“KL LAPIS� is an architecture platform for collaborative research on design methodologies and to develop critical understanding on urban challenges.3 Layers of element are being develop from the visit to Brickfield.

Brickfields is also tagged as a "Divine Location" as many religious structures, some over 100 years old, are concentrated in the area, particularly Jalan Berhala. We are to understand the current situation of work-ship places as a community centre. Each group are given 2 specific sacred building for case study for the next community centre proposal.

Conduct of measureddrawings on the existing building and landscape within the boundary of the given site. All existing interior space configuration need to be mapped out. The site are measure to reproduce a site plan based on the bearing plans and the record of the current state of the site,finalize with CAD.

Proposal

Due to the pollutant in the monsoon drain that may affect the future planning of the urban planning. In conjunction of the main project, several river purification idea are being propose to maintain a more sustainable yet healthy eco-system.

EPISTEMOLOGICAL & PEDAGOGICAL

Religion Communal Hub The Catalyst

The project fosters idea sacred spaces where the “epistemological and pedagogical interfaces with the cultural and theological.� Intention is to break the current notion of how religious spaces serve user, rather should it perform as a sacred space, nurturing the rich cultural diversity and racial unity amongst the locals as an urban synthesizer.

Located in Site 3, being catalyst for 4 main program: A r t & C u l t u r e , C h u r c h , Re c y c l e a n d U r b a n Fa r m i n g . Consideration of younger generation and senior citizen,also response to the dereliction of site surrounding. The program are reorganize throughout the site,becoming learning material in each area of the planning aiding local society in having a more self sustainable environment. 3 R Fa c i l i t i e s h e l p d e v e l o p t h e i r i d e a i n 3 R fi e l d t o h e l p t h e m p r o d u c e p r o d u c t f o r daily lives. Building also act as community centre during after school session for academic students of the area. Urban farming feature at the pavillion and side facade of the wall. The building feature de stij color scheme and white. . White being used mostly on heightening and provide a more “holy”/”quieter ” spaces , eg: the church using white along with the design intention to form a space that have their own i d e n t i t y. C o m b i n i n g w i t h d e s i g n i n t e n t i o n o f a l l u d i n g space, space that connect indirectly through a media. In this design the media is being connected with vegetation or open space.

Intention

It display the communication between space without directly approach. Reduce the usage of direct barrier and utilize more indirect barrier. Providing a sense of enlargement of space as well as unify outdoor and indoor space Characteristic: - Openness of space - Linkage between Nature & Architecture - Usage of semitransparent barrier in dividing space

Intention

Inspired by the Church , where the environment itself shown Genius Loci, the spirit of the place. The spaces in the church have a very distinctive way to distinguish from others. Being Combine with few element such as light, hardscape and color drawn a area where people approach it, will feel serenade. Design Intention strongly manifest the studies and application that need to show the space into the building.
