley and Heritage Inn. Additional coupons can be purchased for $1 per coupon. All proceeds will go directly to the Wakamow Valley Authority Development Fund. This is a great idea for the annual Christmas staff party. Make sure to get your tickets early to guarantee a night of fun! Sleigh bells will be ringing through the Wakamow valley on Dec. 23 from noon to 3 p.m. Perfect for all ages, Wakamow Valley will have horse-drawn wagon tours through the valley’s winter splendor. There is no charge for the rides, but donations will be gratefully accepted, with all proceeds going towards improvements in Wakamow Valley. There will be hot chocolate on sale to help you keep warm and have some old-fashioned, family fun. Just bundle up and come on down! If you are feeling creative and just want to get outdoors to break free from that Saskatchewan cabin fever, Wakamow Valley offers many opportunities for winter activities, including skating on the oval, cross country skiing, snow shoeing and tobogganing. Gluten-free Gingersnaps 3/4 cup white sugar. 3/4 cup margarine 1 egg, beaten 4 Tbsp dark molasses 2 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. ground cloves

1 tsp. ginger 1 cup white rice flour 1/2 cup brown rice flour 1/2 cup soya flour 1/2 cup potato starch Dash of salt

Preheat oven to 350° F. Spray baking sheets with non-stick spray. Blend sugar and margarine. Add beaten egg and molasses. Whisk dry ingredients and mix in with molasses mixture. Beat well until blended. Grease hands and form into one-inch balls. Roll in white sugar. Place balls on prepared baking sheet. Press with bottom of glass dipped in white sugar. Royal Canadian Air Force Band all set to bring Christmas cheer By Tim Jones For L-P Specialty Products This Christmas, the Royal Canadian Air Force Band is making its second trip to Moose Jaw in as many years. The band will be performing a Christmas concert starting at 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 7 at Moose Jaw’s iconic Mae Wilson Theatre. The Royal Canadian Air Force Band is a venerable institution that has been around, in one form or another, for over 65 years. The band itself is an air force unit dedicated to performing music in Canada and across the world. These professional musicians are always sure to put on a great show. The group numbers around 30 musicians and singers who are equally split between French and English performers. At their show, you can expect to hear a strong mix of classic and contemporary music that is suitable for all ages. Last year’s concert was great, but this year’s promises to be even better. To help sweeten the deal, the

concert is being held in the name of a good cause. Proceeds from the concert will go to support the 431 Air Cadet Squadron. The air cadets will even have a hand in organizing and promoting the concert. Tickets are available for just $10, making this Christmas concert an easily affordable event for the whole family. If you will be in the Moose

Jaw area in early December, be sure to check this concert out. Though this marks the Royal Canadian Air Force Band’s second visit to Moose Jaw in two years, there is no guarantee that you will will be able to see them again soon. Moose Jaw sparkles

Nutter’s Best-ever ButterTarts 1½ cups seedless raisins ¾ cup brown sugar ¾ cup corn syrup 2 eggs, slightly beaten dash nutmeg, cinnamon or allspice

30 - 3” frozen tart shells 1/3 cup butter 1/8 tsp. salt 1 tsp. vanilla 2 tsp. vinegar

Pour boiling water over raisins and let stand for 10 minutes. Drain and dry. Set aside. Combine butter, sugar, corn syrup and salt. Mix well. Stir in eggs, vanilla, vinegar and spice. Do not use electric mixer or hand beater as beating makes the mixture too frothy, causing lling to boil over pastry during baking. Place frozen tart shells on cookie sheet. Sprinkle 1 to 2 tsp. raisins in the bottom of each shell. Fill shells 2/3 full. Bake in a 400°F oven for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350°F and bake 5 to 10 minutes longer, or until pastry is golden. For a third Christmas season, Tourism Moose Jaw will adorn its property with thousands of Christmas lights. Last year, 15 trees on the property at the corner of Thatcher Drive East and Highway No. 1 were dressed with over 5,500 lights. This year, the organization plans to add another 1,500 lights. Exec ut ive d i rec tor Ca nd i s Kirkpatrick said, “Response from the community has been so gratifying that we simply have to continue.” Any why not? The beautiful Visitor Centre, with Mac the Moose and the Snowbird tutor jet, are often the first face of Moose Jaw that many visitors see. Tim Horton’s devotees make the trek across the road daily. For them, and others who just come to bask in the Christmas spirit, the tourism centre will continue to sparkle. Kirkpatrick would like to eventually see all 42 trees on the property alight. In past years, members of Tourism Moose Jaw have sponsored individual trees. This year, however, everyone will be given the opportunity to take part in the initiative. For a donation of $50, donors’ names will be displayed in the Visitor Centre. For $100, names will be placed in the Visitor Centre

