COLLEGE OF BUSINESS

PROGRAMS AND SERVICES Programs and services offered by the College of Business will leave you AWAKENED, ENLIGHTENED, and TRANSFORMED. Business Portfolio Program—Creating Learning Portfolios for Success The Business Portfolio Program is a student-centered professional development program that helps students identify personal strengths and career interests. The series of eight required courses gives students the necessary career development skills and resources to successfully compete in the job market while also helping them to transition to the workplace. Starting in their first year, students focus on exploring various industries and possible career opportunities with business professionals through the program’s Executive Mentor Program. Throughout the four years, students will receive one-on-one individualized career counseling on resumes, cover letters, interviewing, and internships. Seniors are eligible to participate in the Portfolio Executive Network where they will be matched with a business professional in their particular area of interest who will coach them through their job search. Student-managed Investment Fund/Carlos Ayala Stock Trading Room With funds from the estate of Mr. Carlos Ayala ’57, the student-managed investment fund taught by Dr. Ron Christner now has $1 million in its securities portfolio. The investment class provides students with the opportunity to sharpen and apply their critical thinking skills to real-world investment experience. Also as a result of Mr. Ayala’s generous bequest, College of Business finance students will have access to a state-of-the-art stock trading room, currently under construction in Miller Hall. The new trading room will open fall 2012 and will include the Rathe Computer Lab, available to all College of Business students. Study Abroad The College of Business offers three outstanding study abroad programs: Europe and China in the summer, and South America in the winter. Each allows students to explore international business culture by engaging with business leaders in foreign markets. Many other study abroad opportunities are available through Loyola’s Center for International Studies. Center for Spiritual Capital The Center for Spiritual Capital is a research, education, and outreach organization that works with business scholars, policy experts, and leaders to connect academic learning and real-world experience. The center promotes the search for new ethical norms in economic relationships through exploration of issues of spiritual capital. MBA Program Loyola’s MBA program inspires leaders who employ the value-creation model of business through systems thinking, critical analysis, effective business practices, and responsible actions with a global perspective. The program emphasizes three key elements: business ethics, leadership, and entrepreneurship. The program allows for both full- and part-time enrollment.
