Local Agenda While Cape Cod is well known for the bustling summer season, the rest of the year has a lot to offer as well. Each season – summer, spring, fall and winter – has its own vibe, as well as activities and happenings that make the Cape special year round. Make sure you save the date for a few signature events that happen across the region.
SPRING
SUMMER
Spring is a time when the Cape starts to come back to life after the gray days of winter. The snow melts, flowers start to bloom, and we can see the beaches, marshes, and woods again. The feeling of anticipation for the upcoming summer season creates a palpable buzz and seasonal businesses take the shutters off their doors and reopen for the season, and new shops and restaurants begin to open up.
There is truly nothing better than summer on Cape Cod. Out-of-town visitors and almost daily gettogethers make for an extremely busy time for locals, but the sunshine, beach time and sunset sails provide the energy to make it all happen - lobster roll cruises, dunes tours in Provincetown, kayak tours, outdoor concerts, and LoveLocal Fests.
Spring is also the time when the locals try and enjoy the activities there isn’t time for during the peak of summer like whale watches, golfing, and enjoying drinks at outdoor bars on surprising sunny and warm days.
This is the time to enjoy sipping a local drink overlooking one of our many harbors, while soaking up the sunshine, and spending carefree moments with friends. These are the moments that make living here so incredibly special.

CAPEMADE FIELD GUIDE 2018
FALL
WINTER
The autumn months are often referred to as “the locals’ summer,” as the weather is still warm, and there’s time to take long walks on the beach (with doggies!), ride on the less crowded bike paths, and enjoy seasonal hot spots that stay open into the fall.
Just like everywhere else with four seasons, Cape Codders like to hibernate in the winter, but it does not mean the entire peninsula shuts down in the colder months.
It’s also the time when Cape Cod’s signature crop – the cranberry – is harvested and the landscape is dotted with vibrant shades of red.
There is still plenty of entertainment - theater performances, live music and art shows - and at the end of a cold day, it is not hard to find a cozy fireplace in a restaurant to sit by while sipping a cocktail or tea.
It is a perfect time to take a day trip to one of the towns on the Cape - using this guide of course!
Throughout December, holiday strolls abound in almost every village and town, and local shops and restaurants host festive events.

Shop Local I
t’s official! LoveLiveLocal has opened our very own retail location that has a highly curated selection of products from local makers and artisans that you have come to know and love from our LoveLocal Fests and through reading about them over the years on our website and in the CapeMade Field Guide. What’s more, we have moved into the space at 539 South Street in Hyannis with the already established Little Beach Gallery (art gallery featuring local artists) and have been joined by other fierce female owned businesses Shift Eco Boutique (eco and ethical clothing, home goods and baby goods) and Devinto (local women’s clothing brand) forming a true collective of a local artist, a local boutique, a local fashion designer, and us, champions of local producers. We are joining a new trend that has popped up all over the country, where multiple related businesses share a space in order to reduce their costs, while also creating a unique and meaningful experience for the customer - retail’s take on the cooperative economy. Oh, and did we mention, you can also walk through a door to The Local Juice, a cold pressed juice bar that also serves healthy eats and treats for breakfast, lunch and pre-prepared dinners?! Our aim is to create a collaborative and community oriented space - a local experience where someone can come for local art, locally made products, shopping local, eating local food, and mingling with the local community. This space will truly embody the spirit of LoveLiveLocal, and we want it to be dynamic and welcoming so that shoppers and sippers will want to come back again and again.

CAPEMADE FIELD GUIDE 2018
Giving Back I
n 2016 we launched our Project Cape Made initiative where we raise money through sales of an apparel line that we sell at our festivals and on our website (squareup. com/store/lovelivelocal) in order to bring awareness and micro-investments to local entrepreneurs.
The Project Cape Made grant will be used to help us market our brand in the way of newsletters, more advertising and better brand recognition. - Heather Swett
Independent makers, growers and business owners are essential to preserving Cape Cod’s unique cultural fabric and independent spirit, and our intention is to raise enough money to award two $500 grants a year. In 2017 we awarded two grants: one to Aiste Zitnikaite of Devinto and one to Cookie Hebert of Cook’s Organics. This year we are fortunate enough to have partnered with The Cooperative Bank of Cape Cod shares our commitment to supporting and advancing local businesses to award four grants instead of two – two in the spring and two in the fall. Our spring 2018 awardees are Cape Cod Home Remedies and Washershore. Cape Cod Home Remedies was founded Sabrina Ewing and Heather Swett and is a line of pure, simple and organic body care products that are both wholesome and effective from soaps and bath bombs, to hand sanitizer and deodorant. Washershore pendants are crafted from stainless steel washers that are made unique and personal with images, logos, and sayings placed over the washer with pattern paper by co-creators Lindsay Holt and Jenn Nickerson.
Heather Swett + Sabrina Ewing of Cape Cod Home Remedies
Thank you to … lovelivelocal who continuously promotes small Cape made businesses, owners and our economy. Keep on keeping on because the Cape will be a far better place than before you started. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. - Lindsay Holt
