Mikey & Ariella Skoczylas
Mikey and Ariella Skoczylas have been community leaders and active in Yeshivat Akiva’s growth since returning to Michigan in 2009. Their passion for the Jewish community and strong idealistic values have been guiding forces in their involvement in community boards, youth groups, shuls, our school and the Detroit Jewish community at large. Their passion has inspired many to be involved in the growth and development of our wonderful community.
Mikey graduated from Yeshivat Akiva in 2002. He attended Yeshivat Sha’arei Mevaseret Tzion for his gap year in Israel, followed by Yeshiva University’s Sy Syms School of Business where he received a degree in Finance and Accounting. After several years in the work force, Mikey and Ariella moved back to Michigan with Mikey attending Wayne State University Law School. He currently works as an attorney at Jaffe, Raitt, Heuer & Weiss. Mikey has served on the board of Farber Hebrew Day School for the past five years, and currently serves as a Vice President on its executive board. Mikey has also served as a board member for Hillel of Metro Detroit- the Foundation for Campus Life, and serves on the Central East NCSY Youth Commission. Mikey is also active in Federation and Young Israel of Southfield.

Upon completion of Yeshivat Akiva, Ariella spent her gap year at Midreshet Harova. She continued her educational career attending Yeshiva University’s Sy Syms School of Business followed by receiving a Masters in Education from Madonna University. Ariella is a staple at Farber Hebrew Day School, not only as a parent, but as one of our esteemed Judaic Studies staff members. She shares her passion for Torah by imparting her knowledge to our students on a daily basis. She also leads a weekly online shiur for women in the community.
Ariella and Mikey are individuals who live by a strong code of ethics. That character, coupled with their passion for Jewish education and emphasis on community values, has aided them in becoming role models to many, including their four children: Aron (2 nd Grade), J (1 st Grade), Abie (Nursery 2) and Goldie (18 months). They are proud to support Farber Hebrew Day School and the vital role it serves as a model of Jewish educational excellence, chesed, and Zionism throughout the Detroit Jewish community. Ariella and Mikey plan to make Aliyah with their four children this summer, taking the lessons imparted to them from their alma mater.
