January Notes Paula McGrath‐Diouf ’87 is currently teaching in London and even has a fellow Loyola alum in her class! She has also recently published a book called The State of Grace: A Mother’s Plea for Life Balance. On Sunday, November 2, 2014, many members of the Loyola community ran in the New York City Marathon. Andy Donacik, Kristin Ross, Joe Tiernan ‘94, Mary Kate Burke ‘01, Dan Miller P’16, Chris Beha ‘97, and Monica McEnrue ‘03 joined the almost 50,000 runners in the bitter wind and cold to complete the marathon. Jamie Schombs, Loyola’s Librarian, ran the Baltimore marathon in October 2014. Kristina Chan ’00 left for Jamaica on November 15, 2014, to volunteer at an orphanage and help to build houses. This is a dream come true for Kristina and is something she has wanted to do for a long time. Andrew Leone ’13, who is in the middle of his second year playing basketball for Fairfield University’s Stags, played against Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium. Daniel Reardon ’64 will be performing in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” at the Abbey Theatre in Dublin, Ireland. The play runs from February 11 – March 28, 2015. John Catsimatidis ’11 was on Hannity on Fox News on January 14, 2015, giving his opinion on President Obama’s new education plan. Births Stephanie Leach '03 and her husband, Kevin, gave birth to Ryan William and Conor Francis on August 16, 2014. Francis Tolan ’05, and his wife, Kerry, are expecting their first child. Megan Tubridy Moore ’03 and her husband, MacLean, welcomed their first son, MacLean Tubridy Moore, on November 20, 2014. Conor Lowry ‘99 and his wife, Tara, welcomed their fourth child, Gerard Ignatius Lowry, on December 3, 2014. Torie Hajdu Abramson ’04 and her husband, Andy, welcomed their son, Harry, on October 9, 2014. Dan and Lidia Tramontozzi welcomed their newest grandchild on January 14, 2015. Their daughter, Vanessa, gave birth to a Cara Lucia Coppa and both mother and baby are doing great! Deaths Mary Pomer O’Donnell, sister of Bobby Pomer, Loyola’s former college counselor, passed away in October 2014. Catherine Theresa Quigley, grandmother of Edwin Lescop ’98, Kelsey Lescop ’06, and Alexandria Nicklin ’02 passed away in November 2014. Nicholas (Nick) Katsouros, father of Steve Katsouros, S.J., passed away on November 11, 2014. Harvey Connell, ex‐Class of ’57 passed away. Harvey attended Loyola for three years, two years in the Junior School and one year as a Fourth Senior (as Freshmen were called in those days) before transferring to The Hebron Academy in Maine. Fortunately, Harvey joined five of his former classmates from Loyola at Holy Cross, graduating in the Class of 1961. He kept in touch over the years with many of his former classmates at Loyola and with the late Father Ambrose. He will be remembered for his sharp intellect and sardonic wit. He is survived by his wife of thirty years, Augun. Requiescat in pace. Laurence Costiglio, grandparent of Beth Shanley ’97, Mark ’94 and Paul ’91 Costiglio passed away on November 25, 2014.
