Welcome! It’s time for a Summer Power Hour! What’s a Power Hour? It’s a 60-minute session of intense focus on your business… no distractions!! Turn off your phone, close Facebook, and put a “Do Not Disturb” sign on the door! (See last page!) .
Pour yourself a glass of something delicious (paper umbrella optional) and grab your favorite pen! We’re about to plan the BEST Summer Book Adventure yet! .
In the summer, parties tend to slow down, but your business doesn’t have to! (And just because statistically parties slow down in the “J” months, it’s not always the case! I had my best party ever in June!) Summer is a great time to try new things for your business! .
For some of you, your kids being out of school will mean you have less time to devote to your business. For others, perhaps the break from our homeschool year will mean you have MORE time! Whatever the case, your business will be more successful if you make a plan for what you hope to accomplish!

Envision Your Summer What are your goals for summer 2018 when it comes to your business? Do you want to do six parties a month? Run a Book Drive or Cards for a Cause? Offer Summer Book Boxes to your VIPs? Hit HOC I each month? Whatever your goals, make sure they are SMART! Set Business Hours One of the best things you can do for your productivity in your business is to set business hours for yourself! Find a schedule that works for you, and then keep a running to-do list of the things you need to get done during business hours! Your list might look something like this: Close out Sarah’s party Start hostess coaching Tasha Order mini books and bookmarks
Set up VIP group mystery hostess party Having a to-do list will keep you on task and help you know exactly what you need to do when you start working! Plus, it will keep you from mindlessly scrolling through THRIVE Product Knowledge without a purpose! (Or is that just me?!) Use the template on the next page to set your own business hours for the summer! Remember to include the times when you can do parties, and of course make time for REST!

Choose Your Own Book Adventure EVENTS, PARTIES, & MORE!
There are SO many fun things you could do with your business this summer! What will you choose? Check all the ones you want to try! (More info on the next pages about each one!) Summer Book Boxes/Bundles What it is: Special book bundles that you offer your past customers, VIPs, and friends. How to make it happen: Decide on a price point for your bundles (like $50 for June, July, August) and then start sending out messages asking if people want to purchase a subscription! More info in Book Babes by searching #bookboxes! Chalk in the Park What it is: An event in your neighborhood/community How to make it happen: Set up a table with a few art and step-by-step drawing books, then bring lots of chalk for kids to use to draw and color on the sidewalk, driveway, or parking lot! Search Book Babes for #ChalkInThePark. Cookies and Coloring What it is: An event for kids and their parents to color & eat cookies How to make it happen: Invite your friends and their kids, purchase coloring books ahead of time (or take orders), and charge a flat fee to cover the coloring book and snack! Color Between the Wines What it is: An adult-only event designed for relaxation How to make it happen: Invite friends (even friends without kids) to join you for an evening of relaxing with coloring and wine! Set cost to cover the coloring book and colored pencils, plus venue fee (if applicable). For more info on how to run this event and see a Facebook party component, look up the *MOCK* Color Between the Wines event in UBAM Script Share group. Mommy and Me Playdate What it is: A playdate centered around a UBAM book or theme How to make it happen: Pick a fun theme (see UBAM Activity Pairings group for TONS of ideas), choose some activities (snacks, crafts, etc.), and don’t forget to set out all the UBAM books you have on that topic!
Summer Reading Challenge What it is: A way to incentivize kids to read in the summer time How to make it happen: Pick a time frame and create packets to send out to your participants, then sit back while they collect pledges and READ lots of books (then they'll get to pick out books at the end)! Learn more by searching #SummerReadingChallenge in Book Babes. VIP Group 5 Day Series What it is: A theme week for your VIP group How to make it happen: Check out the 5 Day Series templates already loaded into Vizzlie in the Book Babes team page, OR ask to be added to a Facebook group that shares ideas and templates! Book Baby Shower What it is: A way to shower mama and baby with books How to make it happen: Use the party template loaded into Vizzlie in the Book Babes team page, and help a mama you know build a library for her baby-to-be! Local Vendor Event What it is: A booth or table at an event in your community How to make it happen: Look around for events happening in your community, such as festivals, fundraisers, family fun days, markets, etc., then sign up for one! Follow booth protocol as outlined in our Teachable course Part 6: Going Beyond Parties - Vendor/Booth Event Cards for a Cause Fundraiser What it is: A fundraising opportunity for ANYONE How to make it happen: Find a cause that is looking to raise funds, and send them an info packet! More info in Book Babes (search #CFAC). VIP Group Inventory Sale What it is: A way to sell off some extra books you have How to make it happen: Pick a date and then talk it up! You can sell books LIVE or in photo albums. Collect payments via Square/PayPal.
Mystery Hostess Party What it is: A party where one attendee wins all the hostess rewards How to make it happen: Pick a date for the party, then chat it up in your VIP group! The more people who attend, the better! Find a FRIENDSthemed template in Vizzlie or ask your sponsor/TL for another option. Home Show What it is: Like a Facebook party, but you have to wear real clothes How to make it happen: Host it yourself, or ask a friend to host! Bring lots of books to show, take orders that night, and don’t forget to play lots of fun games and eat good snacks! New Releases Leave Your Wallet at Home (or in Your Purse) Party What it is: A party showing new releases & designed to get bookings How to make it happen: Pick a date for the party after the new releases come out (in June, after convention) and then personally invite all your VIPs! Show off all the new releases and then ask them to book parties and earn these amazing new titles for free! See sample party in our Vizzlie team. Good Morning Books Party What it is: A home show, but with breakfast food How to make it happen: Pick a date, then invite your friends to your house for mimosas and muffins, and show them the amazing books! Book Drive What it is: A way to raise books for a cause you care about How to make it happen: Pick a cause, then message friends and family members asking them to give $25-50 towards the book drive. At the end, put in the order as a Book Fair (as long as it’s over $250) and UBAM will match donations 50%, so you can pick out even MORE free books for the cause you care about! Ramp Up Your VIP Group Don't forget to share the love with your VIP Group this summer! These are your people, and your time invested in them over the summer will reap benefits in the fall when it is time for fall book parties and Christmas book shopping! If you don't have a VIP Group yet, now is the perfect time to start! Definitely bring the FUN to your VIP Group this summer, with funny memes, personal photos and stories, unique theme parties, and more! Make your VIP Group a fun place to be! And giveaways!! Your VIPs will love the chance to win books! Even a few wipe-clean cards can be a hit! And new releases make REALLY fun giveaways. Make your VIPs feel spoiled by you, their favorite book lady!
Share the Biz The summer is a great time to chat with friends, customers, and past hostesses about joining the business! Start up a conversation with them about life in general, summer plans, etc. then float the idea of becoming a consultant! Here’s an idea of what to say: “Hey Gina! Loved seeing your kids’ last day of school photos! Sooo cute! Do you all have any fun plans for the summer? … That sounds so fun! I also wanted to chat with you again about the business of Usborne Books & More! I know when we talked in the spring you were swamped with baseball season and dance recitals! But I thought now that summer is here maybe you’d want to give it a go! Like I said, there are no minimums or quotas to meet, so you can work on your business as much or as little as you want. Plus, starting now would mean your business would be off the ground by the time the busy fall selling season gets here! This would be a great opportunity for you to earn some extra money for family vacations, Christmas gifts, etc.! What do you think? Would you like me to send you a photo of the current kits?”
