Keeping your eyes healthy
Vision & Eye Health with Nicole Stimson from Eyecare Plus Nundah

During this time of public health concern induced by COVID-19, it is important to remember some healthy tips regarding your eyes, in relation to wearing contact lenses.
Common causes of contact lens-related infections include:
• Not replacing your contact lenses when you ought to – wearing a 'dirty' contact lens significantly increases your chance of infection.
• Overwearing your contact lenses – if you are at home, now is a good time to give your eyes a break and let your eyes breathe.
• If you are sick with a cold or flu or feeling unwell, stay well clear of your contact lenses. You do not want to transfer anything to your eyes.
• Always wash your hands thoroughly when handling your contact lenses.

The Australian Government's COVID-19 Stimulus Package
Business with Brittany Morgan from DFK Hirn Newey
The Australian Government has released a Stimulus Package to support certain businesses and individuals due to the impact of COVID-19.
The business measures are designed to support certain small businesses with ongoing cashflow assistance and the ongoing employment of staff.
The individual measures are also designed to stimulate the economy by delivering a one off tax-free payment of $750 for those who receive income support (such as social security benefits).
The ATO will also implement a series of administrative measures to assist Australians experiencing financial difficulty as a result of Coronavirus.
If you have any questions on how this impacts you, please contact the DFK Hirn Newey Office via phone on 3266 1488 or email mail@dfkhn.com.au.

Working from home?
Health with Pete Ivers from The Joint Nundah
With so many people working from home, your workstation set up is more important than ever. The Joint is offering online physio consults and can advise you on how to set up your home office, discuss current guidelines on sit to stand desks and provide exercises to perform at your workstation. This advice will prevent work-posture related pain.
Tips:
• Sit-Stand-Move - regular posture changes are important
• Ergonomics 101 - getting the layout of your workstation correct is critical
• When you’re thirsty walk and fill a glass of water
• Stretch regularly
• Don’t forget your eyes – sore eyes and headaches are caused by poor lighting/glare
• Have regular breaks to move and reset your mind
Your workstation should feel comfortable to use and not leave you sore at the end of the day. Consult online with our Occupational Health Physiotherapist and make these changes while you’re at your workstation. All you need is a computer or device with a camera and a microphone!

How the Coronavirus affects you and your property
Real Estate with Jordan McLennan from Jordan McLennan Properties
Buying?
What do I need to know? Buyers who are in very secure jobs are actually in an improved position because the overall market is weaker. The Coronavirus situation will take out a group of buyers – those adopting a wait-and-see approach or those simply unable to buy due to reduced income.
But there's another group of buyers: those who are in jobs but who face uncertainty about how Coronavirus will affect their pay or whether they will keep their job at all.
Selling?
What do I need to know? You need to appreciate that your open home attendee numbers may reduce but the quality of the buyers will increase. When we identify the genuine buyer, we know they will be hungry, committed and organised with their finance. For example, on two separate occasions during this outbreak, we have presented one client with five offers for consideration and another with four offers for consideration. Both of these properties were located in Nundah.
If you are looking to buy or sell, let me help navigate you through this unique time.

The benefits of 'NEAT' exercise
Health & Fitness with Davina Donovan and Rob Lloyd from Fitstop Nundah
The benefits of exercise and of remaining active are widely known. With all entertainment and large gatherings cancelled, including kids sport, and many more people being asked to self-isolate, we need to remember to keep moving. The ripple effects to our health and wellbeing may be felt for many years to come.
Get your NEAT up where you can, however you can. NEAT is Non-Exercise Activity Thermogenesis or the energy you expend in non-eating, sleeping or exercising ways. For example, when you type an email, walk to the fridge or lift up your children – this is all NEAT and can contribute to longerterm health benefits, particularly if your usual activities have been canned.
Some creative ways that our members get their NEAT up:
• Dance with the kids
• Play with the dog
• Squat while cooking
• Gardening
• Walking around the house when talking on the phone
No more feet up, get your NEAT up!!