and on the tourism website (www. tourismmoosejaw.ca), and donors of $150 will also see their names in print in the local newspaper. “Every dollar helps,” said Kirkpatrick, who explained that they have had to add electrical panels just to accommodate the lights. As well, Tourism Moose Jaw purchases all the lights and electrical cords required. Anyone wishing to donate is asked to contact Tourism Moose Jaw at 306692-0555, email exdir.tmj@sasktel.net or drop off a donation at the Tourism Centre, 450 Diefenbaker Drive. Lights will be ready to shine for the kick-off of Christmas in October, Oct. 20 to 23, then turned off until after Remembrance Day. They can then be enjoyed until the end of January.

It’s a wrap — green alternatives for gift packaging If your holiday halls are decked with stacks of paper bags, mounds of crumpled wrapping paper, an array of random ribbons and a gaggle of gift tags that are destined for the local landfill, it’s time to add a little “green” to

your gift-wrapping regimen. Given that the average household’s waste jumps by more than 25 per cent between Thanksgiving and New Year’s Day, and that holiday debris adds an additional one million

tons per week to landfills, there is a lot that everyone can do to recycle, reuse and reduce during the holidays. Here are some ways to go green and even save green on gift packaging this year:

Recycle Conventional wrapping paper typically cannot be recycled since it is often coated in metal foil or is plastic laminated. But if the paper rips and doesn’t glitter or shine, it can — and should — be placed in the recycle bin along with other paper products. Check with your local recycling provider to find out which types of wrapping paper they accept. The good news is that recyclable wrapping paper is increasingly available.

Reuse Before the opening of the gifts begins, set aside a box for collecting reusable boxes, wrapping paper, gift bags, bows, ribbons and other decorative items. Even if wrapping paper is torn, it can be used for craft projects, packaging filler or to enclose smaller gifts the following year. Gift bags are also great candidates for reuse. If the surface of the bag is marred from removing ribbon or a bow, the spot can be covered with other decorative items or scraps of used wrapping paper. Reduce Recycling and reusing boxes, wrapping paper, ribbon and gift bags is a big step in the right direction. But the best way to avoid waste is to reduce the use of these items in the first place. Rather than wrapping gifts in paper, consider using scarves, old tea towels, cloth napkins, or leftover fabric. If you’re crafty, consider creating your own simple fabric bags that can be easily sewn by hand or machine. If you’re not, try painting an old pillowcase and tying it up with fabric ribbon, string or even shoelaces. And don’t forget newspaper! The comics make colorful giftwrap any time of year, particularly for kids.

Mincemeat Loaf 2 1/2 cups our 1 tsp. baking soda 2 eggs, beaten 1 can sweetened condensed milk 1 cup candied cherries

2 cups cut mixed fruit 3 cups mincemeat 1 cup pecan or walnut pieces

Mix fruit, nuts and mincemeat together in a large bowl. In separate bowl, combine our and baking soda together and then add to fruit and nut mixture. Add the beaten eggs and can of milk. Mix well. Pour into prepared loaf pans. Bake at 250°F for 2¼ hours. Recipe courtesy of:

He photographs natural occurrences of letters of the alphabet and puts them together to spell words. Whistlestop welcomes many new exhibitors again this year. Saskatoon-born Darci Newton creates useful items out of objects that once served a different purpose. Using the moniker Uptown Vintage to describe the work she does, her work ranges from creating earrings and bobby pins from buttons, to jewelry hangers from picture frames and coasters from floor tiles. Ali Thompson is a freelance writer who owns and operates a photography business, AliLauren Creative Services. She ‘up-cycles’ old frames with paint and frames her prints in them, matted with old dictionary pages. She also makes Polaroid (yes real Polaroid!) photo greeting cards and pendants/necklaces with photography set in resin charms. Linda and Joyce, retired Regina teachers, offer Super Kids Personalized children’s music CDs that are intended to uplift young children and enhance their self-esteem. Their 21 different CDs range from soothing lullabies for newborns, to upbeat pop songs for youths aged six to 10. They also handcraft gift boxes for their CDs and uniquely decorate them for occasions such as baby showers, birthdays, Christmas and ‘just because.’ Mesh Mash Concepts and Designs, founded in Moose Jaw earlier this year, designs and manufactures mesh shower bags called the Twist N’ Shower. A mesh shower bag for organizing shower products such as shampoo, body wash and shaving cream, it comes in a variety of sizes, colours and features. It has a flexible handle that allows easy adjustment to fit any number of surfaces and has a variety of uses, such

