Ben Small is a graphic artist living in Cleveland, Ohio with his wife, Beth, and cat, Earl Grey.
Betsy Allen is a writer, editor, and teacher living in Alexandria, Virginia, with her husband, Hal, and their sweet dog, Shea.
Ben and Betsy are brother and sister who work on projects together once in a while and share an abiding love of Halloween.
In 2023, they lost one of their beloved siblings, Laurie, an actress, musician, and teacher. This book is dedicated to her and her affinity for good books and spooky legends.
The idea for this story started years ago when Ben was walking in the village of Bratenahl with Beth and imagined a little wood hag named Mary Sticks watching them from up in the trees.
We quote from Prometheus Unbound by Percy Bysshe Shelley, 1820; and the song, “Firecracker” by Frazey Ford, 2010.
