EUROPE

The Grieg Academy, Bergen, Norway Study music performance at a European conservatory located in the city of Bergen on Norway’s southwestern coast. Requirements: Jazz performance and classical performance students only. * Technische Universität Dortmund, Dortmund, Germany Study German language and take academic classes in English or in German with adequate language skills at a respected research university situated in the city of Dortmund in western Germany. Internships available. Requirements: Two semesters of college-level German (or equivalent); minimum 2.75 GPA. Available for spring or full year only. * École Supérieure du Commerce Extérieur (ESCE), Paris, France Take challenging courses

taught in English and French at an international business school located just a stone’s throw from the Eiffel Tower. Requirements: Two semesters of college-level French (or equivalent); minimum 2.75 GPA; only open to students enrolled in the Joseph A. Butt, S.J., College of Business. * Mission Interuniversitaire de Coordination des Échanges Franco-Américains (MICEFA), Paris, France A consortium of 16 universities in Paris and the surrounding area. Study at a French university alongside local students, and take academic courses taught at MICEFA in English or French. Requirements: Four semesters of collegelevel French (or equivalent proficiency); minimum 2.5 GPA. * Universitta Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Milan, Italy Europe’s largest Catholic university located in Milan, the Italian center of business, banking, and fashion. Study Italian, and take academic classes in English with international students or in Italian if you have adequate language skills. Requirements: Two semesters of Italian (or equivalent) recommended.

* Radboud University, Nijmegen, The Netherlands A Catholic university located in Nijmegen, a small historic city in the southeastern part of the Netherlands, with a strong network of international students and over 200 courses in English. * Universiteit van Amsterdam (UvA), Amsterdam, The Netherlands Take interdisciplinary courses taught in English with other international students at a prestigious research university located in Amsterdam. * Universidad Pontificia Comillas-ICADE, Madrid, Spain Study business, Spanish language and culture, or humanities taught in both English and Spanish at a Jesuit university in the political and economic heart of Spain. Requirements: Four semesters of Spanish (or equivalent); minimum 2.75 GPA. Escuela Superior de Administración y Dirección de Empresas (ESADE), Barcelona, Spain Take business classes taught in English and Spanish at a top 10 European business school located in Barcelona. Internships available. A free two-week Spanish language pre-session is offered. Requirements: Two semesters of Spanish (or equivalent); only open to students enrolled in the Joseph A. Butt, S.J., College of Business. * Koc University, Istanbul, Turkey Enroll alongside Turkish students to take classes taught in English on business, social sciences, humanities, and even the sciences. Requirements: Minimum 2.75 GPA.


UNITED KINGDOM

The University of Birmingham, Birmingham, United Kingdom A research university with exceptional music and theater programs located in Birmingham, one of the youngest and most diverse cities in the U.K. Courses are available for all disciplines. * The University of East Anglia (UEA), Norwich, England With strong programs in creative writing, international development, environmental sciences, and law, UEA is located in the small, historic city of Norwich, which is designated as a UNESCO City of Literature. Courses are available for all disciplines. * Maynooth University, Maynooth, Ireland Ireland’s second oldest university, located in a historic and charming college town about 45 minutes by train from Dublin, Maynooth offers a Celtic studies program you’ll find only in Ireland.

ASIA

* Sogang University, Seoul, South Korea A Jesuit university in the heart of downtown Seoul offering over 30 percent of classes in English alongside Korean and international students, internships in STEM fields, an AACSBaccredited business program; Korean language courses; and service learning opportunities. No Korean language experience is required. * Sophia University, Tokyo, Japan Enroll alongside Japanese students to take classes taught in English on business, liberal arts, and science at a Jesuit institution in the bustling, historic, and modern capital of Japan. Requirements: Two semesters of Japanese language (or equivalent) is recommended. Available for spring or full year only. * The Beijing Center, Beijing, China Administered by Loyola University Chicago, this Jesuit program combines intensive courses taught in English and Chinese, opportunities for immersion, and academic excursions across the country, such as the Silk Road, for a well-rounded understanding of China. Sophomores can apply. No previous Chinese language is required.

OCEANIA

* Massey University, Auckland, Palmerston North, and Wellington, New Zealand Massey is one of New Zealand’s largest universities with three campuses across the North Island offering courses in a broad range of fields including humanities and social sciences; communications; visual arts; graphic design; popular and commercial music; and unique courses on New Zealand’s culture, history, and environment. Australian Catholic University (ACU), Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane, Australia ACU is a publicly funded Catholic institution offering Loyola students the opportunity to study courses in a broad range of fields at their choice of campuses in the cities of Sydney, Melbourne, and Brisbane.

LATIN AMERICA

Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador (PUCE), Quito, Ecuador At this Jesuit university located in the Ecuadorian capital of Quito, students can study Spanish and take a variety of academic classes in English or in Spanish with adequate language skills. This program includes homestays, group trips to the Amazon and the Galapagos, and opportunities to participate in biology courses and lab assistantships in English. Requirements: Two semesters Spanish (or equivalent) for English program; five semesters of Spanish (or equivalent) to take academic courses taught in Spanish; minimum 2.75 GPA. Spring semester only. Universidad del Salvador, Buenos Aires, Argentina Study Spanish, and choose from a variety of academic classes in English or in Spanish with adequate language skills at this prestigious school in the heart of Buenos Aires. Requirements: Two semesters Spanish (or equivalent) for English program; four semesters of Spanish (or equivalent) to take academic courses taught in Spanish; minimum 2.75 GPA. * Pontificía Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil A Jesuit university in the second largest Brazilian city offering Portuguese language classes and courses taught in English on politics, culture, and business. Requirements: Advanced Spanish language skills or at least one year of Portuguese (or equivalent).

* These universities also offer summer programs. Note that summer programs typically do not count as exchange, so students will pay program tuition. If students have any financial aid or scholarships for use in the summer, then it can be used for these programs.


Other OPTIONS LOYOLA FACULTY-LED SHORT-TERM ABROAD:

Three-to-four-week programs offering Loyola credit courses related to the study abroad site that generally apply to electives or common curriculum of all majors. Requirements: minimum Sophomore standing. No language requirements. ISEP EXCHANGE AND DIRECT PROGRAMS: International Student Exchange Programs (ISEP) is a consortium of more than 150 institutions in more than 50 countries that provides Loyola students with expanded exchange opportunities. Students must be flexible in placement and can list multiple institutions on their applications. Primarily used for semester options, ISEP also has many affordable summer options.