as camping, sports, hunting and organizing household bathrooms. If you’re looking for unique, handcrafted jewelry, Whistlestop crafters have you covered. Moose Jaw’s Carelebeads returns with her handmade glass beads — a key element in her beautiful jewelry collection. Other jewelry designers attending are Bailey Kasko, Scribbles Brass Victorian Jewellery, Five Doors from Caronport, Two Chicks Beading and Designs by Debbie. Zephoria Jewelery will be showcasing silver and copper jewelry containing semiprecious stones. Lil J’s Jewels is another Moose Jaw jewelry designer that will showcase at Whistlestop for the first time. Whistlestop has some wonderful wood crafters this year, including the scroll work of Harvey Parkinson. Willie Fedorus and Y Knot Wood have everything from vegetable bins and mailboxes to quilt racks and oak stools. Moose Jaw’s own Gerald Ford creates wood-carved toys, trinkets and Christmas decorations, and Ray Mann and Bonnie Bartel create driftwood art. There’s a wide variety of food booths this year, including Over the Hill Orchard’s delicious Prairie Cherries products including chocolates and pies; Eva’s Lentil and Barley Soup; Angela’s Own Homestyle Originals dip mixes; preserves by Nata Kline; and Kristen’s Homemade Preserves. Adding to the delicious mix this year is Donna’s Meats, with homemade sausage and perogies, and cabbage rolls by Mary’s Custom Baking from Manitoba. The Picnic Basket serves up soup and drink mixes. Travelin’ Java will fill you with delicious custom-made coffee and specialty drinks, and there is chocolate galore at Shirley Howell’s booth. Material Girlz from Medicine Hat have beautiful handmade lamp shades, plus cute children’s purses and coin wallets. The Missing Link has a charm for every occasion and place. Marlene Daley’s booth will feature a decorated Christmas tree displaying her handmade ornaments. Handcrafts Unlimited has children’s designer sweaters and hats, and Eliza Carpentier and Hannah Rannie make bows and flowers for infants and little girls as well as knit hats and soothers. Sewing products are available through C & E Crafts, and Marg Smith offers a wide variety of products from mitts, hats and baby seat covers to tableware. Pottery from Dragonfly Clay & Crafts displays a unique and interesting style. Included are unusual globes filled with prairie delights like leaves, flowers and feathers. A must-see. The craft sale wouldn’t be complete without the amazing talents of artists like Bernadette Lusney from Penguin Chaos and the embroidery wonders from Yuhu Creations of Calgary. For several decades, the little white church with the word ‘POTTERY’ displayed on the roof has been a landmark alongside the Number One Highway near the outskirts of Moose Jaw. The word atop the building does not, however, begin to describe the art objects that are to be found within the Parsons Dietrich Pottery Studio.

Inside the quaint building, the creative minds and hands of the husband and wife team, Wendy Parsons and Zach Dietrich, fashion clay and ceramic pieces that are distinctive and beautiful. Dietrich works at the wheel, creating items such as pots and jars. His functional pieces become works of art as he adds texture, decorates and carves them, and formulates the perfect slips and glazes. Parsons designs a variety of unique, often whimsical decorative items, including ﬁgures and roundels, which are circular tile wall pieces, some featuring rural scenes.To produce very special items, the couple collaborates, each employing their own talents and strengths to create the ultimate design. At this studio, teapots are not just teapots and jars are not just jars — they impart personality as they take on

the form of living things such as loveable monsters. Parsons’ and Dietrich’s creative touch and attention to detail is n o t limited to the shape and form of the pieces they create — to achieve the very specific results they desire, they use three different kilns. The basic electric kiln, which is used for the initial bisque firing to harden the clay so that it doesn’t break when being handled, is preferred by Parsons for the final firing of her roundels, since it allows her to produce a wide variety of bright, vibrant colours. Stoneware and porcelain clays need to be fired at the high temperature that only a gas kiln can produce. For a one-of-a-kind, earthy effect, a wood-fired kiln is used. As the wood burns, ash lands on the pieces and adds a unique element to the final finish. “It gives a real special effect that you can’t really control that well,” said Dietrich, “it’s like the kiln does some of the work for you. You get really special pieces that you can’t get with any other method.” Working with this kiln is, however, very labour intensive. It must be stoked with armfuls of wood about every five minutes for 12 hours. The impassioned work of Parsons and Dietrich has not gone unnoticed. It is valued both within and outside the province. Many of the tourists who once venture

