The benefits extend even beyond that lower interest rate. In the majority of cases, the brokerage fees are paid by the lender, not the client. “We work for the client, not the lender. The client doesn’t pay in 99 per cent of cases,” said Yanko, adding he can remember fewer than a “handful” of clients he’s handled having to pay anything. The mortgage broker concept is relatively new to Regina. Crown Mortgage Services was one of the first mortgage brokerages to open its doors here in 1999. As the city has grown, so has the need for mortgages, and mortgage brokers. “It’s catching on as more people use it and learn more about it,” Yanko said. The need for a mortgage can only increase as the Regina housing market continues to remain strong. “The boom will continue, though maybe not to the extent we’ve seen in the last couple of years. Financial experts are forecasting that interest rates will not rise dramatically in the future,” Yanko said. He anticipates that, while there may be economic slowdowns elsewhere in the country, Saskatchewan’s strong economy will insulate it from the worst effects. Whether rates rise or not, people will be buying homes and Crown Mortgage Services will be there to help them navigate through the process to make home ownership a streamlined process.

T
he Children’s Hospital Foundation in Saskatchewan has a friend in RE/MAX Crown Real Estate. On August 20, the company will host its eighth annual Charity Golf Tournament, with proceeds from the event being donated to the foundation. Funds raised will support patient care, equipment and technology enhancements, and research and education. Since its inception, the RE/MAX Crown Real Estate Classic Charity Golf Tournament has raised more than $145,000 and organizers hope to significantly add to that total late this summer.
Within the RE/MAX network RE/MAX Crown Real Estate is the #2 contributor in Western Canada and RE/MAX Western Canada is the #1 region contributing over $1.7 million in 2012. Cliff Iverson, an agent with RE/MAX Crown Real Estate, co-chairs the committee that works hard to make the tournament a success, year after year. When asked why he contributes, Iverson said “I was so fortunate to have two healthy children. So many parents watch their children face health challenges that are devastating. I appreciate the opportunity to help families through a difficult time.” Iverson is not alone in his sentiment. So many are passionate about helping the foundation, which explains why the tournament continues to grow. Held at Deer Valley, this year’s tournament features specialty holes, putting contests, giveaways, unique silent auction items, a fabulous meal and prizes for all participants. Said Iverson, “All RE/MAX agents do charity work for many different causes including Movember, Breast Cancer Research, Habitat for Humanity Regina and many other organizations. This tournament allows us to get together and enjoy a day on the golf course while supporting a very worthy cause.” When asked if you have to be a good golfer to participate, Iverson laughed and said, “No. It’s just a great day to get out in the sunshine in beautiful Deer Valley. We’ll enjoy each other’s company, have a great meal at the end of the day, and go home knowing that families were helped because of the camaraderie we enjoyed on the course. It really is win-win for participants and for the recipients of the money raised.” Registration forms will be available soon for the tournament and there are plenty of sponsorship opportunities to help make the day a huge success.
