Satu Malaysian Centre A multicultural centre for Malaysian to acknowledge and balance the broad variety cultural influences in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Satu Malaysian Centre in where all Malaysians may come together and unite as one nation. The centre’s goal is to promote the importance of being a Malaysian regardless of ethnicity, language, or religion to create people’s will.

Concept

Malaysia is a diverse country, with Malays, Chinese, and Indians making up most of the population. Each ethnic group has its own distinct culture and characteristics. Although Muslims are the country’s largest ethnic group, they gain more from the government, while people of other races face discrimination and prejudice. Finally, racism and prejudice have been significant sources of conflict between ethnic groups in today’s society. Spacial Resonance To raise awareness of the many cultures, languages, and social status among Malaysians. Social Interaction To provide an opporturnity to communicate with different races for reducing unconscious discrimination. Eternity To encourage diversity by allowing individuals to coexist peacefully.

Outdoor Performance Area The aim of an outdoor performance area is to promote social interaction and provide cultural performance that includes traditional dances, music, and other types of entertainment from numerous ethnic groups and is given access for visitors to enjoy.



Social Area A huge, entertaining stairway that welcomes a range of ethnic groups or others is located in the centre of this community centre and welcomes visitors from all backgrounds.


F&B Area A café that promotes traditional cuisine from different ethnic to advocate the characteristic of Malaysia in Satu Malaysia Centre.


Library The library is offering a place for people to gain the knowledge of Malaysia’s heritage and history through the collections of article and books.



Communal Kitchen & Dining Area A communal kitchen is a place that allows people to share their culture and enjoy the cuisine while creating a social environment for people to communicate. At the same time, it also delivers the awareness, comprehension, and appreciation of the unique culture in Malaysia.


Art Studio Visitors may experience different types of Malaysia’s proprietary art and craft through the lesson to encourage multicultural backgrounds and emphasize the character of each ethnicity.


Dancing Studio The dancing studio provides traditional costumes from different ethnic in Malaysia to rent for the dancing class that enjoy the moment of unite as one to learn and enjoy the dancing together.



Activity Area Congkak, one of the traditional games with a wooden boat-shaped block in Malaysia, has been transformed by using different materials and methods for visitors to experience the exciting part of the games with other people.

Home Cooks A community space is located at Seletar, Park Lane for people and migrant workers who love to cook and share the same hobby of cooking activities together. “Foods bring people together”, to design space about preparing and food that encourage to communicate to each other. Slowing down the step of life and enjoy foods which are launching more social movements. An area for them offer the opportunities to share skills, socialize and reduce costs by collectively. People or other groups can informal gatherings of friends who come together regularly to cook and eat.

Concept

Inspired by the migrant workers who migrate within their home country or outside it to pursue work. They are the exile lost in the hot womb of soil at Singapore. They forced to cannot always go back to their hometown and see their family. Therefore, the concept of ‘a journey to home’ come with. Create a warm living community house that promotes them a comfortable and restful stay. “Food brings people together”, to give the opportunities of local people and migrant workers to meet and cook at communal kitchen, so to begin a new cuisine and conversation together.

Urban Farming Area & Communal Kitchen There are few urban farms for them to take vegetables for cooking purpose. There is also a small urban farm along the walkway behind, a person who are the in charge to take care the urban farming.



Mini Market When people visit Home Cooks, they can take the baskets to grab the materials . Then, after finishing to choose the materials , using self-service counter to bill yet starting to prepare local cuisine with their friends.



Communal Kitchen & Dining Area

After finishing their materials, there have some communal kitchens for them to use and enjoy the process of cooking. Wooden table and chair which is the area for them to taste some foods when they finish their cooking.


Dining Area & Social Area To design a dining area to see through the whole space. An open concept to make use of people can bring their foods upstairs to continue their conversation of cooking. People can walk around to share and enjoy talking with others in the social area too.


Cinema Room There is a cinema room next to the social area for people enjoy watching movies about cooking show.



Library Room To design a library for people to come to read and find the cookery books they want. A place for them want further their knowledge of cooking and there are many series and languages of cookery books for them to explore and gain the knowledge of cooking.

Coffee Diaries A coffee is a diary, it tastes up and down, yet joy and intoxication to every people. Inspired by diaries,to create space with full of layering.A reatil collaboration selling the local brands Onlewo products, and coffee beans which is came from India, yet breads with India features,to creates an exclusive cafe lumiere for every customers.

Outdoor Dining Area Outdoor space dining area creates a void wood structure cover which is inspired by Rangoli.This design will make them feel that Rangoli is blooming and surrounding them. Using Onlewo cushion cover to promote products also make them feel comfortable when sitting at outdoor area.



Display Products of Onlewo & Coffee Beans of Coffee Diaries This area displays the products of Onlewo such as Faux Suede Notebook., lights and women wear which is located at entrance beside. The coffee beans are displayed at the entrance in front. There are two tiles to emphasize the selling products area. Plants are for decorating the area.


Counter & Dining Area Coffee Diaries Counter is designed to sell coffee drinks and breads.Besides, coffee beans are also selling at the counter open shelving below.There also have seating area surround the counter. The pillow cushion covers are displayed at the coffee bean shaped shelf for selling purpose.



Dining Area The seating area has surrounded by book shelves with books from India which recorded relevant information of coffee and coffee beans. Also, books are able to block the noise from first floor to provide a quiet reading space for customers. There’s a display shelf which is hung at the white brick tiles pillar to exhibit Onlewo plates.
