This sculpture comments on the recent....that took place in a short space of time. Mofokeng lost two close family members (an older sister who passed away due to a short illness and a brother due to a fatal accident).
We all have lost our close friends, family, and colleagues. Death causes sorrow. It’s sad to depart from those we are very fond of or love.
Doves represent healing and the return of hope to carry on after sorrow. Hence, the title of the artwork is “Death be not proud”.
