conductor
A native of Lucerne, Switzerland, Ludwig Wicki grew up in a musical environment influenced by church and folk music. He studied trombone and became a member of the Lucerne Symphony Orchestra, eventually expanding his studies to include orchestral and choral conducting. Wicki continued his education in Dresden with Martin Flämig and Pescara with Donato Renzetti. As a trombonist, Wicki founded the Lucerne Philharmonic Brass Quintet, performed with the Empire Brass Quintet at Tanglewood, and frequently appeared with period instrument ensembles, collaborating with such conductors as Andrew Parrott, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Jeremy West, and Simon Standage.
In 2008, Wicki led the 21st Century Symphony Orchestra and Chorus in the liveto-film premiere of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring at the KKL in Lucerne, taking the work to London, New York, Chicago, Sydney, and other major cities in the following years. The Two Towers and The Return of the King later premiered under Wicki’s baton in 2009 and 2010, respectively.
Wicki’s other live-to-film concerts include performances of Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, Gladiator, Fantasia, Star Trek, and Alice in Wonderland. In 2015, and for the first time ever in the United States, Wicki conducted the entire Lord of the Rings trilogy in seven concerts at New York’s Lincoln Center. In summer 2020, Wicki led the recording of Howard Shore’s score for Pieces of a Woman at Teldex Studio Berlin.
Wicki has appeared with several major orchestras in the United States, including The Cleveland Orchestra, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, The Philadelphia Orchestra, St. Louis Symphony Orchestra, and the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra. In 2007, he was honored by the city of Lucerne for his accomplishments as a musician and educator. In 2013, he recieved the Award for Excellence in Cultural Creativity from the Global Thinkers Forum.
soprano
Kaitlyn Lusk quickly gained international acclaim and won the hearts of audiences with her incredible voice and captivating presence. At age 14, Lusk made her major-orchestral debut with the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra. She was the youngest featured guest artist in the New Year’s Eve showcase with the Boston Pops and her follow-up engagement featured refreshing renditions of MGM songs made famous by Judy Garland. Lusk has since appeared with many other prestigious orchestras worldwide, including The Cleveland Orchestra, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra, and London Symphony Orchestra, among others.
Over the last decade, Lusk has been the featured vocal soloist in Howard Shore’s The Lord of the Rings Symphony, performing this role with over 75 of the world’s finest orchestras and many renowned conductors. At Shore’s request, Lusk performed the Academy Award–winning song “Into the West” as part of the Grammy Honors in New York City. Her expanded role in the live-to-projection performances of the Lord of the Rings trilogy has brought her to such legendary concert halls as Radio City Music Hall, Royal Albert Hall, and the Sydney Opera House.
Lusk’s new show FilmSong features her unforgettable voice in a 75-minute tour de force of songs from blockbuster movies delivered with full orchestra. As a returning featured soloist with the 21st Century Symphony Orchestra, whether singing the music of Ennio Morricone, James Horner, or Howard Shore, she has established herself as one of the most versatile vocalists in the industry today.
More recently, Lusk was the featured soloist in Gladiator Live, singing for Hans Zimmer and over 13,000 fans at the Krakow Film Music Festival. She can be heard on the albums No Looking Back — her first studio album, which features some of the finest musicians and songwriters in the industry today — The Lord of the Rings Symphony, released on BR Klassik, and the newly released Western Music in Concert, all recorded live.

opened Blossom Music Center in 1968 to serve as the Orchestra’s summer home. A large new volunteer chorus was assembled for the inaugural concert and included many members of The Cleveland Orchestra Chorus and members of other Northeast Ohio choral groups. The Blossom Festival Chorus has since established itself as a permanent and beloved annual part of the Blossom Music Festival and has sung well over 100 concerts since its 1968 debut.
The Blossom Festival Chorus joins The Cleveland Orchestra Chorus at Severance every December for Holiday Concerts with The Cleveland Orchestra. They have also performed at Chautauqua and on Cleveland’s Public Square for the annual Fourth of July concerts.

Jennifer Rozsa Director, Children’s Choruses
Children’s Chorus was formed in 1967 under the direction of Jane Barker Casey to provide a highquality choral group for the many orchestral works written for children’s voices, and to offer choral training to school children in the Cleveland area. Today, the Children’s Chorus regularly performs with The Cleveland Orchestra and The Cleveland Orchestra Chorus at Severance Music Center, including the annual Holiday Concerts at Severance.
Over the decades, its extensive performance history has included such major works as J.S. Bach ’s St. Matthew Passion, Britten’s War Requiem, Orff ’s Carmina Burana, Mahler ’s Symphony No. 3, and John Adams’s El Niño. The Children’s Chorus is open to singers in grades 6 through 8 via audition and application.