off the highway to view and purchase pieces make it a point to return to the studio each time they travel in southern Saskatchewan. Dietrich said that visitors appreciate the opportunity to connect with the artist who made piece they are purchasing. “People who come into our studio say it is really nice to come and actually see how the process works and see us working. If you are buying something in a store, you never get to meet the person who made it,” said Dietrich. “I think that personal connection is really a drawing card.” The artists, in turn, appreciate the opportunity to enlighten others about their craft. “We really encourage people to visit our studio, have a tour, and really get to know us as artists — it’s all part of educating the public about our craft.” The education process includes conducting workshops for fellow potters and encouraging the next generation of artists to try their hands at working in clay. Parsons and Dietrich visit south Saskatchewan schools, sharing their

joy of pottery with area students, and guiding them through various projects. “We’ve done a few different projects with schools and they are really fun — kids’ art is so great, and kids love clay. It’s so expressive — you can draw on it; you can texture it; you can sculpt on it.” Within the province’s art world, the couple is highly respected as evidenced by the recognition their work has received. Their pieces have been extensively displayed in local art galleries and have garnered numerous project grants from the Saskatchewan Arts Board. Parsons and Dietrich are celebrating their 31st anniversary at the Moose Jaw location, but they have not yet exhausted their creativity. “We are always trying new things. Our work changes from year to year and is hopefully getting better. I think part of the reason we are still around is because we are still excited about clay and the possibilities, and I think our customers see that too,” said Dietrich. “That’s what keeps working with clay exciting for us. Clay is limitless — you can experiment forever and never do everything.”

Nutter’s was created from a vision of merchandising bulk and speciality foods in a clean, friendly, and customer service-oriented retail setting. Over the past 29 years, Nutter’s has evolved into a truly unique food retailer combining a commitment to the pursuit of a healthy lifestyle with exciting in-store merchandising. From humble beginnings in 1982, in a small 900 square foot location in Medicine Hat, Alberta, Nutter’s Bulk and Natural Foods has grown to over 28 locations, from Manitoba to British Columbia and one store in the United States. In 1982, Dr. Jim Cranston and a local partner saw a need in Western Canada for a new concept in food shopping. After the first year of business, it was apparent that consumers were ready to adopt the idea of shopping in bulk and the new variety of products it offered. In 1983, the partners had made the decision to move their small bulk food store into a 5,000 square foot, high profile, location in Medicine Hat, Alberta. The rest, as they say, is history. With the new visibility and influx of customers came the requests for franchise information.

In 1994, Dr. Cranston’s nephew, Donald Cranston, purchased the shares of Dr. Cranston’s original partner and began what has been a 29 year evolution of the Nutter’s operating system. Through the leadership of Donald Cranston, and Lynn Cranston (daughter of Dr. Jim Cranston) with input from a very experienced head office support staff and franchisees from diverse backgrounds, the Nutter’s Bulk & Natural Foods concept has seen incredible change from the original concept. The evolution of the business has taken us from a traditional bulk food store, to full service delis, seasonal gift tray programs and now, health and natural food centres. The changes in our stores have been the result of reacting to our customers’ need and our ability to recognize that in order to survive in today’s marketplace, you must stay one step ahead of consumers’ needs.

In 1984, Nutter’s Bulk and Natural Foods officially began franchising and after two years of business, had opened 11 outlets in Alberta and Saskatchewan. With growth, came the need to make administrative changes and Dr. Cranston and his partner recognized the need for strong, full-time leadership of the company.

Some of the staples you found years ago are still there. Budget-friendly holiday meals With so many people looking for alternatives to costly holiday fare, newspapers, magazines and online cooking sites are overflowing with great ideas. But the key to hosting a successful seasonal meal is not simply finding interesting recipes and purchasing lower-cost foods, but in creating and organizing a menu that works from start to finish. The easiest way to do that? Make a plan and stick to it. Share the cooking and the cost Rising food costs and tighter budgets have prompted many people to host potluck holiday dinners. As the host, you might prepare the main dish and have your guests fill in the rest of the menu. Annual Christmas in October art show and sale History was written when a group of 14 artists put together plans for the first annual Moostletoe Studio Tour. On Saturday, Oct. 22, artisans will open their studios to the public throughout Moose Jaw. For the event, Muralist and Caricaturist Ward Schell created the happy Moostletoe Logo that will soon be seen all over town. Start your Moostletoe Studio Tour by picking up a map from the Tourist Info Centre (at the Big Moose on the Highway) or at any of the participating artists. Follow the map to 10 stops to meet the artists and enjoy their creations including pottery, glass, paintings, baskets, sculpture and carvings. Many artists will have a draw to win a piece of art. All stops will offer their unique handmade crafts and you will be able to talk to artists about their work.
