[Anita Kovács] Many prognosticate a serious crash in music industry due to the recent COVID situation. How do you think pandemia effects the smaller underground bands’ life?

[Csaba Kósa] This is a very complex question. Before the pandemia I already felt this underground scene got tired

already, the audience got tired and slothful. The clubs outside the soho were empty, and actually we cannot say that the city club audience would be loyal to a specific band or genre. People were attending only the band they already knew, and after it’s show they left the club – this felt if you were an „entertainer” for a drink. Our music is not like this, which also means we had 1 show only in two months. Pandemia strikes concerts and tours, concert organizers start their mortal agony. However, we could do a gig after the first wave, and we felt that the audience was more aware, both the headcount and the loyalty caused a very positive feeling. At this show I felt that people are getting bored with dubbing mainstream music, and I hope a unique attitude would be appreciated more and more in the future. The Hungarian political climate also stimulates idiosyncratic sounds, I feel a demand from the audience for the unique, categoric, clearcut sound, the distinct attitude, the counterculture, the

nonmainstream. We may get some crumbs of the enthusiasm of the ’90s audience.
[Anita Kovács] How do you think it will impact the clublife?
[Csaba Kósa] The current situation causes that live music sector means clublife – no festivals, no huge events in arenas. I hope that the audience would appreciate the performers staying alive amongst the smoking ruins. Lots of our plans and fixed giges were swept by the pandemia, but some doors may be open out in Mid Europe. Our previous experiences and shows – eg. at the Slovak Hradby Samoty Festival we are ready to perform for the foreign public as well. I can say we are open for Polish festival as well, as I feel people in Mid Europe are enjoying our experimental attitude. Our dream is to perform on festivals like OFF or the Bolków Castle Party, or Wrocław Industrial. I cannot see the future, but the varied culture and festivals in Poland proves that

people here are demanding the non-mainstream genre both in music and art.
[Anita Kovács] Do you know the Polish doom/ritual/ metal scene? Are there any bands you would collaborate?
[Csaba Kósa] I think the Polish metal and death metal scene is one of Europe’s strongest (Behemoth, other Nergal’s projects, Mgła etc.). Industrial and noise are also very strong, so it is very inspirative to take part at Wrocław Industrial eg. I could accent Wiktor Skok, as Jude’s music both in concept and technics is very close to Entrópia Architektúra, so I can imagine any kind of cooperation with them. Slovakian and Polish underground seems to be very strong and inspirative especially seen from Hungary. I think they managed to keep the atmosphere and continue the specific approach of underground – what was discontinued in Hungary in the 90’s after the closure of our legendary clubs like Fekete Lyuk.

[Anita Kovács] You have another solo project, called Der Zunder. Tell us some more about this conception.
[Csaba Kósa] As for me, the site project Der Zunder and the band Entrópia Architektúra are not dissevering, they stand together. I just have another aspect of the same ideas. For me, Der Zunder means a more intimate contact with the

public. Entrópia Architectúra is rather a distinct psychological warfare against the audience – and very effective! It is a pleasure to see how they are shaken up. In opposite, Der Zunder is like a father telling stories to his grandchildren, not happy stories, but still stories about the shady and estranged side of the world, you would not dare to enter alone. In this project I keep holding the audience’s hand while walking on these dark paths and I give the answers and close the doors at the end. Entrópia Architektúra has the responsibility as well, but we do not give any answer or solution, neither absolution. Links:
