We are working on offering travel services to your gym or home as well as offering training out of John Paul's home gym. What is TPI? The Titleist Performance Institute (TPI) is the world's leading educational organization dedicated to the study of how the human body functions in relation to the golf swing. Since its inception in 2003, TPI has studied thousands of golfers ranging from the top professional Tour players to weekend enthusiasts. An incredible amount of data on players of all shapes, sizes, ages, and fitness levels has been gathered during this time. Using this data, TPI discovered how a properly functioning body allows a player to swing a golf club in the most efficient way possible. Additionally, TPI has analyzed how physical limitations in a player’s body can adversely affect the golf swing and potentially lead to injury. All this R&D means little to the average golfer if it can’t be put into practice in a simple and meaningful way. TPI Certified members are the delivery vehicle of all this knowledge to you. By working with a TPI Certified expert, you’re tapping into this vast knowledge base and taking the right

steps necessary to find your most efficient golf swing. TPI does not believe in one way to swing a club, rather in an infinite number of swing styles. But, we do believe there is one efficient way for every player to swing and it is based on what the player can physically do. The most efficient swing is not the same for every golfer, because efficiency is unique to their body. To achieve an efficient swing, a golfer must first be screened. This screen involves an assessment of swing mechanics and biomechanics, physical fitness, movement quality, current health and a client history. Once this screen is finished, the results are used to create a plan unique for that golfer. We offer home/gym programs with follow up consults, one on one and small group training. By: Coach Andy Bryson 2017 Schedule The Saints took a huge leap backwards over the past few seasons. Limited depth added with over paying aging veterans has lead to salary cap obstacles and little depth after the starters. After the released of several veterans and the freeing up of some cap space, the Saints have began the log journey of rebuilding a great franchise. The Saints had an uncaracterisly good draft, maybe the best draft since 2005. Quarterback: Drew Brees is the All-Time passing leader in Saints history. I’m not expecting anything less than another stellar season from him. Running Back: The Saints went out in free agency and signed future Hall-Of-Famer Adrian Peterson to give themselves a redzone threat. Then in the draft, they drafted Alvin Kamara to be a change of pace back that can do everything from catch the ball out of the backfield to spread the defense out with his speed on the edge. Finally the Saints return their first 1,000 yard back since the Duce in Mark Ingram. Wide Receiver: Michael Thomas, Willie Snead, and Ted Ginn Jr give Brees a 1 2 3 punch to make another 5,000 yard season. Tight End: Coby Fleener was such a let down last season in the red zone. Coby has good speed and has the tools to be great with an All-Pro QB. I have always liked Josh Hill since he runs great routes and can catch the ball when asked. He is the swiss army knife of the offense since he excels in the run game as a blocker.

Offensive Line: Terron Armstead will start the season on the PUP list, this will give rookie Ryan Ramczyk an opportunity to start early on. The Saints signed Larry Warford this offseason to lock up the middle of the line. Sean Payton said of Larry, “we think he’s got ass and mass.” Andrus Peat will most likely start in place of Armstead at left tackle then move back inside to guard when he returns from the PUP list. Max Unger will continue to lead this line at center. If this group can mold together, they could be one of the top lines this season. Defensive Line: The Saints need to find another edge rusher opposite of Jordan. Last years #12 overall pick, Sheldon Rankins, got after QB’s after he returned from the injury list. The Saints need to develop another tackle and end this season. Linebacker: Stephone Anthony, Manti Te’o, and Craig Roberson will all compete for the middle backer spot. Secondary: Delvin Breaux is one of the top cover corners in the NFL. Even after a broken Tibula last season, he still locked down the edge until going on injured reserve. This years #11 overall pick, Marshon Lattimore, hopes to be able to lock down the other side. Kenny Vaccaro will play more of a bandit role this year which plays into his strength since he is more of a hybrid linebacker safety. Vonn Bell played so well last season that the Saints cut ties with veteran Jarius Byrd and rookie Marcus Williams should be able to round out the safeties. After drafting Lattimore and Williams, the Saints should have fixed the secondary and boosted the linebacker spot with Vaccaro being able to move into the box. www.LouisianaGridironFootball.com

Specialists: Punter Thomas Morestead and Kicker Wil Lutz will return this year. Ginn and Kamara will be the returners this year. Both bring elite speed and both can make people miss. With all the new addition this season, this could be an interesting season to watch Saints football. If the Saints find that red zone threat, they could be a 14-2 season. 6

If there was ever a team that had something to prove, it is the Atlanta Falcons. With all the hard work to make it to the Super Bowl, then be up 28 to 7 entering the fourth quarter, just to lose in the final seconds of the game is more than just a heartbreaker, but a travesty. After the loss, the Falcons’ management have doubled up on talent in order to change their outcome this season. The Falcons have a history of digging into the talent pool that LSU and Louisiana has to offer. Last season, the Falcons drafted Deion Jones and three years ago drafted their starting corner, Robert Alford from Southeastern. Both of these Louisiana products made huge impacts in the Super Bowl, with Deion Jones recovering a forced fumble and Robert Alford having an 83 yards pick six. During this years’ draft, the Falcons drafted Duke Riley out of LSU in the third round. We think that Riley found a great linebacker out of LSU again and we think he will see field time this season. The Falcons have also drafted emotion, enthusiasm, and pass rushing abilities in Takkarist McKinley out of UCLA. The Falcons will need to work on time management if they want these new players to make a difference in their post season record. However, the Falcons will definitely be a contender this season due to their high level of talent and depth on the roster.

After a Super Bowl appearance in 2015, the Panthers took three steps back in 2016. Injuries and a lack of production in the running game kept Cam Newton on his back most of the season. The Panthers spent the offseason working on their issues both in the running game and passing game. Christian McCaffrey (running back) looks to live up to the family tradition that his father made at Denver. All Pro wide receiver Ed McCaffrey was a two time Super Bowl champion in the late ‘90’s. Christian is much like his father. A hard worker both on and off the field. He is a multidimensional back that can either line up in the back field or he can line up in the slot and play receiver. Another way that the Panthers improved their roster is by adding Curtis Samuel, who is a speedy guy who will play in the slot and will help in freeing up Benjamin on the outside. By drafting him, this causes a horrible mismatch on the inside because you have to pull a defender from the outside. At the end of the day, the addition of McCaffrey and Samuel can be the difference in returning to a top of the NFC South, probably the toughest division in the NFL with the past two Super Bowl contenders coming from the same division. The Panthers, Falcons, Saints, and the Buccaneers all could be playoff teams in 2017. www.LouisianaGridironFootball.com

In his fourth year of rebuilding the Buccaneers’ team, General Manager Jason Licht made some interesting picks. Most avid Buccaneer fans would agree that during his first two drafts Licht seemed to focus on offense (Winston at number one overall in 2015). Last year however Licht changed tact and worked on defense (Vernon Hargreaves III ,cornerback, taken at number 11 and pass rusher Noah Spence in the second round.) Coming as a surprise to some, tight end O.J. Howard was still available when the Bucc’s got the pick at number 19 in this year’s draft. It is likely that Howard will help increase their run game with his blocking. Also, when you put him on the other side of Cameron Brate opposing defenses are going to have some significant difficulties. We also expect Justin Evans (Safety , number 50 in this year’s Draft) to make an early appearance this season. S Justin Evans (No. 50), an aggressive defender, should find his way onto the field early. Those are the main cogs of this class. The Bucc’s may have some competition at linebacker due to Kendall Beckwith (Number 107) coming off an knee injury. As a whole, the Buccaneers have a lot of talent to work with this season and could prove to be a threat this season if they are able to gain momentum early in the season.

The Cowboys’ first pick in the draft was used to help them address their edge needs. However, it remains to be seen if defensive end Taco Charlton at the number 28 pick overall will fit the bill. While some argue that Taco doesn’t have elite talent; we hope that he will become a force at right-side defensive end. During the second round, the Cowboys worked to address their secondary finding Chidobe Awuzie and Jourdan Lewis (both cornerbacks). Both of these defenders can make a difference quickly as tough defenders who can hold their own no matter where you put them. Lewis was recently found not guilty in some domestic abuse allegations. The Cowboys are glad that they will get to utilize this player this season. We here at LGF are very excited to see how safety Xavier Woods will fit into the Cowboys’ scheme. While at LA Tech, Woods commanded the middle of the field as a genuine interception threat. Other teams will ignore him at their peril. He will also take pressure off Byron Jones. Finally, Ryan Switzer (number 133 overall, wide receiver) will likely be used in conjunction with Cole Beasley or possibly handle kickoff return duties while playing behind the more seasoned receiver. The Cowboys are in for a good season if their picks all pan out the way they hope. www.LouisianaGridironFootball.com

This season the Giants have a real shot because they remade their offense while keeping what was working last year. There was a period last year when the Giants just couldn’t get it together on offense. The franchise seems to have felt that some of the responsibility resides with Eli and what better way to help out your quarterback than to surround him with playmakers. While the Giants have clearly picked out a potential successor to Eli Manning’s quarterback spot, they are certainly making great efforts to improve and extend his career this year. They even picked up a shiny new offensive tackle to improve his protection plan. In their first tight end pick in the first round since Jeremy Shockey in 2002, the Giants’ pick in Evan Engram is a match up nightmare. I’m talking about a 6’3”, 234 lb guy who can run a 4.4 40. He will provide a jack-of-all-trades inside threat. Odell Beckham Jr., Sterling Shephard, Brandon Marshall, and Evan Engram will create three or four wide packages that will add some major scoring possibilities. I mean who would choose to double cover Evans when it would mean that you have to leave one of the Giants’ stud receivers wide open. With this in mind, we think the Giants did a very good job in this years Draft because they will be able to find a way to score. www.LouisianaGridironFootball.com

The Philadelphia Eagles did well in the Draft this year. All of their picks seemed to truly address their needs list. They were in desperate need of a pass rusher and cornerback and drafted both. Derek Barnett (defensive end, Tennessee) was picked up in the first round. The major bonus is that Barnett will fit in perfectly with Jim Schwartz’s schemes. Eagles management likely wants Barnett to focus mainly on penetrating the backfield, which will fit into his skill set nicely. Howie Roseman beefed up the defensive end spot by adding Barnett to Brandon Graham and Chris Long. Look for the Eagles to get a lot of sacks this season. Having addressed the cornerback need during the draft, this season there will be a great deal of competition at this position. Sidney Jones (who is coming back after an Achilles tear) and Rasul Douglas It remains unclear just how fast Jones will recover. Tentative estimates from the team’s orthopedic surgeon indicates he should be mostly recovered this month. If Jones is able to fully recover, he has impressive potential. With the added weapons of wide receiver, Mack Hollins and Shelton Gibson (both who can stretch the field) will help quarterback Carson Wentz to improve this season. The eagles have all that they need to be a force this season but only time will tell just how well they will do.

The quarterback spot for the Redskins remains at least partially in question. Kirk Cousins (quarterback) was unable to close a franchise deal with the Redskins by the July 17 deadline. While he will play a second year under the franchise-player tag, which entitles him to about 24 million in salary. While it is likely post season, they will try to get a deal hammered out with Cousins it remains unclear if the Redskins’ management will be able to offer enough money to get Cousins to agree to a long term contract. If they are unable to hammer out a deal after this season they will be left with two options, risk losing him by allowing him to continue playing without a long term contract or lose him for sure by allowing him to go into free agency. Furthermore, if Cousins does get a better offer or walk through free agency the franchise would be stuck with either using Colt McCoy or Nate Sudfeld or having to draft a green quarterback. Hopefully Redskins’ management will be able to firm up this situation after the season because if they are unable and have to draft a rookie quarterback they will be the equivalent of starting over. Aside from the quarterback spot, the Redskins have made strides with their team this year. They picked up defensive tackle Jonathan Allen who despite residual concerns about his health is an impressive addition. Management also picked up cornerback Fabian Moreau who is recovering from a pectoral tear. This season if the Redskins’ gambles pay off they could make some great strides. www.LouisianaGridironFootball.com

With a three and thirteen season last years the Chicago Bears needed a lot of help to make this season a success. Last year was the sixth straight season that Chicago has come in short of making the playoffs. At this point the free agent quarterback Mike Glennon has won the starting spot at least for this year. Previously a high level backup for the Buccaneers, Glennon is in the audition of his life for this year. He will collect 18.5 $ million in guarantees from Chicago. “This year is my year and I’m not going to worry about the future,” said Glennon in May after the pick of the young rookie quarterback Trubisky. Meanwhile Mitch Trubisky will be watching from the sidelines and learning behind the veteran quarterback. While it has become expected for NFL teams to rush and push their expensive rookie quarterbacks into a starting position despite promises to everyone that they won’t; I think that the Bears have put enough into their quarterback pick and back ups that Trubisky will in fact be able to increase his knowledge in a safe and natural way watching others before he is thrust into the lime light. With only 13 games at North Carolina, Trubisky just isn’t ready to compete with more polished and experienced players such as Glennon and Mark Sanchez. Trubisky will be behind both Glennon and Mark Sanchez for this season. This season should improve from last year, not that it would take much to improve from a 3 and 13 record.

Last years season was disappointing for many Lions’ fans. Despite going 9-4 during the season and making it to the playoffs they were ultimately unable to pull out a post season win. Quinn has certainly been working to take care of major needs and to improve the squad overall. However, health is something that you can’t control in your players. At this point Lions’ quarterback Matthew Stafford seems to have recovered from his finger injury. During the recent playing camp, Stafford looked sharp and poised on the field. While Stafford is doing well post injury, Ziggy Ansah (pass rusher) continues to be on the physically unable list with a lingering ankle injury. Not to mention, the team already lost starting tackle Taylor Decker for up to a few months as he recovers from labrum surgery. Detroit is trying to take care of their run game as they had the third worst ranked run game in the NFL at 81.9 yards per game a year ago. Their efforts take the form of the recently drafted Rick Wagner at right tackle and T.J. Lang right guard who was picked up in free agency. An additional tackle/guard that was picked up was Greg Robinson. He has not been successful with the Rams, but as I frequently say, it’s all about how the player fits into the scheme. We are hopeful that the change in scheme will benefit both Robinson and the Lions. Another change is the signing of Cyrus Kouandjio another bust in his previous team. However Cyrus has the talent it just remains to be seen is how he will fit into the play this season with the Lions. www.LouisianaGridironFootball.com

As long as the Packers have Aaron Rogers behind center, the Packers will be in the mix as an elite football team. This years draft was just a reload of talent to add more depth and competition to a championship caliber team. However, when you think about it the offensive line took a few steps back this offseason. The loss of key players is always difficult. The secondary is going to be banking on a few rookies to change things around for the Packers. Pass rush may become an issue this season because of the reliance on Matthews. On the flip side, too much talent can be an issue as well. For example, at this point the Packers are overloaded at the wide receiver position. Not only do they have three impressive options at this position, but the management drafted two more pass catchers not very long ago. Eventually this season/preseason the Packers will have to get rid of at least one of these players. Clearly, Jordy Nelson isn’t going anywhere but there will certainly need to be some adjustments this season. This season has promise but it remains to be seen just how much this team will accomplish.

During the 2016 season, the Minnesota Vikings had a lot of talent and made a serious try for the playoffs. However injuries kept the team from being successful and forced the team to make some drastic changes in order to remain in the running for the NFL. One of the changes the Vikings’ management made was bringing in Sam Bradford quarterback as well as signing some offensive linemen. Even with these adjustments the Vikings went 8-8 last season and didn’t make it to the playoffs. The NFC North is one of the toughest conferences to be in nowadays. It is full of quality teams like the Packers, Lions and even the Bears . While the two former teams maintain heavy competition, lately, the Bears are just starting to put together the pieces needed to be a real threat in the NFC North. Even with all of their changes in the 2017 Draft and post season changes, the Vikings will need big wins in 2017 (possibly double digit wins) in order to be at the top of the North. The Vikings used this year’s draft to add some much needed depth to their team. This was a great draft for them when they landed Florida State’s best running back in over 30 years, Dalvin Cook. He is a highly versatile back that can do many things. He may not be that power, every down back like Peterson was, but he can catch the ball out of the backfield and still run between the tackles. Hopefully, the Vikings will be able to put everything together this season. www.LouisianaGridironFootball.com

The Seahawks have gained a lot of attention in the NFC West. It is hardly surprising as they have a deep roster and a weak division. That being said they will still have their work cut out for them if they want to hold back the Falcons, Cowboys, and Packers. Seattle was in a good spot entering the draft this year with very few needs. The Seahawks added a lot of depth and competition which helps this team moving forward. The Seahawks did not draft anyone this season that I would say was a wow factor, but they did draft a few quality players. This season the Seahawks have a very favorable schedule. They play three out of their four primetime games at home and as anyone who has ever been to a Seahawk game can attest, they don’t lose at home. The Seahawks only play two games in an eastern time zone and there are no back to back road games. LSU’s Ethan Pocic is going to come in a probably start day one. Ethan started at every position while at LSU before shoring up the offensive line at center. He is a force in the run game and can help in the passing game. We are looking forward to seeing what Pocic and the Seahawks can do this season in the NFC West. If they can hold out against the Cardinals in week ten they may have a shot to go all the way. However the Cardinals are an early favorite due to their by-week the week prior to their match up.

The Rams are now in their new home, and they have continued to get better every year. The upcoming season wont be any different as the Rams drafted a good red zone threat in Gerald Everett from South Alabama. "They've got to fill in and around Jared Goff. Obviously going to be a red zone target for them. Going to have to get a little better at the point of attack. He's going to be the move guy, but he's a good athlete." -- Brian Billick Wide receiver Cooper Kupp is an intriguing pick. I saw him play in the Senior Bowl, and when I saw him I thought that he could be a gem pick. He has fast cuts and sticky hands. He is an above average receiver. He could develop and become the number one target. The Rams drafted Tulane graduate Tanzel Smart in the sixth round. Smart is an aggressive interior lineman who plays with a high motor. He had an exceptional game at the Senior Bowl as well. The Rams added plenty of competition during the Draft for this summer and into the fall. We here at LGF are looking to continue improving this fall. www.LouisianaGridironFootball.com

15

Prior to training camp, the Cardinals released Daryl Washington and picked up Blaine Gabbert quarterback in free agency. At the start of camp, they had 5 quarterbacks on the roster. They did loose one during camp but there is still plenty of depth at this position. Carson Palmer was the starting quarterback last season and Stanton was the back up. The Cardinals are planning to maintain the rotation and add in a back up for Stanton in the form of Blaine Gabbert. Looking to their draft, the Cardinals added Chad Williams and Will Holden. Looking at their potential, they both have the ability develop into All-Pro players. The Cardinals drafted the top inside linebacker (Haason Reddick) in the draft then in the second round they select the third best safety (Budda Baker) in this class. Both of these guys will be expected to make an immediate impact as rookies. I think Will Holden will become another gem in this class. He will most likely be a right tackle or play guard. He is strong at the base of attack and his wide frame makes it difficult for defenders to run through. He lacks the arm length and foot speed to play left tackle, but I do believe after watching his film that he could develop nicely on the inside of the line or right side. Overall, the Cardinals have a lot of young talent to shape for the future but they are in a challenging conference.

The 49ers enter into the 2017 with confidence, enthusiasm, and passion. The new players drafted/signed have already been getting a lot of attention during training. Kyle Shanahan has worked to build up specific positions during camp and preseason, and he seems to have a fairly set view of how his players will be utilized. Rookies are gaining attention as well as adding depth at crucial positions. However this is not to discount veteran players. Despite their bulk up on defense the offensive side of the ball is still going to need some improvement in this next season. After they cut Colin Kaepernick this season they signed Brian Hoyer and Matt Barkley. Neither of these two is in my opinion is going to be a long term solution. However as expected Brian Hoyer has had a better season and will start out this season as the starting quarterback. Matt Barkley will provide back up but he also has the new C.J. Beathard nipping on his heels. This competition can only do good things for the 49ers. Trent Taylor was one of their best pick ups with his ability to go across the middle to make catches. Taylor is an impressive receiver and he should help whichever quarterback they pick. He is a born first down maker. Not to mention Taylor has been blowing it up in camp. Coaches and players alike have been taking note all summer long as he catches long passes making his quarterback look good. In our opinion he will definitely make the team. If nothing else they will be using him at special teams and he may be one of the biggest surprises this season. www.LouisianaGridironFootball.com 16

The Denver Broncos like many other teams have had a battle at the quarterback position this summer, however the expensive Paxton Lynch hasn’t won the spot yet. According to inside sources, Lynch will be following behind Siemian for another year. Pressure is mounting for Lynch to step out of the shadows and prove himself. Other quarterbacks have had to wait for a few years before landing a starting role, and Lynch does have the skill set to be starting quarterback in the National Football League. The Broncos used their first pick of this year’s draft to protect their young quarterback they selected in last years draft. However in the interim (prior to Lynch winning the spot) Garett Bolles will pick up the speed of the game very quickly and start day one. "He plays with a nasty edge. I just think his football IQ has to continue to develop. Too many penalties, takes some bad angles. But as far as talent as a left tackle, he can play." -- Mike Mayock. Broncos fans were not disappointed in Garett’s performance during the offseason as he won the starting spot for left tackle. Additional quarterback protection may improve the Broncos’ record this season however it will take more than one man to change the 9-7 record from last season. As they continue to build the offense the defense continues to age. While this year may be better than last year; this year may still be a rebuilding year for the Broncos.

With the Raiders first pick they take a huge gamble in drafting corner Gareon Conley. The management believed firmly that Conley would be found innocent of sexual assault charges. "You can't make that pick and be wrong because your owner is gonna hold you accountable for it if this kid ends up with any kind of jail time." Mike Mayock. The gamble paid off (sort of) as a grand jury recently found that there was insufficient evidence to charge Conley. As he will have no charges against him, the Raiders have picked up a very protective corner. However shin splints among other issues have limited his effectiveness during the summer and preseason. As a result he was on the PUP (physically unable to perform) list during camp. Another great addition for this season is Jylan Ware in the seventh round. “Ware fits the bill as a late-round developmental athlete they can mold into a serviceable role. He comes from a small school, but he has plenty of moldable traits.” Mark Dulgerian Despite the offseason drama, the Raiders looked good on the field this summer and they have the depth needed to make a strong showing this season. www.LouisianaGridironFootball.com

17

The Chiefs made one the biggest splashes in the draft by moving all the way up to number 10 to draft Patrick Mahomes. This was a huge surprise with Alex Smith still playing at a high level. However, this move gives the Chiefs time to groom the future of the team by not having to insert him in the game too early. Mahomes will spend the 2017 season learning the speed of the game, as well as learning how to read defenses. Coming from the Air Raid offense, which typically causes a much slower learning curve, Mahomes will be able to learn from an Pro Bowl quarterback. Mahomes stated in an interview this offseason that his playing ability is very close to an Aaron Rogers. If that is so, then riding the pine for a year (like Rogers) will be the best scenario. With a 12 and 4 record last season, the Chiefs have the raw talent in order to make it to postseason play. Andy Reid has been guiding the team well this season already. So drafting the future QB was not a bad move. I like their second and third round picks because both of those guys could make an impact as rookies. The Chiefs and the Raiders look to be the front runners for their division. Only time will determine who will come out the winner. www.LouisianaGridironFootball.com

Wide Receiver Travis Benjamin was forced to miss the last two games of the year for 2016 much to fans disappointment. However this preseason, a healthy Benjamin has been showing off his lightning speed during training camp. He also had a chance to earn his job back as the team’s punt returner. However at this time our sources indicate Benjamin didn’t win the punt return spot, but he did work his way into the back up spot there. His speed could be the key to some major connections this season. Regardless, with a 5 and 11 season last year, it will certainly take more than one man to make a significant difference for the Chargers. Management for the Chargers have stuck with Phillip Rivers upgrading the weapons and protections around him for this and possibly next season, but Rivers will still be receiving a lot of pressure to up his game. Some would argue that Rivers is one of the best quarterbacks in the history of the league, and he has been starting every game for about a decade. And yet, the Chargers have only made the playoffs 5 out of 11 opportunities during that time. Also they have only advanced as far as the AFC Championship game once. While the Chargers didn’t make it to playoffs last year, the rest of the league should sit up and take note to what is going on in Los Angeles.

The Colts are quickly falling to the bottom of the NFC South. While the rest of the division is getting better, the Colts have just stayed the course. Andrew Luck is still the light of this team, but he is one man. Numbers don’t lie. With Luck able to make only seven starts in his injury prone 2015 campaign, the Colts’ offense ranked 28th in total yards. Last year a healthy Luck was able to make 15 starts last season and the offense ranked 10th in total yards. 2016 was by far his best season in recent history. If Luck is able to stay healthy the team should be watched carefully. Indianapolis’s schedule is ranked as one of the easiest in the NFL this season. And some would argue that the Colts are in the weakest division. Looking back at the past four seasons, three out of the four times the team with the easiest schedule has made it to the conference title game at least. There is lots of pressure on Coach Chuck Pagano to make a successful run this season. With the new general manager Chris Ballard, Pagano will be feeling significant pressure to make this season the one where the Colts see a lot of postseason play. If he doesn’t chances are pretty good that he won’t linger past this season as most general managers like to bring in their own talent and their own staff. All in all this season will either be exemplary or look for some big changes for next season. www.LouisianaGridironFootball.com

Deep in the Atchafalaya Basin, there lies a school that many have heard of and now many Sun Belt schools fear, The University of Louisiana Ragin Cajuns. Known worldwide for their cooking and strange French dialects, the Cajuns are also hard workers and a determined group of people that can withstand class five hurricanes such as Katrina, or floods like the 100 year flood that happened in Aug 2016. These people never give up hope and are always out in the bayou working.

The University of Louisiana is very much like the people that they represent. It has seen hard times and loosing season after loosing season over the years. Every once in a while the school would win a game or maybe squeak out a winning season, but overall, the Cajuns were the stepping stool of the Sun Belt. When coach Mark Hudspeth was hired, he wanted to change the image of being the stepchild of the FBS. He wanted to change the culture and the perception that UL could be a great team, to match their academics. Since being named the head ball coach of the Ragin Cajuns, he has lead them to several consecutive New Orleans Bowl wins and Sun Belt Championships. Coach Hudspeth mostly recruits local talent but on occasion he will leave the state to look for the whole package; character, academics, and bigger- faster- stronger. Tracy Walker is one such man that is intelligent, bigger, faster, and stronger. Hailing from Brunswick, Ga where he was a member of the National Honor Society in high school. He is one of six children having five sisters (Tierra, Tiana, Talisha, Tre’yonna and Sy’eya). He was first team all-region choice as a senior at Brunswick High. Tracy registered 67 tackles with five interceptions, two forced fumbles and seven TFL during senior season. Tracy lettered twice in football and three times in basketball and was rated as a three star recruit by scout. He runs a 4.5 in the 40-yard dash and has a 36-inch vertical leap. I really enjoyed getting to know Tracy while at the Sun Belt Conference media day in July.

One of the questions we here at LGF always like to ask is when did you get started playing football? But then the more important question to fans is why did you keep playing? I started playing during my Junior year. When I started, I wanted to increase my self discipline. Football is a great way for young men to become more mature, so I decided to try it. As I continued playing and progressing I learned that I was good at the sport, and I made a career out of it. Why did you choose University of Louisiana Lafayette (UL)? The first thing that I think of when you ask me that question is what a great community there is in Lafayette Louisiana. As a football player the next thing I noticed was how amazing the coaching staff is here with the Ragin Cajuns. And it must be said the food locally is wonderful. There are so many choices of things to eat around campus. Another major factor was that the environment around the school reminded me of my hometown. I guess you could say the ambiance is the same. Ultimately, I just really fell in love with the school, and I had to go there. How do you feel about the success you and the 2016 team had this season? What it all boils down to is Coach Hudspeth. That is the key. If the team listens to Coach and does what he wants us to do; we win. He knows what plays to run, and who to play. He is always looking out for our best interest.

You talked about the great leadership for the team as far as coaches go, but what kind of student leaders are on the team at this point? There is great leadership on the team always because the veterans always take the job of showing the freshmen how things work. I know that when I was first starting here at UL, the veterans that were here taught me how to prepare and go to work. I used what they taught met to improve my overall game and to help me motivate my team on and off the field. What are your goals for this year? Truthfully, I don’t feel like my personal goals matter all that much. My goals align with my team winning the Sun Belt and Bowl game. My team is what is important, and I am going to do everything I personally can do to improve and help my teammates. What do you want to do after college? I definitely want to try and play in the National Football League (NFL). I know that it may not happen and if it doesn’t I plan to mentor high school players by coaching.

What has the road been like to get to this point? Coming out of high school, I would get into trouble often. That’s why I first started playing football. In football I found leaders who taught me how to become successful. I have to thank my parents, Pam Griner (my teacher), and Brelan Thompson who all helped guide me when I was having troubles. They really kept me on the right track and made sure that I didn’t screw up my life. What do you want to tell the fans about next season? Tell the fans that I am grateful for their support. We the Cajun family look forward to shocking the World this year. Make sure you go to the swamp this year and watch Tracy and his team play a much improved Sun Belt Conference. The Cajuns look to return to a bowl for the sixth time since hiring head coach Mark Hudspeth. Do not miss the home opener against in-state rival Southeastern Louisiana University, a Southland Conference power house ranked in the top 25 of the FCS polls.

The Jaguars went through an overhaul putting Ex-Giants coach Tom Coughlin in charge of the front office and hiring ex-Bills coach, Doug Marone to be head coach of the team. The goal is for the Jaguars to be a tougher, run-first team in 2017 with the addition of 1st round pick out of LSU, Leonard Fournette. Allen Robinson and Allen Hurns returning as the receivers for quarterback Blake Bortles. Bortles has struggled in his first few seasons in Jacksonville and looks to finally put it all together this season. With questions on the offensive side of the ball, the defense looks to be stacked. The Jags signed prized free agent CB A.J. Bouye from the Houston Texans, along with Calais Campbell from the Cardinals. With the return of young studs Jalen Ramsey and Myles Jack, and also former 3rd overall pick Dante Fowler two years removed from an ACL injury, the jaguars defense looks to build a ‘Seahawks South’ that will be dominate for years to come. While the Jags are littered with talent, it all comes down to Blake Bortles taking the next step in his development. The AFC south was not a strong division last year but the Titans look better on paper and the reigning champion Texans are welcoming back 3-time Defensive player of the year J.J. Watt. The jaguars have a chance to really improve this year and possibly sneak into the playoffs.

By: Dorian McElwee 2016 was a good year for the Titans tripling their win total from three to nine and just missing the playoffs. Led by franchise quarterback, Marcus Mariota, the Titans looked like a team on the rise in 2016. Mariota’s season was cut short by injury by breaking his right fibula. The resurgence of RB Demarco Murray and Heisman winner Derrick Henry return to lead a strong running game for head coach Mike Mularkey. The Titans welcome back Pro-bowler Delanie Walker manning the Tight end position. The wide-receiver corps has been overhauled with first round pick Corey Davis out of Western Michigan and speeddemon Taywan Taylor from Western Kentucky. The Titans also brought in veteran Eric Decker to give Mariota all the weapons he needs to lead the team to a post-season birth. The Defense is led by future Hall of Fame coach Dick Lebeau, looking to bounce back after having a mediocre 2016 season. Titans do have pro bowlers Jurrell Casey and Brian Orakpo returning to help right the ship. The biggest question mark for the Titans is the secondary. They added Logan Ryan from the Super Bowl winning Patriots and drafted speedster Adoree’ Jackson from Southern Cal to try and improve the secondary. After improving their win total last year, I see no reason they cannot improve again this year. Anything short of a playoff birth would and should be a disappointment. www.LouisianaGridironFootball.com

By: Dorian McElwee The Houston Texans won the AFC South despite having poor quarterback play and star defensive-end J.J. Watt missing almost the whole season with an injury. Head Coach Bill O’Brien believes in quarterback Tom Savage and moved up in the first round to draft Clemson QB Deshaun Watson. Just having average quarterback play would improve the Texans chances of going deeper in the playoffs. Star wide receiver Deandre Hopkins is back but second-year wide receiver will miss time with a broken collarbone suffered in training camp. The Texans will look for former Ohio State QB Braxton Miller to take a step forward in his transformation to NFL wide receiver. The Texans have a Super Bowl ready defense that was only held back by middling quarterback play last year and that was without J.J. Watt. Having the 3-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year back in the fold only makes this defense even scarier. Watt teaming with former first overall pick Jadeveon Clowney, should terrorize quarterbacks on a weekly basis. They did lose star cornerback A.J. Bouye to the Jags but they have enough depth to offset his loss. Can the Texans make a Super Bowl run by riding their defense again? Or will rookie Deshaun Watson step up and take the reigns of the offense to at least be average to go along with one of the best defenses in the league?

By: Dorian McElwee Can the Super Bowl champions be even better than last year? Well it certainly appears so and that is a scary proposition for the rest of the league. Led by future Hall of Famers coach Bill Belichick and quarterback Tom Brady, the patriots look to be the first team to repeat as Super Bowl champions since‌. you guessed it, the Patriots in 2003-2004. While dominating the AFC East for the last decade or so, the Patriots have their goal of Super Bowl or bust with Tom Brady turning 40 and coming off one of his better seasons in his career. The Patriots added wide receiver Brandin Cooks from the New Orleans Saints and also added star cornerback Stephon Gilmore to team with Malcolm Butler to give the patriots one of their best cornerback duos ever. The Patriots will also welcome back AllPro Tight-end Rob Gronkowski back after missing the last few games of the season and playoffs. The only question left for the Patriots is if Tom Brady, at age 40, will take a step back in his performance. The last quarterback to be 40 and make and win a playoff game was Brett Favre with the Vikings. After last season, it does not look like Brady is ready to take any steps backwards. www.LouisianaGridironFootball.com

By: Dorian McElwee The Buffalo Bills finally parted ways with the boisterous Rex Ryan and replaced him with former Panthers defensive coordinator Sean Mcdermott to hopefully bring more stability to the franchise. The Bills play in the AFC East, which has been owned by the Patriots in the past, and hope to be more than a speed bump for the defending champs. The Bills return 28-year old quarterback Tyrod Taylor even if it seems to be unwillingly. The front office and the quarterback spent the offseason looking for alternatives before ultimately deciding to reunite for another season. Taylor is a mobile quarterback and throws a great deep ball but that is where his strengths end. The Bills need receiver Sammy Watkins to stay healthy and produce to the standards they envisioned when moving up to the number four overall pick to take draft him. He and Taylor are both free agents after the 2017 season. The Bills have welcomed back Lesean McCoy who is coming off another 1,000-yard season. The Defense appears to be the glaring weakness for the team and they lost their best player from the unit in cornerback Stephon Gilmore. Their edge rushers are getting older and there aren’t many other standouts from this unit. The hope is Sean McDermott’s expertise will make a difference. www.LouisianaGridironFootball.com

Can NFL teams successfully “tank” a season? Well it appears the Jets are set to find out. With one of the NFL’s worst rosters and seemingly no answer for the most important position in football, the Jets seem destined to finish in the basement of the AFC East again. Will journeyman Josh McCown start at quarterback or will it be Bryce Petty or maybe Christain Hackenberg? I’m not sure even the Jets have an idea who it will be. They lost both their starting receivers in Brandon Marshall and Eric Decker this offseason and still don’t have a consistent running game. The offensive line looks to be a disaster as well. Head coach Todd Bowles is entering his second season as coach of the Jets and defense is his calling card. He hopes to make the Jets’ defense relevant again with stud Leonard Williams and hopes that Muhammad Wilkerson and Sheldon Richardson have bounce back years. They did draft LSU star Jamal Adams and Marcus Maye in the first two rounds of the draft to man the safety positions. They replaced the aging Darelle Revis with former first round pick of the Cowboys, Mo Claiborne. The hope is that Bowles will be able to run his defensive scheme the way he wants after not being able to do so in 2016. Either way, looks like it will be a long season for Jets fans.

By: Dorian McElwee Coach Adam Gase is entering his second season as head coach of the Miami Dolphins. Under Gase, quarterback Ryan Tannehill had his best season as a pro but had his season ended by injury in week 14 and dashing the Dolphins playoff hopes in the process. Tannehill again got injured during training camp this year and forced the Dolphins to sign Jay Cutler out of retirement to lead the offense. The Dolphins hope to get another good year out of running back Jay Ajayi by bolstering their offensive line with the drafting of Laremy Tunsil in the first round and the return of Mike Pouncey. Julius Thomas is back in the tight-end position trying to replicate his Broncos’ days. The dolphins also have pro bowler Jarvis Landry returning and resigned Kenny Stills to man the receiver position. They are looking for more out of third-year receiver Devante Parker to help bolster the offense. The defense for the bills returns Ndamukong Suh and Mario Williams to the defensive line and drafted Charles Harris in the first round. Cornerback Byron Maxwell had a good season after being briefly benched early in the season. The defense does not look to have added much in the offseason to take them over the hump. The dolphins need all the help they can to stop the Patriots from winning their 9th straight division title. www.LouisianaGridironFootball.com

By: Jasmine Brown The Pittsburgh Steelers are going into the 2017 season as one of the AFC favorites. With a roster as talented at theirs, the Steelers should have no problem contending for the Super Bowl as they have consistently been a team that makes it to the playoffs. With this being said, Ben Roethlisberger may be retiring soon so the Steelers need to win now more than ever. The Steelers have Le’Veon Bell, one of the best running backs in football and wide receiver Antonio Brown. In addition to them, there are a variety of playmakers present on the team and a reliable offensive line. However, they are counting on Roethlisberger to carry them. The Steelers rely heavily on him because he is the driving force behind a top ranked offense. If Le’Veon Bell can have another big season, after averaging more than 100 rushing yards and 50 receiving yards in 2016, the Steelers could be the ones to watch out for. With Martavis Bryant back in action, the Steelers have a dangerous set up at wide receiver. His speed and capability to take the top off the defense will help open up the field for Antonio Brown, who has been a target of double-teaming. Pittsburgh used a second-round pick on USC’s JuJu Smith-Schuster and added Justin Hunter in free agency. Juju could have an immediate impact in the slot too. When the Pittsburgh Steelers capitalize on offense and defense plays their game, there are very few teams that can put a stop to them. By: Jasmine Brown

The Cincinnati Bengals need to bounce back after falling short of the playoffs in the 2017 season. Time after time, they have had one of the more talented teams in the NFL but still manage to not make the cut. Plus, for the first time since 2009, the Bengals have managed to get a season opener so hopefully they can get off to a good start. Bengals’ offense is undergoing some changes that seem promising for them. After acquiring John Ross and Joe Mixon, in the 2017 draft, the Bengals have a pretty solid group of players on the offensive line. This should give quarterback, Andy Dalton, some help. With a 4.22 second 40-yard dash time, John Ross’s incredible speed will be a great addition to the Bengals’ offense. Ross is a diverse player because he is able to play both the outside and the in slot. Therefore, he will be a major complement to A.J. Green. He can also be used as a returner because back at Washington, he had four of his kick returns go for touchdowns. Bengals also came out of the draft with running back Joe Mixon, who was one of the best running backs in the draft but he had some off of the field issues. With Joe Mixon, comes his unique size, speed and his open field presence. Mixon’s talent will probably help him take over the top running back position for the Bengals, being that this is a position that the Bengals have struggled with in the past. The Cincinnati Bengals’ defense did well in the 2017 season and thankfully they have kept a majority of those players. Although the Bengals’ offense was without a doubt already explosive, John Ross and Joe Mixon will make sure it is even more effective than it was in the previous year. With all of the talent on the Bengals’ offense and defense, it is now up to Coach Marvin to make the best decisions to capitalize on these talents and to play Bengals’ ball. www.LouisianaGridironFootball.com

There is some optimism as the Cleveland Browns go into the 2017 season, as there should be after going 1-15 in 2016. The Browns hired Hue Jackson as head coach in 2016 in hopes that he would select and develop a new quarterback for the team. Defensively, they fired Ray Horton and some of his assistants and took the opportunity to bring in veteran Gregg Williams. The Browns invested profoundly in their offensive line. They signed Kevin Zeitler and JC Tretter in free agency and gave Joel Bitonio an extension. By having a stronger offensive line and running the ball more, some of the pressure should be taken off of the quarterback. Browns also have veteran, Kenny Britt, in place of Terrelle Pryor and are looking for Corey Coleman to step up. If Coleman rises to the occasion, he can be a downfield threat and Britt will be a nice complement to him. In addition to this, the first two draft picks for the Browns were used on Myles Garrett and Jabrill Peppers, both of which bring a needed athleticism to the defense. Browns will make use of their versatile players such as Ogbah, Collins, and Peppers to keep the offenses speculating. The Cleveland Browns have made noticeable improvements to their roster. Hopefully, these improvement will translate over to wins but it is clear that the Browns are playing with the future in mind. The Browns plan on keeping their quarterbacks in good health and allowing the young defensive players to grow into prominent roles. Although, this 2017 season may not be the Browns’ season, this is a good start to a promising future.

By: Jasmine Brown Since winning Super Bowl XLVII, the Baltimore Ravens have missed the playoffs three of the last four years. Ozzie Newsome, longtime general manager, is one of the league’s respected decision makers and franchise quarterback, Joe Flacco, have been with the Ravens and will be around for a few more years to come. So, the heat is on for Coach John Harbaugh to lead this team to the playoffs. These past two years have been rough; the Baltimore Ravens have had terrible injury luck and are not getting results. Although the Ravens’ have an intense defense and have one of the NFL’s best special teams’ units, the offense is not so strong. Quarterback Joe Flacco has just experienced one of the worst seasons in his career. Plus, the Ravens’ front office failed to sign or draft a top receiver to replace Steve Smith Sr. and they did very little to set an offensive line to help Flacco out. It is evident that there is a lack of chemistry between Flacco and his pass catchers, which needs to change. Therefore, the Ravens cannot solely rely on him to carry this team so Coach Harbaugh has made a commitment to running the ball more, which is not a common trend of offensive coordinator, Marty Mornhinweg. The Baltimore Ravens will definitely have a new look to them since they have up to ten new starters. However, there is a chemistry that needs to be built around this team as a whole if they want to make it to the playoffs. With New England and Pittsburgh having powerful offensive lines, I do not see the Ravens being able to keep up with them in the 2017 season. www.LouisianaGridironFootball.com 33

Diamond In The Rough: Roy Thomas Jackson III By: Jasmine Brown Franklin High School’s, Roy Thomas Jackson III like many young men shares a passion for football and aspires to play in the NFL. Located in the small town of Franklin, Louisiana, Roy brings much attention to Franklin High School’s football team. Having to overcome adversity at a young age with close family deaths, he turned to football as his constructive outlet. This young man’s drive and determination are commendable. Therefore, he never misses a game and always goes the extra mile. When asked why does he play football, Roy said he plays for his mother, his brother and his family in general. With a leveled head, he is a great asset to any team he plays for when on and off of the field. As a middle linebacker, Roy has been known to pack a powerful hit, after sending another player to the hospital with his power, he earned the nickname of “freight train”. As a junior, he had over 100 tackles, 5 sacks, 6 tackles for loss and 2 forced fumbles. Roy’s mindset going into his senior year is to give it his all, be goal driven and to constantly seek growth. After meeting Roy, I can confidently say that he will accomplish his short term goals of getting faster and gaining more sacks in this upcoming season. Roy is 6’3” and weighs 212 pounds. He bench presses 275 lbs, squats 365 lbs and deadlifts 475 lbs.

Roy was 1st team All-District in 2016 for Franklin High School. In the previous season, his athleticism and skills allowed him to be 2nd team all-district vouching for his hard work and pushing to be better. He also excels as a track and field team member, in which he placed in state this past year for throwing the shot put and the discus. Roy is 18 years old and will be entering his senior year of high school this upcoming fall. He currently maintains a 3.0 GPA and wants to go to college to get a degree in business with the ultimate goal of owning his own company someday. He said, he wishes to be his own boss. I asked what college does he want to play for, Roy said he is keeping an open mind and has no preference when it comes to what college he wants to attend. However, he wants to play for a college that has his best interest in mind and where he can steadily progress. The “freight train” does not just show up and show out on the field. Roy is a mentor to other athletes like himself and his younger brother. If you do not find Roy in the gym doing workouts on his off days, you might also find him volunteering as a firefighter. He also loves entertaining and lighting up the grill to feed his fellow teammates. “I think he is a raw version of Keke Mingo” said Andy Bryson. When I asked who is his favorite player, Roy immediately answered Ray Lewis. He said, “I like that he is relatable and that is a key when you come up like I did. He has such a dominant force about him and is very motivational. In my pregame warmups, I enjoy watching his videos and listening to him speak to get pumped up for whatever lies ahead of me.”

I normally do not promote underclassmen because I do not believe in making superstars out of high school football players. I consider myself a purist when it comes to the sport of football. When I start to look an athlete, I first want to know that he is a senior. In certain cases I do make exceptions however, when I see great talent and no other publicity about the athlete. I know from experience that if the college coaches do not know about athletes early on, then it is difficult to get scholarships to these young men. So in certain cases I do make exceptions to my own rule. U-Highs 2019 class is shaping up to be one of the best recruiting classes in recent history. University High, or as it is locally known U-High, is nestled on LSU’s beautiful campus. Last week I interviewed Donald Berniard Jr from U-High, and I feel as though he could be one of the top recruits in the 2019 class. This week I met with Doryan Harris who could be one of the top slot receivers in the same class. Doryan is 16 years old and will be starting his junior year this fall. He currently has a 3.1 GPA and says that he wants to go to college to be an Orthopedic Surgeon. Doryan caught me off guard today when he said that he wanted to play at Oregon State. He said that he is a huge fan of Brandon Cooks and as a fellow undersized receiver he models his game after. With two years of high school left, Doryan has time to still fill out. He is currently 5’8″ tall and weighs 160 lbs. With his size 13

shoe, I believe he still has room to grow. Doryan has been playing football since he was 5 years old. “He was always the best player on the feild as a kid, so I encouraged him to pursue football,” said Erin Harris, Doryan’s dad, “He was just so fast in youth ball that he always played with the older kids.”

This past year, Doryan lettered both in football and basketball. As a sophomore, Doryan was 2nd team All-District as a slot receiver. He had 520 yards receiving with 4 touchdowns, and 332 yards rushing with 6 touchdowns. Doryan also lead the team with 22 special team tackles. Doryan works with Skyler Green, former LSU national champion and NFL wide receiver, as well as Marlon Favorite, former LSU national champion and NFL super bowl champion defensive lineman. “Doryan is very versatile on the field,” said Marlon. “He does it all. He is dedicated, a quick learner, and he brings the element of making people miss. It is a pleasure to work with Doryan; he has become a quarterback favorite,” said Marlon. Doryan has attended camps at University of Louisiana, West Florida, University of Houston so far this summer. He has also participated in LSU’s 7 on 7 competition. Doryan has visited with Samford and Rice as well. Doryan said, ”I feel that I a am a great team player because I am always helping the younger guys learn the plays, and when my team mates need help in the classroom, they always come to me. When my team is down, I help motivate my team and pick them up so we can win on and off the field.”

Diamond In The Rough: Leland Jones By: Coach Andy Bryson As a defensive coach, I enjoy it when I find guys who know how skills. to turn on the “pain” in the game and just smash people in the This past season, Lemouth. Lets be honest here, your not trying out for the church land started on dechoir, so the nice guy does finish last in football. I had Leland fense as a sophomore Jones in my office and he just has it. He is a gentleman in and tallied 57 tackles, around people, but during the 60 min game we all love, he is a 5 tackles for a loss, 3 monster. Just watch his highlight film of his sophomore season sacks, and 2 blocked below. passes. Since school Leland is only 16 years old and going into his Junior year. Diamond in the Rough: Donald Berniard JR By: Coach Andy Bryson The game of football is sometimes a mystery. You can never know why things are a certain way or why some players are over looked at times. Why are some kids signed to big schools and better kids are forgotten about. Today, I interviewed probably the best recruit for the 2019 class. Donald “Biscuit” Berniard Jr is only 15 and is already a man amongst boys. A friend of mine forwarded his film to me and after watching it, I thought that it was a joke. Why would my friend want me to help a kid that was obviously getting national attention. But when Ben told me that Biscuit had only one offer from Jackson State, and FCS school, I was appalled. So my next question was, what did he do? Was this kid a trouble maker or something? Ben told me no, that Donald was a great kid and a model citizen. He did, however, tell me that the film I had just watched was film of him when he was only 14 and a Sophomore. That’s right the following film is of Donald’s Sophomore season where he had 87 tackles, 2 blocked field goals, 3 sacks, 10 QB hurries, and 2 forced fumbles. I spoke to Marlon Favorite, former Super Bowl Champion (Saints) and National Champions (LSU) defensive lineman, about Donald and he said that he has been working with him for three years. “His biggest asset is his strength,” said Marlon “He is very disruptive in the middle of the line. His hands are way past advanced, because he performs on an All-State level.” Marlon stated that Donald reminds him of his former team mate, Charles Alexander. Donald is 6’1” and weighs 280 pounds. He just set the new school record formally held by LSU lineman, Garrett Brumfeild, in the bench press with 410 LBS. Donald also squats 500 lbs. With all that strength, one would assume that he could be fast, well he runs a 4.89 forty yard dash. Donald was 1st team All-District in 2016 for U-High in Baton Rouge. He is also listed as the Top Rising Defensive Lineman in Louisiana for 2019. Donald has attended camps at LSU, Southern, University of Houston, Nicholls State, Louisiana College, Mississippi Gulf Coast, Southeastern, and University of Louisiana. He will be attending Tulane, West Florida, and Samford’s camps still this summer. “Biscuit will be a household name after this fall,” said Marlon. “He is such a joy to watch on the field.”

Donald currently has a 3.45 GPA. He said that he someday wishes to be a Judge. I asked if there was any college that he wanted to play at and he stated that he really didn’t care. He wishes that he could attend LSU or Tulane but since they have yet to call he will play anywhere. Donald said that his goals for this year is to make more sacks then last year, make All-State team, win a State Championship, and become a better leader. When asked what was his biggest accomplishment, he stated, “my biggest accomplishment is that I got to start on the varsity team last year. I felt that I was under rated, but when I was asked to start, I did not want to let my coaches and team down.” “I feel that I am a leader on and off the team. I am a reliable guy. When my team mates need help in class, they always come to me for help.” “I am looking forward to playing Catholic, Mandeville, and Southern Lab this year,” said Donald. Each of those programs have great offensive lines, and he wants to see for himself how good he really is. Donald’s dad accompanied him to my office today. His dad Donald “Coach Que” Berniard SR, has coached for 20-25 years here in the Baton Rouge area. Everything from youth ball to high school. Some of his most notable players are Darius Guice (LSU running back), Dylan Moses (Alabama linebacker), and Lavar Edwards (LSU/Carolina Panthers defensive end). Coach Que said, “If you don’t double team him (Donald JR), you cannot stop him.” ‘My son, when at home, watches a lot of film.” I asked who is his favorite player and he was the first guy to ever answer me with three different names. He said, “I like Grady Gerrard from the Falcons (2.5 sacks in the Super Bowl) because he has very violent hands. I like Dalen Mack from Texas A&M because of his explosiveness. I also Like Vince Wilfork because he plays with a high motor for such a big guy. I also want to model myself like Vince.”
