Remembrance Day 2015
Remembrance Sunday was marked with the annual parade that includes members of the armed forces, the LES CCF and Loughborough ACF, Scouts and Guides. This was followed by the service in Queen’s Park that was attended by hundreds of members of the community. At LHS on Armistice Day, we held a special assembly and we remembered the fallen and a wreath was placed on the cherry tree planted in memory of former pupil, Second Lieutenant, Joanna Yorke Dyer
Chemistry Lecture Completely captivating chemistry lectures! Years 8 and 9 witnessed some brilliantly explosive demonstrations by Dr Steven Rossington from Salford University as part of Chemistry Week

Storer won the 2015 Trophy by one point!
Time and Space Father-Daughter and Mother-Daughter event. Year 7 Dads and Year 8 Mums enjoyed quality time with their daughters at two special events, sharing memories and experiences, led by Bill Jennings from ‘Time and Space.’

Sport rienteering Loughborough High School students retained their Lower Secondary girls title, with the Juniors winning Gold in the British Schools Score Competition at Chobham Common. Ours Seniors took silver, coming second in the Upper Secondary class. The team also had individual successes with Elizabeth winning year 12/13 girls Gold, Amatulla winning Silver and Maddie, Bronze in the year 9 girls competition.
Festival of Sport
Football The Football Team won the U14 County Cup, without giving away one single goal!
The U13 Hockey A Team, won the Festival of Sport tournament in October.
Cross Country Laura Mullin won the race In the Secondary Schools Cross-Country League for the second time this season and LHS took home the team victory. The year 7 team won the crosscountry relays at Thomas Estley School . They are the county league Champions and Indie King is the County Champion!

Trips The Good Food Show GCSE and A level food students visited the Good Food Show at the NEC on Friday 27th November. The highlight of the day was a live cookery demonstration by Mary Berry and Paul Hollywood. Due to several culinary disasters, the group decision was that Paul would not be going thorough to the next round! A cracking time was had by all.
Art The Y10 Art and Design group visited the Hepworth Gallery in Wakefield to look at the work of Dame Barbara Hepworth and the Yorkshire Sculpture park to see the Poppies installation and Bill Viola exhibition .

Trips Charnwood Museum The Archives group enjoyed a visit to the Charnwood Museum to see their contribution to the LHS display as part of the community Great War Centenary Project. The girls enjoyed meeting other old girls and contributors and compared LHS then and now.
Yr.8 Trip to Mount St. Bernard’s Abbey Y.8 girls enjoyed a trip to the Abbey at Mount St. Bernard. A highlight every year is the delicious chocolate made by the Monks.

Shakespeare for Schools Festival LES Drama perform Twelfth Night at the Curve Theatre
CCF Motorsport Field Day For this year’s Field Day, Richard Eggar from the Loughborough Car Club at LGS, set up a mini skills course at Donnington Race Circuit. Girls learned to control a car and to do emergency stops. They were taught to navigate safely around a cone formation with the added pressure of being timed‌ needless to say it got very competitive! There was lots to learn and overall the day was very enjoyable.

Achievements Senior Prize Giving Senior Prize giving saw another year of great achievements. Our guest speaker was Old Girl, Miss Jessica Lee, a former MP and now a barrister. The year 12 students pictured were awarded with the GCSE Academic Prize and the TH Simpson Trophy.
Head Girl Our Head Girl for 2015/2016 is Evie Powell, standing by the honours board, where her name has been put beside generations of Head Girls before her .
Music Talented flautist, Emilie has been chosen to join the National Youth Wind Orchestra of Great Britain and Una’s exceptional vocal ability has earned her a place in the National Youth Choir.
