EXPLORING THE MID CAPE
YARMOUTH is centrally located on Cape Cod and has an abundance of attractions that suit the whole family.
Get your morning grub at the Keltic Kitchen, Ann & Fran’s, Englewood Baking Co., Old King’s Coffeehouse, Bagels & Beyond, or Woolfies. For casual midday eats, try a thin slice at F&L Pizza, clam chowder at Captain Parker’s, or wraps with a kick at The Jerk Cafe. For must-haves with a past, browse Cape Abilities Thrift, Wilma’s Eclectic Finds, and the Antiques Center of Yarmouth.
When you're ready for some outdoor time, grab a suit at Chelsea’s Swimwear and visit Gray’s Beach, Seagull Beach, or Bass River Beach for a dip. For mini golf, putter over to Wild Animal Lagoon, Pirate’s Cove and Skull Island (which also has go-karts and an arcade), or wear the littles out with a full day at the Cape Cod Inflatable Park.
For a glimpse into the Cape’s pirate past, head to the Whydah Pirate Museum or check the schedule at the Cultural Center of Cape Cod for art exhibits, performances and community events.
Refuel at dinner time with beef noodle soup at Pho Thuan Loi (seasonal) or the heavenly Tom Kha at Basil Thai Cuisine, both take out only. For seated service, find yourself at Gerardi’s Cafe, DiParma Italian Table, 908 Bistro, the Yarmouth House, or Scally’s, then have a cocktail and check out the local talent at The Music Room
Yarmouth Port has its own vibe. Score breakfast at Jack’s Outback (go early), or Lighthouse Keeper’s Pantry for egg sandwiches and small-batch foods. For lunch or dinner, dine at Royal II (enjoy a complimentary slice of pizza while you wait), the Old Yarmouth Inn (est. 1696), or Inaho for top notch Japanese. Shop ‘til you drop at Harvest of Barnstable, Simply Vintage, Design Works, Just Picked Gifts, and the locally loved Parnassus Books. Peruse picnic provisions and unique wines at Dunn & Sons. Take a break from shopping and explore the history of Yarmouth at the Edward Gorey Museum, or Thacher Hall for a performance or event.
DENNIS has much to explore from Main St. on the north side to the south side village of Dennisport.
Follow 6A through the heart of Dennis to find adorable shops, tried and true eateries and some of the Cape’s best beaches. Grab a coffee at Underground Bakery or the Village Coffee Shop before engaging in retail therapy at Elburne, Surge, Salt Yarn Studio, Seaside Design Studio, Linda Burke, Ross Coppelman and Littlenecks for the kiddos. Take a much needed break for beverages sustenance at Scargo Cafe or Chapin’s Bayside or hit The Mercantile and Dennis Public Market to stock up and chow down. Don’t forget produce and fresh flowers at Cape Abilities Farm
Nestled just off Main Street, you can find the Cape Cod Museum of Art and Cape Cinema - a historic theater that shows independent films and hosts community events. Not to be missed in the area is Harvest Gallery, a great spot for wine, mocktails and local music. Dinner destinations like The Pheasant and Fin are sure to please. Top it off with a cone from The Ice Cream Smuggler or a pre-ordered sweet treat from the Corner of Yum
For a relaxing afternoon, visit West Dennis Beach, Corporation Beach, Nobscussett Beach or Mayflower Beach to watch the sunset. Crowes Pasture Conservation Area and Scargo Beach are both great options for nature lovers.
Enjoy a Kolsch at Devil’s Purse Brewing on your way south to Dennisport. For tummy grumbles, stop at Capt. Baker Donut Shop, Three Fin’s Coffee Roasters, Holly’s Deli, Buckies Biscotti, Good Friends Cafe, The Dog House or La Tacodilla (don’t miss the Lune tasting menu pop-ups). If you’re feeling adventurous, rent a kayak or paddleboard from Bass River Kayaks and Paddle Boards or Cape Cod Waterways Boat Rentals on Swan River. Treat yourself to a tasty libation at Cleat and Anchor, Southside Cantina, Chapin’s Fish & Chips Beach Bar, or Clancy’s. Shop to your heart’s delight at Fresh Interiors, Mermaids on Cape Cod, LeBelle’s General Store, and Matt’s Organic Gardens for all things fresh and seasonal.
